I took a free first time class here last week. I usually frequent YogaSix but thought I'd try…read moresomething new. Everything in the studio just felt dingy and dirty. The instructor was nice and upbeat. Gave MANY hands on corrections which was appreciated but a bit uncomfortable at times. I did not know she would be touching places such as my chest and butt. Usually in my yoga classes we are asked if we are comfortable being touched and given corrections. However that was not communicated at this studio and the hands on nature was immediate and a bit uncomfortable for someone who was not prepared for it. Especially in more private areas such as the butt. Class was great- very hard and may be tough for beginners. Overall I do not think I will return given the price and the atmosphere.

On Thursday for 730 class, I reserved last min on ClassPass because i had spare time in the morning…read morebefore my classes, so i was rushing there and arrived 2 mins before. The lady at the front desk said she didn't know how to use the computer and just told me i could sign after the class , which I should've arrived earlier but I did book like 10 mins before (didn't know there was papers to sign). Okay, and then I'm taking off my shoes and she tells me if I have grip socks, I say no. The only reason I didn't have them was because on ClassPass it says please wear socks , grip socks RECCOMENDED. Okay so which one is it. Now I'm charged a fee for not going because I didn't want to buy their overpriced grip socks, I have enough at home. I can't even view their location anymore or else I would screenshot.

Just took an intro Pilates class here this morning with Aaliyah and loved it! If you're new to…read morereformer Pilates or want a class that's more focused on form and stretch, this is for you. They do fill up the entire class so the instructor isn't demonstrating how to do the moves, but she does walk around and correct form/help you transition. I appreciated this class was so much more focused on making sure you nail the basics because too many trendy studios try to "push" students do harder moves than their core is ready for. I already weight lift so I like Pilates to help me recover and practice good form (especially because I'm prone to not engage my core enough when I lift!). I'm sure their non beginner class is more challenging, but this was a perfect, restorative Saturday morning work out. I also liked the intro course because there were students from all age groups and no pretentious vibe that I've had at other studios where students judge if you're in aesthetic clothes or not (people ranged from cute fits to comfy gym clothes so you can totally do both here). Looking forward to coming back whenever I need a good recovery stretch and to perfect my core strength!

I like their Reformer classes that uses the machines like Pilates. It is difficult if you haven't…read moredone Pilates but the instructor tells how the correct form. It really engages the whole body and working one muscle group. For Reformer: bring grip socks or else you'll have to buy it from the studio. I also took a yoga class. You can grab 2 yoga mats to make it more cushioned. The class itself was ok, I'm new to yoga so some of the exercises were hard esp holding the position with your abs. For Yoga: don't need to bring anything . They provide yoga mats What kept bothering me was the amount of ants on the ground near where I was. It was super bothersome. I couldn't even concentrate on the class. Even though I killed some ants, there were still more crawling on my mat and around my area. I told the instructor who said she'll let the owner know. I hope the owner cleans the studio. Parking is around the building and free parking. The location of the entrance of the building is on the street side so you'll have to walk to the street side to enter the place.

Time to step up my fitness game with a triathlon of exercise classes!…read more Barre Vivre held Open Barre: A Fitness Event, which offered free Barre, Yoga & Zumba classes. Being my first Barre class, she made it easy to follow but kept the pace moving & the workout intense. I'm glad to say I handled my inaugural Barre class like a champ! I was pulsing plies & leg lifting like a natural. Only 4 students, all female, were in the class with me. Not feeling awkward, I didn't mind, as a workout is a workout & I enjoyed doing Barre. With my limited experience with yoga, we did moves that I haven't done before. I felt the tension release from my body as I held each yoga pose, keeping focus on deep breaths. Upon completion of the class, I felt great, ready to hydrate & set to take on Zumba! Uh oh! The Zumba class was held at 8am. Unfortunately, I couldn't pull off the fitness trifecta. I don't know if that was a blessing or a curse, because the barre & yoga classes did do a number on me. I had the opportunity to try out Barre, which I immensely enjoyed & I found out how rusty I am with yoga. I had a fun morning & the entire staff were friendly & accommodating. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/open-barre-a-fitness-event-artesia?select=KmAkcK3BSuqzQ86t7w90jA#rVsghPfDo_LRH2X4l_J_3A

This camp is a place to put your heath/strength/weight loss/ endurance goals on the table and the coaches will aid in helping you reach your full potential. I started in Feb 2018 and guess what....IM STILL GOING. Why? Because THIS PLACE honestly has given a new light on working out, the coaches (Jess/Sergio) CARE about you, they push your limits and they adjust when needed. Previous injuries, pains, low endurance - they HELP coach you beyond what you believe your capabilities are. They see your limits, they get to know you....they completely empower you. Not only did I stay for the staff, the "walk-in workouts" that I never have to prep for (cause guess what, you walk in and it's set up) but I stayed for the new found friends I've made that share all the same hurdles in life! Kids, work, wife life, and hard to control bad eating habits. Together, we are Unstoppable...and I go everyday just to HH (happy hour cause literally you are only there less than 1 hour!!!) with my workout friends. All of which started at different challenge times, from different backgrounds for different reasons. This Camp is for everyone, regardless of what you might think of "bootcamps"....I want to be there, and so will anyone else who shows up for the challenges! :) Shoutout: Coaches (Jess, Sergio and Eddie who I haven't seen in awhile) THANK YOU ALL for putting in all the time and effort to make Camp Excel the place for determined better-health seeking individuals! #campSFS is my Happy Hour!! #resultsareREAL

He really gets to know each member. He is very approachable and you can ask always ask him questions. I've really enjoyed his workouts. I've also met other coaches - Levi, Jessica, & Cesar. They are all friendly and come up with fun workouts. Whether it's adding more weights or to keep pushing through a workout, the coaches motivate members to do their best. Also, shout out to Melanie. She always greet members with a smile and notices your progress. The atmosphere at Camp Xcel is always positive. The members are all there with the same goals of being fitter and healthier. You'll never feel discouraged to workout here. Everyone is supportive of each other. This is a great place to work out as a group. Overall, I am extremely pleased with my results since I joined. I continue to lose weight and I am so much closer to meeting my fitness goals. I really enjoy coming to Camp Xcel with my husband. Camp Xcel is the best decision I made to start my fitness journey.
