Friendly staff and it's been a long time since I've been back after COVID. I couldn't decide between noodles soup and stir fry and took my server's recommendation to order the hu tieu noodles soup with BBQ pork and shrimp wonton noodles soup. The noodles and wontons were cooked too long that it got a little mushy. The restaurant has been remodeled and the dining area looks a lot bigger with a nice bar seating area. The decor is very nice. Good prices are reasonable. Will have to order their fried rice next time. The owners were very nice to our daughters and have them caramel candies.

I thought I would try some takeout and ordered a quick appetizer. Ordered the wings for $8 plus tax. Got three over cooked wings. What a total rip off. Stay away.

Yay the Vina has reopened! I've been coming here as well as fellow Vina locations since the early 90's. I think this is the sole location now. The neighborhood is picking up with a lot of new housing, as well as with Centro moving in. It's important to keep up so I was happy to hear if the remodel. It looks nice. They're advertising a "bar" and it's a lunch counter. No cocktails are served here but they may want to consider acquiring a liquor license. It would be a massive hit! I got the grilled pork and egg roll salad. The egg rolls are fantastic as usual. The salad looked beautiful but lacked any seasoning. Not a spec of cilantro. The pork was too fatty or should've been crispy. It just opened so I'll keep trying. I'm sure they'll fall back

Pho Tai Noodle Soup Bowl

I was recommended this place by a friend who comes here regularly for the pho. I walked in the door and the first thing I noticed was the smell. It had a very musty smell. I'm the corner was a larger fish tank that had not been cleaned for quite sometime and most likely the source... so my recommendation is if you want to try this place, get the food to go. I tried the spring rolls, egg rolls and pho tai. The spring roll seemed fresh but I did not care of the peanut dipping sauce it came with. The Egg roll was filled well and deep fried to a golden crunch, those were good! They also precut it, which I liked. The pho tai was slightly bland to me, however they have so many items to flavor it, that you can really customize the flavor. This included chili oil at the table, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, limes, fresh basil, and fresh cilantro. The service here was very friendly and fast by the gentleman that was working! He came by with waters right away and kept them full. Overall, this was an average experience for me and I'm not sure I would go back. If I lived in the area, I would may be consider trying other items but with there being so many other places to get pho, and the inside feeling a bit dirty to me (with the smell) I think I'll be trying other places.

I have to say that Vietnamese food is not my favorite by my husband wanted pho. I was very pleasantly surprised by the pork and egg roll noodle salad! I would definitely order that again! My husbands pho was also pretty good too.

How well do they do with spicy food? I love places with burn your face off spices!

If you let them know they can accommodate. I suspect they get a lot of folks who SAY they can handle spice but actually cannot. Never had a bad meal from here.

Proteins all served at correct doneness in the Pho Dac Biet so you get the tougher cuts well done and rendered and the thin steak raw so it cooks in the broth. Great side accompaniments, Thai basil still on the stalk and living, fresh bean sprouts, Sri Racha and chiles in oil depending on your tastes, squirt bottle of hoisin. The only tiny nitpick I have is I wish they had bigger spoons available for those of us who like to mix sauces and soup in the spoon instead of muddying up the bowl. Also Vietnamese coffee is prepared old fashioned, not in a boba cup where you can't tell if it was made just now or weeks ago. Great service. This is a tiny little joint which is exactly what you expect from a world class Pho place.

We were able to find free street parking nearby, because of parking lot renovations. As soon as we sat down, our waitress made sure we had everything we needed, including chili oil and sriracha for us. She checked in on us throughout our meal without being overbearing and made us feel very welcome. Since it was our first visit, we appreciated that we never felt rushed to order and had plenty of time to look over the menu. The pho was really solid. I loved the clear, deep flavorful broth, and the Vietnamese coffee was perfectly balanced and not too sweet. Unfortunately, they were out of bánh mì during our visit, but honestly that just gives me another reason to come back. Between the good food and excellent service, I can definitely see why locals love this place. I'd recommend giving it a try if you're looking for a great food and a welcoming dining experience.

