Stop here for homemade dry, fresh and frozen pasta, cannolis and other desserts, stuffed olives, sandwhiches and salads. There is a huge selection for a relatively smaller place. Staff are all very nice and fast when placing a food order. What really pushes me to giving a 5 star though are thier subs. They are so delicious! The Campania is my favorite so far, which is prosciutto, fresh mozza- rella, basil pesto, tomato & garlic oil on your choice of bread. I of course went with an italian loaf but they also had wheat. I adore this Italian grocery market! I went on my birthday this year for something different and fell in love with the selection, home-town family feel and the desserts. The authentic Italian desserts are worth the trip. They also have a well known deli in back and tons of frozen meals made right there that you can take home and warm for dinner. Their homemade vodka pasta sauce is so amazing. They also have a small section for fresh product and lots of olives. Highly recommend a trip to north Syracuse for this market. The cajun turkey and chipotle mayo are the perfect level of heat. This is such a great place! So many unique finds in this grocery store. It is also a deli and I came for a meatball sub. The meatballs were quite large and there was just enough sauce and cheese on the sub. The bread held up nicely and didn't get soggy. Everyone working there that I encountered was very friendly. The hot subs come with a cold side and I opted for the potato salad. This is not your everyday mayo based potato salad, it wowed me! I've purchased grocery items here before but this time I went for lunch and had an Italian sub. I was impressive with how efficient the staff is here. It was busy and I was waited on quickly. They had 4 employees taking care of the deli!!! The sub was reasonable at $10.99 and was filled with meat. I loved the roll also because it was not all air but was substantial (like Italian bread). They also had an assortment of Sanpellegrino drinks and I chose aranciata rossa (sparking orange and blood orange). The drink was alittle too sweet for me so I'll stick with the lemon next time. I could only eat half of my sub and I'll take the rest home. They have a nice clean seating area to eat here. I will be back for another sub when I'm out this way again. read more

I was driving home from errands and decided to stop in Vince's for some lunch meat to go with the Fresh Italian Bread I had just bought. While in line I saw they had meatballs and sauce. That sounded good, but I am italian and very particular about my sauce and meatballs. I decided to give them a try and also order some salami if they were a bust. Lol. Omg their meatballs are just like my mom's. So delicious and FRIED not baked! The sauce was perfect as well. I will definitely go back for these again! My only complaint was I could only get them in orders of 2. They do have larger packages in the freezer, but it would be nice to have a larger order option from the deli. We don't go out much for proper Italian, even when the city is packed full of Italian places who are trying their hardest. It's just easy and fun to make at home, so it feels super accessible and we end up doing other stuff. I've always known Vince's was legit, but I managed to sleep on it for years before finally making it here at the end of 2023. There's an amazing feeling that comes with exploring a new import market you've never been to. A whimsical feeling teamed with kind of a sense of urgency. Tons of fresh and authentic stuff I'd love to try, and it kind of puts me in my place when I think I've got a handle on Italian cuisine. Everything was a few dollars more than our regular impulse buy threshold, but we forced it and bought a few things anyway. Most of the subs are just named and not described. This is a trope for good, authentic Italian places, who seem to take pleasure watching non-Italian schmucks like me squint at the menu and then butcher the names of the food I order. We went right for the heart and got the Vince's Gigante sub, and threw in a Lombardi sub for good measure. We kept the Lombardi sub as it was, and added crushed red peppers and Italian dressing to the Gigante. The Gigante was a huge, heavy sandwich made with thousands of different kinds of meats and provolone cheese. All their subs use romaine lettuce, which is now a requirement for Italian style subs. The Lombardi was roast beef with roasted red peppers. All the meat is incredible, and has the variety and quality you could only get in an amazing import market type of place. The bread was dry and hard. This is probably just the style for Italian subs, but bread is at least half the quality of any sandwich. If they used high quality soft sub rolls, Vince would have probably had to take out a restraining order against me. We were super hungry and excited to finally be here, so we were heavy handed on the order. We ordered some Arancinis and bundled them as meals so we could pair them with different salads. I've never really cared about Arancini, but I think I've only ever had them from pizzerias so I accept the blame. These were extremely flavorful, and the exact texture you hope it is when you're seeing one for the first time. Cuts perfectly in half with a plastic butter knife, but you can pick up the halves without losing any. They have a large variety and every single one we've tried has been perfect. We stopped getting salads after the first go, because we didn't care at all for either. The potato salad had good texture, but was extremely sour, like it was suspended in vinegar. The zucchini salad had the same vinegar dousing, and