Lots of high quality items that change regularly, it's a good place to pop in and check out some AU/NZ designer clothes (like Kate Sylvester) that you would get a lot of wear out of. Loads from the US and Paris too. It's priced accordingly, but not terrifyingly high end. I lucked out by looking at winter wear when one half of the store was all 50% off and scored myself a nice jacket at half price. The girls in the store are lovely and really helpful without being pushy. Bonus if Winnie the Whippet is in store to have a sneaky cuddle with. Look for her camouflaged in her bed up the back by the heater!

Stocking everything from Ancient Greek Goddess sandals to keypad covers for your mac, gorgeous clothes from around the world to jewellery conversation starters made by some sisters in Queensland - you will be impressed by Laine. But quality stock is not the only thing Laine has going for it, the other key attraction to this store is the friendly assistance and guidance provided by it's lovely owner, Alyce. Oh and her sweet pooch Winnie is there to help too! There is no website or mailing list yet but you can get your fix of new arrivals from the Laine facebook page, even make an order from the photos for some items. There are items to suit all budgets and styles. Must go now, I have shopping to do.

It is easy to find what you need, and if your stuck or a bit tight for time; the staff help you out real quick. Great for those small white Saucony gym socks for those all important body attack classes and marathon running events. I was impressed to also buy a new pair of slick Asics running shoes for only $90 (instead of $150) which was fantastic and a blessing in disguise for losing my other running shoes at the gym, and this was a Tuesday afternoon after work (while I was still a suit): great service, and thankfully a new pair of shoes in time for body pump and body attack on the trot (addicted maniac I know) that same evening, as if nothing had ever happened. A great sports retailer I would recommend to others without any hesitation. You should be able to find what you need as the range is so diverse.

When I finally got that fated call from the real estate agent, I immediately went here in an effort to stock my cool new house with cool, old furniture. 123 has incredible vintage furniture from the 60s, 70s right up until the 00s - think bright green vinyl sofas, sturdy metal trunks and a HEAP of wooden bar carts that will make you want to host a Mad Men-style party every weekend. But it's not just furniture, you'll also find jewellery, prints and artwork (I've got my eye on a couple of J.H. Lynch prints, keep your paws off 'em) and simply gorgeous glassware. Despite having a completely stocked house, I find myself venturing to 123 Antiques anytime I am in the area, just to see what's new.

They also feature a wide range of Elk Accessories - I pop in there regularly to have a look at the latest range and ooh and ahh over the latest hipster pieces and pick up a couple of new ones. I have 45 now. Must stop. Recommend you pay this place a visit if you're in the hood and need to pick up a present - for you or someone else.

If jewellery is your thing and you're on a tight budget, check out Lovisa. They have a great range of classic and cool styles. Much of it is a lot cheaper than their normal stores. Thanks to their outlet, I now own more pairs of earrings than I will probably ever wear. The Cotton On outlet is enormous. In addition to the standard Cotton On men's and women's ranges, they also stock sister brand Rubi Shoes. They often have cute shoes crazy cheap eg. 3 pairs for $10 deals are not uncommon. Look out for the cute $2 tote bags too. As the normal Strandbag stores are pretty reasonably priced the savings at the outlet don't tend to be massive but it is still worth a look. The outlet has a great selection and I've always been really happy with the quality of what I brought there. If you're into stationery don't miss checking out Typo. They often have great journals and notebooks on sale. I really need to stop buying those! Trade Secret is an interesting store to have a browse in. They stock a very large range of assorted fashion and home-ware items from a range of designers. There isn't many of each particular item so it takes a bit of rummaging through the racks. Personally I haven't had much success in there but you're a size that a lot of designers like to make for you might get lucky.

Need something you (for some strange reason) cannot find at Melbourne Central? It's probably 10 steps away from Melbourne Central/ ~ Stunning interior design and architecture. You have your tower underneath a glass cage. At first, I thought that this was a bit strange, but then accepted the fact that the tower probably did a lot of bad things in its life and needs a cage to control it. You can't let that thing free, man. ~ Nice selection of food. Nothing too fantastic, but my favourites: Menya Ramen, Lord of the Fries, Grill'd, O-Bento, and Harajuku Crepes. There's bound to be more food heavens that I haven't explored in that massive building yet, and I'm keen to be on the lookout! ~ Convenient public transportation. If you're on the go, trust Melbourne Central to have a train running to anywhere you want in Melbourne. Trust Melbourne Central to also have great food takeaways for you to enjoy yourself at before your train arrives. ~ Loads of entertainment! Try out Cho Gao - a great Asian Beer Cafe with a stunning view of the city. Now try out Cho Gao after catching a movie at Melbourne Central's very own cinema. Seriously - what CAN'T you do here?