Hole in the wall on University Ave, Pho Ca Dao is a no frills Pho spot with a simple menu and…read morebarebones service. However despite what people say I think it is too pricey for the food and service that you get. You go in and take a seat, eat your food, then walk up to the cash register on the left side of the restaurant when you're done. Oh and it's cash only, no check or credit card here. So I had the House Special #2 Pho whoch included beef steak, flank, tripe, and meatball for $13.95. I also ordered a side of egg rolls for $4. And the Bubble tea for about $4. I'm not sure why the price all of thar somehow became $26 which annoyed me that the fees weren't transparent. Pho: 9/10 Solid option and the broth was rich and flavorful, noodles were thin and tasted great. They gave lots of meat and honestly makes the trip here Egg Rolls: 8/10 Crispy and delicious, my obly gripe is that the sauce that I got was kinda mid. Must have just been old sauce because the flavor wasn't there. Bubble Tea: 7/10 More like dessert and a slushie texture so keep thar in mind. The taro is fine but not something I'd go out my way for. Now despite expecting hold in the wall prices, Pho Ca Dao is pricier than expected. I could compare to Lotus which I had a month ago for about the same price but they provided a far larger portion of sides including chicken wings compared to here, not to mention superior service. Overall if you're in the area I guess this works but note there are better Pho options.

This is my favorite pho place in mn, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND it's a kind of hole in the wall place but…read morethe broth is soooo good, the price along with quality is the best, verry nice people that work here, I love it.

I lived in the Houston and Garland Texas area all my life where there is a large vietnamese population... and for the past 5 months, I have just been exploring Minnesota and Wisconsin and Illinois for vietnamese food. This evening... I was just craving pho. lets start with the ambiance. Its a pretty hip place once you get inside. I do like the cultural blend of modern and old school, and you see it with the different type people that come in. The staff there was prompt, and unlike my old school favorite in Richardson Texas... the staff to customer ratio was high. So the service was quick and attentive. Now for the pho. I went with the Dac Biet because I never know sometimes if I will get tough precut preprocessed meats... not in this case. I felt that all the ingrediants were fresh...and catered toward the old school viet palette, which I thank you. I understand a lot of pho house have to stay in business and cater to the local palette but this one was spot on. You can just breath in the right mixture of ingrediants. The bowl was reasonably priced, and the portions were similar to what I am used to having in Houston. It was fantastic as I scarfed it down to quick and forgot to take a picture. However, all the pictures that I have seen associated with this location are accurate. Overall, I would come back here. I am interested in trying their Stone pho next time as th emenu advertisement made it look tasty.

Service staff was as expected for a busy day and we kept getting the wrong items sent out but they were nice and apologetic, it was just a busy day and had newer staff. Parking is limited, be sure to pay attention to where you're parking since certain spots are meant for businesses nearby. They have patio seating but I don't know if they actually provide food service outside. Bathrooms are currently out of service so they have two port-o-potties outside. It's a nice space and gets lots of natural sunlight, I do wish they had some tint or blinds though because we were seated next to a window and it was a bit blinding especially with the sun reflecting off the metal cups and laminated menus. I've heard great things about their food but for me it was a miss. We all had pho but the amount of herbs and fresh toppings wasn't sufficient for 6 phos. They were accommodating and gave us additional items we asked for. The calamari was on the greasier end and was bigger than expected. For my palate both the banh mi and pho were lacking in flavor. I put a lot of things into my pho but it just didn't taste like anything to me except for pho powder. The ribeye pho had a generous portion of broth but only like 5 slices of meat. The oxtail stone bowl pho one looked hot and didn't have enough space to add everything in without it overflowing while the other didn't look like the broth was hot enough to cook the noodles. I will say though their ordered drink cups and to-go containers game was top notch. I received a reusable bag with my two banh mis to go instead of a plastic bag. It's probably not somewhere I'd return to unless someone else absolutely had to have it but to each their own.

I also appreciated the simple, thoughtfully curated menu. Instead of pages of choices, they focus on what they do best--noodles, curries, and appetizers--and it shows. I ordered the Pad See Ew at the "Shy" (Level 1) spice, and it was perfect for me. It was just the right amount of 'bite' for my taste buds. The spice levels are cleverly named, progressing to "First Step" "Brave," and "Native." The Thai tea was excellent--freshly steeped and clearly a labor of love. It took a little longer to prepare, but it was absolutely worth the wait. The mango sticky rice was to die for and the perfect way to end the meal.
