Amazing food but mediocre to poor service. My tour guide had us stop here for lunch. It took the…read morewaiter forever to acknowledge us and to take our drinks order (let alone food order). When he finally did take our order the food took longer than expected to get to us. Thank goodness they placed bread, olives, and cheese on the table without asking us if we need them (they charge extra for each of those items); honestly, it saved me from hangry so not mad at them for that. My hubby and I chose to split the sea bass (whole fish) with a side of yellow rice. I mentioned the rice to the waiter twice. When the food came I saw potatoes (automatically comes with the fish) but no rice so I asked where it was? He left and then circled back and said it would be another 15 minutes- I almost threw a fit y'all. I ordered the rice in Spanish and English so I'm wondered if it was a language barrier. At this point I was about to give this place 2-3 stars until I tasted the food and my heart started to sing. This food was amazing - def worth the wait and all of the bad service. As the meal progressed the service got a little better. I ended up ordering two desserts a pudding (not the chocolate or mango one but the third flavor they had) and some type of baked cake with a gooey center (looks like they get it from a local bakery- it's in a bakery box, individually stored)- both were great. Under normal circumstances the food alone would have earned them 5 stars but I couldn't ignore the service (even though it got better towards the end). Hands down would come here again- the food was that great.

Good restaurant of seafood the squids are very well with boiled potatoes and lettuce salad…read more Chocolate's mousse is very nice I recommend this place for sure

We stopped in Nazare during our 2-week trip in Portugal and stumbled across this hidden gem after a…read morerelaxing day at the beach. The menu on the sidewalk, luring customers in, had a great selection and beautiful photos of their dishes but we figured we would keep walking the main drag to see what the other restaurants on the strand had to offer. After seeing the same generic menu after menu as we headed closer to the hustle and bustle of the city center, we circled back and had the best seafood dinner of our lives - keep in mind we had already been to The Algarve and Porto (and we have lived in San Francisco for almost a decade - so we have amazing food at our fingertips on the daily) before hitting Nazare. The couverts, while not free, were amazing (tuna hummus and octopus ceviche) and the bread was so delicious that we weren't even mad that we filled up on it prematurely before even getting our first dish. We ordered the cockles bulhao (think garlic, white wine, olive oil), grilled sardines, and the fish cataplana style (an amazing tomato/onion-based seafood stew). We washed it down with the house vinho verde and sat in heaven for three hours as we tried to digest our first attempt at finishing the meal so we could eat more. The service was wonderful, they speak limited English but are very accommodating and you really can't go wrong with any of the dishes. The pictures on the menu out front look straight out of a print ad but don't do the meal justice. Don't be fooled by venturing closer to the city center for dinner, you will not get a better meal with an ocean view while in Nazare!
