First time here. Restaurant was very clean and open spaced, employees were not on top of each other working in tight spaces. They all were very friendly as well. The small pepperoni pizza was delicious and the tortelini alfredo was perfectly cooked and the alfredo sauce was creamy and cheesy.. chicken soup that came with the meal was good too. I was alittle disapointed that they dont have SPAGHETTI and meatballs (only linguini) but a girl cannot expect EVERYTHING. If you are local, I would say try vinnys for yourself. It IS alitle pricey, but sometimes quality is worth the extra.. DEFINITELY worth a trip. They have dine in, takeout, and delivery. read more

We went on Memorial Day 6pm. There was no one in there except for us. The waitress said the soup was cream of mushroom.....nope, when it came, it was cream of broccoli. It wasn't hot. And looked more like pudding than soup. My husband's tortellini soup wasn't very good either. Then a family with 4 small kids came in and were running around like maniacs. Not once did anyone say anything to them. The little one kept running right by us and even ran into the kitchen twice. At one point both parents were outside and left two kids inside. The only thing that saved a 1 star was the entrees were very good. My chicken Marsala was loaded with mushrooms, the gravy was delicious, and it was nice and hot. My husband's dish was to his liking as well. The waitress was incredibly slow and considering there were literally two tables, that's unacceptable. We had had it with the unruly kids. Vinny's again failed to give the exact directions to the delivery driver who barely spoke English and had no clue where she was. She first went to the wrong street then to another town then back to Torrington! I talked to her on the phone 3x with exact directions again. Over an hour passed since they left the restaurant. They are only 5 minutes from my house! I'm sure the food was cold. We called Vinny's and they said once the food left there was nothing they could do. No offer of discount or reimbursement just sorry there's nothing they will do. Last time for Vinny's! Slice called us back and had Vinny's give us the credit for the 2 meals. Vinnys is a popular local spot. We love their dinners, having enjoyed Penne A La Vodka, Chicken Parm, and Cavetelli! While we highly recommend their Italian dishes, their pizza is not our favorite, but it's not bad. It is a doughy pizza with lightly done crust and heavier on the cheese. OK. How do I put this delicately? Vinny is like that old-school Italian restaurant that's really a pizzeria in disguise. The pizzeria kitchen and the restaurant kitchen are one and the same but this might be the actual problem. What I like about Vinny's is that you could love it and hate it at the same time. Love it because it harkens back to a time when Italian food was hearty and basic and abundant. Yet, one can hate it for exactly the same reasons. Too much food but not necessarily the highest quality. Areas of opportunity for Vinny's are: Better lighting, real flowers on the tables, Uniformed servers, and a better salad, maybe cut up the tomatoes and the cucumbers into smaller pieces on the salad. Tomatoes looked orange in color. Cherry tomatoes look much better. Definitely, leave off the pickled peppers as those are super hard-core old-school and a cheap touch. With pastas, I would suggest using a little bit of sauce to coat all of the pasta, make sure there's no water in the dish anywhere, which can be achieved by carefully straining the pasta. Once you've coated the pasta with sauce, you only need a little bit of sauce on top to create a little bit of pool full of sauce and then you could add the meatballs on top of that as the star instead of burying everything in sauce. Sauce should be less cooked, and less salt. This was more like pizza sauce, not a fresh Marzano tomato marinara. A sprig of fresh basil on top or a dollop of ricotta would freshen up the dish. The chicken française was tender, savory and delicious, however, the dish could have been dressed a little bit better with some fresh parsley on top, or some garnish of some sort. This dish is usually swimming in butter. The side vegetables were extremely generous, however, very soft and mushy. Could have been fresher, crisper, and less like a goulash. Our server was very affable, helpful, and accommodating. There was only one server. The last time, the server was flying back and forth to the kitchen as if the had run a marathon. This made very anxious. Again one server for all the tables. Overall, Vinny's has a certain understated old school charm and a comfort about it, but I fear that more people are expecting a higher level of quality and presentation, especially with so many Italian restaurants in and around Torrington. This is not so much a bad review or criticism as it is hopefully an opportunity for them to up their game and present the area and Torrington restaurants with more choices and a better level of quality. read more