I just didn't understand the purpose of it. Just a pile of fresh zucchini, yellow squash, chick peas and bell peppers sitting in vinegar. To complete the first run, we bought some snacks, which marks the day we got hooked on chocolate covered sunflower seeds. How do things like this exist, but only in a single obscure store like this? We also tried the espresso soda, which was interesting and... I don't know not bad. It was exactly carbonated espresso. About half way through, we mixed it with some coffee mate creamer and it actually got a lot better. The next time we came back was on my birthday, which I think is the biggest compliment a restaurant can get from me. My birthday policy is to not say no to anything I want to do. It's usually an opportunity to finally try things I've been holding back on, or treat myself to something I've been missing. This year I went here and got more subs, because it's what I wanted. This time we did chicken cutlet and Italian. I'm not sure why they asked if we wanted spicy or mild, because the spicy had no heat at all. Amazing sub though. The chicken cutlet sub came out of left field. Once I realized it was basically just breaded chicken, I thought I'd made a huge mistake. Just mayo, lettuce and tomatoes I think, but holy crap this was like the best chicken sub I've ever had. The breading is thick and a little sludgy. The cutlets were so tender I actually double checked to make sure they didn't give us fish by mistake. This time, we threw in some dried house-made pasta for later in the week, which turned out to be the best pasta I've ever eaten. Better than any restaurant or any fresh made pasta I've made myself. Just there ready to cook when you are. Absolute game changer. This place is across town from me and I will come here for all my A-Game pasta needs. Yesterday, we stopped in and stocked up on prepared meals in the frozen section for today. They have a big selection and everything we tried was better than any respectable entree we've ordered out. Chicken Cordon Bleu Lasagna, my new favorite meatballs (and I had a great meatball place before this!) and absolutely amazing gnocchi. The fact that everybody isn't constantly raving about this place tells me Vince's is extremely underrated. If you sleep on this place, you're making a tragic mistake. read more

This was a recommendation from from one of my friends who works in the area. I was happy to give it a try. You can never go wrong with an old school Italian deli. And this one is full service. They have everything from pastas, sauce, garlic, olives and a full line of custom sliced meats and cheeses. As I like to do, I went with the weekly Special. I figure they know what will keep people coming back. This one didn't disappoint. Sliced chicken, provolone and huge slices of banana pepper. Delicious! I have to give a shout out to the Italian Espresso soda. I always get it when I see it. It really is great and cheaper than a Starbucks for my afternoon caffeine fix. When I first wandered in one weekend I was immediately hit by AMAZING smells, even through the mask I was wearing; Oregano, cured meats, cheese, mmmm! Vince's carries an array of Italian goods from Expresso soda, pantone, a bajillion olive oils, lots of actual olives, bulk spices, lots of cured meat and cheese at the deli counter, etc. Did I mention there is a wall of house-made dried pastas? Oh and during the holiday season they huge log-sized provolone cheese, which is easily taller than I am. If you don't want to cook they have take-n-heat meals and a deli that makes sandwiches and hot dinners. If you want to learn to cook Vince's offers cooking classes on the regular, which you can sign up for online. I haven't had the chance to take one yet but I really want to. read more

They have a busy deli counter in the back where they make the best sandwiches with the meat and cheese that they sell at the counter. While waiting for my sandwich to be made, I checked out the drinks. They even have to-go Bubble Tea from Joyba! Everyone we spoke to was happy to see us and glad to help. I forgot to take a picture but the Campania sandwich with fresh sliced prosciutto, basil, mozzarella and tomato was delicious with tons of meat. Just happened to pass by while visiting the area and I have no regrets. I was in the area for a wedding from California. I can never help myself when I see specialty stores like this on Yelp. Especially stores that make their own pasta, sauces, and ready-made meals. I bought so many items even planning to take the risk of packing frozen pasta sauces on my 11-hour flight. I was able to buy some really nice gifts/souvenirs for the family. And there are tables inside to relax and casually have lunch and the staff are all friendly. The prices for the hot food were well worth it too! I was able to try different items that I don't typically see in my town. TL;DR: Recommended. Will repeat. Vince's is a grocery store that also serves food, and I will split my review into two separate sections. **Grocery** As someone who loves and appreciates Italian food, this place was a hit for me. I was impressed by the variety of food that they carry. An entire row is dedicated to various types of pasta. They also have a separate frozen section, just for ravioli. An excellent selection of deli meats that they also use in their sandwiches and paninis. They also have a decent cheese section. It is smaller than some of the other grocery stores in the area, but it is completely understandable because they are only carrying Italian cheeses. One minor clarification: by Italian cheese, I mean common Italian cheese types, not