We came here for a carnivale party and had a great time. The view and landscaping are awesome!! When you drive to this villa, you can't help but be amazed by the amazing surroundings and the nice driveway. This is one of the posh areas of Florence. Once you enter, it is an old villa that is a vineyard and use to make olive oil so it's nice to see the history and where it is today. The party was all throughout the hotel. First it started on the first floor where each room, there were different tables, buffet and seats. The best was on the balcony overlooking Florence :) they brought in a good sound system throughout so you could enjoy the age of the place but still have a good time with some modern tech like sound system :) Later in the night, the celler opened and this is where the real party started!! The Dj started pumping a range of pop music and there was a little light show as well. People dancing and having a good time all downstairs. My complaint here is that then celler became very hot with all the people and the AC could not keep up. Bottom line.. come here to party or come here to stay. There are excellent views and a beautiful history that you can enjoy for a short or longer stay. Also this place is in a nice area away from the Florence crowds where you can relax. Pros Location History Landscaping and views Cons Air conditioning could not keep up with a large crowd of people There are Zones where the AC was great and areas where it was limited all throughout The food was ok, we had a range of antipasto and pasta but could not say it was up to par for a 5 Star Villa

My husband and I were in Florence for 10 days. We stayed in the City Center for 5 and Villa Tolomei for 5-much longer than needed. I recommend only staying here if you're visiting Florence and aren't about to visit the Tuscan country side. Yes, it is a 20 mins walk from the City Center, down hill, but if you want to take a break in the middle of the day you will lost precious time going up and down in cabs. They're not crazy expensive--15-20 euros, but over a few days it does add up. The time lost though is the worst of it. Most importantly though--there is just ONE restaurant. It serves good food, but it's a very limited menu that doesn't change. Plus, it's overpriced for what you're getting. I recommend staying here for a maximum of two nights. One would be the right amount though. Also, only if you're not going to the Tuscan countryside. The staff are very polite and friendly--but it doesn't make up for how pricey the experience. FYI -- room service has a 25 euro surcharge. read more

This is definitely a 1 star hotel when it comes To service. The concierge is useless ! The rooms are small and old. Showers have no water pressure. The hotel doesn't tell you that it's located 25 minutes up a winding road to get there. It's 20-25 minutes away from city center Florence. Worst part is when you wake up and get attacked by ants everywhere in our room and the hotel doesn't care. Don't go here !!! read more

SUPER DISAPPOINTING. Do not recommend this hotel at all. Ugh. So miserable here. When we first got in, it was after a long day of traveling and we wanted to order room service and eat. Except then we saw on the bottom of the menu a $35 fee for room service PER PERSON (on top of cost of food). Keep in mind this hotel is a bit further out from the main city so there weren't many options outside of the in-house restaurant. When we asked the front desk for a taxi the guy had us go chase after one down their long driveway. They do have gorgeous views, especially at the pool, but it's only open until 7:30 and they have all these rules like "no opening the umbrellas", "no food or drink", etc. Our room was super hot because there was no AC. We call the front desk and they inform us there is no AC but they can bring us a fan. This is the exact same response I would expect from a slumlord in Los Angeles, not a "luxury" hotel in Florence, Italy. If you're looking for a hostel (hostile) experience at 4 or 5 star prices this is your place. read more

Villa Tolomei made my experience in Firenze all the more incredible and special! Tolomei has such an accommodating staff, with attentive poolside service and beautiful rooms. My room was the perfect size, graced with royal blue and light champagne colored drapes & blankets. All toiletry products were top of the line and in abundance, as were towels and food. The gym was so clean it looked as if no guest had ever used it. Honestly why would they, with such a breathtaking view of Firenze to soak in from the pool? Nevertheless, towels and robes were always in supply at the gym. Right above the pool, near the terrace by the bar is a small seating area where the pool and gorgeous Tuscany can be overlooked. Upon my check-in at the villa (my first time in Firenze), while waiting for a ready room-this was the first image of Tuscany i was so fortunate to take in. My stay at Villa Tolomei was an expense to endure, above my means as it was not within my budget; however, i could not put into words how happy i am with choosing this Villa as my residence during my time in the city. The entire experience is just worth it. During my stay, i had the luxury of experiencing a breakfast buffet every morning. I would recommend signing up for this as it includes a high quality array of meat, cheese, nutella, breads and juices. In true Italian style, the Cappuccino as strong and brewed to perfection which left me a happy as hell camper. The only thing i care to complain about is the tiny shower. read more

Very unique. Enjoyed wine and snacks off season and staff exceeded expectations. A needle in haystack finding the Villa however well worth it. read more