cheese produced in Italy (because some of them were not). They also have a frozen section of prepared meals right next to the ravioli. They were heat-and-serve type. They had generous portions and an attractive price point. Unfortunately, I didn't get the opportunity to buy them because I was there for lunch and was planning to go to Full Boar (reviewed separately) after, but I will be back for them for sure! They are known for their desserts, and by the time I got there, most of it was sold out. But, fortunately, one of my tablemates got cheesecakes for us (see pic), and it was uniquely delicious. **Food** The food counter is at the back of the grocery store. The setup is that you order food there, and then you pay at the checkout counter located in the front of the store. They have seating both inside and outside of the store (see pics). They have a good selection of subs (both hot and cold). I wanted to try something different than a sub and went with their crab and lobster arancini. The arancini were fried fresh and served hot. I was picking them up for a to-go order, and they still tasted crispy when I had them 10 mins later. One of my tablemates ordered the chicken riggies sub, and *THAT* looked really, really good. A heaping generous serving of chicken. That will be my order next time I am here. As someone who was visiting Italy just three weeks ago (see my reviews), I found the portion sizes of Vince's little Italy in Syracuse to be much more generous than some of the touristy places I visited in Italy. (just saying!) **Overall** It was a wonderful experience. This place looked like the perfect spot for weekend brunch with family and friends. Whenever we visit a different city, my husband always wants to check out local Italian food shops/markets. Most are disappointing, but Vince's was great. Outside of Italy, obviously, we put it in our top five Italian Markets (others are in Ottawa, ON, Providence, RI, Niagara Falls, ON and NYC. There is so much going on in this store, but not in a bad way. As you walk in to the right is a seating area and the deli is at the back of the store. The wall by the seating area is filled with some beautiful Italian serving platters. It's a miracle we didn't walk out with one. Or five. Also on that wall is a cooking area. They do a lot of cooking classes and the set up looks fun! The other side wall is a refrigerated/freezer section with so much stuff. They sell their own sauces and fresh pastas and meats as well as desserts. On top of all the Italian groceries you can think of, they also have a home section with Moka pots, ravioli stamps and more. Two things I hadn't seen before were huge tubs of olives (think of those huge industrial size paint buckets) and everyday spices that you scoop yourself. There was also an olive and antipasti bar. Growing up in an Italian American family means that 1. I have a habit of talking with my hands and 2. Not just any cannoli will do. After reading the reviews for Vince's, I knew this was the kind of bakery my grandma would approve of, and decided to swing by to pick up some sweets for a visit. There was plenty of parking, and the store is pretty spacious, and filled with tons of products. I beelined for the bakery case, where there were plenty of options both traditional and creative. I opted for a mix of old and new, selecting lobster tail pastries in vanilla and chocolate, as well as standard cannolis and chocolate peanut butter ones. Flash forward, the sweets were a big hit! My family gave rave reviews, and the box of goodies didn't last the weekend. While at the store, I also picked up a can of Italian spiced eggplant for my grandmother, and one of the associates was nice enough to help me. I didn't want to spend too much time in the shop, but they have a big variety, and you could spend time browsing here under more normal circumstances. I've passed by Vinces Gourmet a ton of times, always meaning to go in. I finally went after finding out they made fresh Italian sandwiches, which I wasn't aware of. I'm very glad I did. It's a very nice little shop. Decorated nicely, plenty of authentic Italian products to choose from, from spices to desserts to meats. Staff was friendly and attentive. But, let's talk about what really matters...the sandwiches. Good god, the sandwiches. I checked out the menu beforehand, and there's plenty of delicious sounding options to choose from. I knew immediately I wanted the Gigante. 4 meats, two cheeses, lettuce, tomato, roasted red peppers and Italian dressing. All they're sandwiches come in two sizes...8 inch or 10 inch. Affordable, $5.99 for the 8 inch, $7.49 for a 10 inch. The Gigante, on the other hand, only comes in mini, or full. $9.99 for a mini, $17.99 for a full. From the price, you already know it's gonna be huge. Having never eaten before, I didn't know whether it was gonna be a sandwich packed with ingredients or one of the overpriced sandwiches where there's barely any filling. But I can assure you, it's WORTH the price. A mini, by the way, is one of their normal 10 inch rolls. I dunno how big a full is, and I'm not man enough to find out. The mini WILL FILL YOU. It is PACKED with meats and cheeses, just a huge sandwich fit for the Gigante name. And it's absolutely delicious, by the way. Great flavor, the Italian dressing is spicy and tangy, just an awesome sandwich. I've been told their other sandwiches are no different, packed with ingredients. I will definitely be back. We've gone for years for the frozen soups. Our freezer is always stocked with them. Unfortunately we've noticed a significant decrease in the pasta that they put in there.