Very good food, very good service, and quick! This bit of a "Hole In the Wall," sort of venue was really quite remarkable. The portions generous and wait staff friendly and not bothersomely attentive. I had the Shrimp and broccoli fettuccini Alfredo sans Fettuccine- my choice of Ziti, Angel hair or linguini was a surprise, as I'm accustomed to a nice thick Fettuccine in the Fettuccine Alfredo; that aside, the linguine was perfection on a plate, or rather a Bowl. It was a bit thin, but the addition of some Parmesan made it so! It was very, very good! My dining partner favored a dinner of grilled chicken and assorted veggies, which she enjoyed thouroughly. Servings were ample for the heartiest of appetites‼We each carried with us plenty for a meal to follow this fine one. The ambiance was just right, as well. Tables close enough to commiserate with neighboring diners-who each highly recommended their chosen entrée quite mightily. Yet quiet enough to enjoy our own private conversations. We did have to request refills twice on our ice waters. That and the missing Fettuccine kept away that 5th star on their rating- wish I could just assign a 5 minus on this report card. The pizza and salad we ordered were great..but we got the large side order of sautéed veggies and this was it. The size was great for the price, but there was no flavor whatsoever. Plain steamed veg that included baby carrots for whatever reason. That was a disappointment. read more

Ordered delivery- was fast and food was still VERY hot. My NY raised husband had high hopes and was not disappointed. Pizza was delicious both fresh and for breakfast the next day. The food is average to decent depending on the particular dish and day you order. The biggest downside of Vinny's is the people who take the orders on the phone. Some of them think it's funny to make the customer repeat what they've said 2-3 times because are goofing around or not paying attention. I've hung up on them and ordered from a different restaurant many times because of this and I know others who have too. It wouldn't surprise me if some people have written them off altogether due to the phone service. Although I've ordered from Vinny's many times, I've never eaten in the dining room, so I can't comment on that, but the to-go area is large and inviting. read more

Really bummed out with my order today. The chicken marsala is the best around in my opinion. It comes with big fresh mushrooms so I figured that's what they would use on their pizza. Nope. They use disgusting canned mushrooms. My daughter loves their cheese pizza, as do I. She also loves mushrooms so I bought a mushroom pizza. She doesn't care for it, nor do I. So we are throwing out a pizza. That is money down the drain. I thought I would try their tortellini soup. Absolutely inedible. The broth looked like cloudy water and tasted like nothing. Came to Vinny's on a spur of the moment trip. I had a lot of friends recommend this place and I'll now be doing the same. They took me in right before closing and made me the best medium pepperoni I've had in a long time. Not sure how I haven't found them sooner. Vinny's Pizza is edible, and it's good when you're hungry, but if you're looking for an enjoyable experience, then this ain't it. Their pizza doesn't have enough sauce, and it isn't crispy at all, plus, the crust needs a touch of salt for flavoring. Once again another wonderful meal! Jocelyn is our go-to person every week! The chicken noodle soup is the best that you will ever have; full of chunks of chicken and lots of noodles -- it can be a meal of its own. The barbecue chicken wings have just enough tang and meaty yummy. Cannot say enough about the wraps; they are always full and full of good things! Mine was a chicken Cesar, another was Turkey, cheese, bacon -- delicious! And their chefs salad is a solid meal with meals, cheeses and veggies. I do not like giving bad reviews but I'm quite disappointed in this restaurant. They were our favorite in town for pizza and food for a long time but they've gotten bad The peanut butter pie had MOLD on it. I never expect to have to inspect my food and I regret not doing so tonight. I shared this pie with my 3 year old son My boyfriend had a couple bites and spit it out in disgust when he found the mold because he had a much better view with the light being right over him. I will say they are refunding us but we will never be going here again. Everything we got tasted like soggy reheated cheap frozen food. Last night I ordered a large 1/2 sausage, 1/2 cheese pizza to go, surprisingly, the pizza straight out of the oven was not as good as the re-heated pizza slices I have had here in the past. Skimpy on the sausage, crust was stiff & dry. The pizza wasn't horrible, but I felt it was just OK. My wife didn't like it at all, told me not to order from them again. I heard a lot of good things about Vinnies so my expectations were high, but I was disappointed. I ordered a medium sausage and mushroom pizza and was told it will be twenty min. I was picking it up myself and when I got there in 15 min., I noticed that my pizza was not only ready, but it was under a couple of other pizza boxes on top of the oven. I was home in 5 min. and found that the pizza was dry, and not hot at all, maybe one click above room temp., with very little red sauce and VERY little cheese. Somehow I felt that this pizza was sitting there on top of the oven for awhile. IDK, all I know is that it was two Vinnies pizzas in one for me, my first and my last. BTW, a medium pizza with one extra topping was over $16 with me picking it up. They charge $2 to deliver. read more

I am so disappointed with Vinny's today. We frequent take out at Vinny's for pizza and dinners because their food is very good and fairly reasonable. I called today for a small Pizza and I had a feeling this girl wouldn't get the order right. She sounded preoccupied when taking my order. We got there and my husband went inside to pick it up and the pizza had mushrooms. Both the girl on the register and a very tall man insisted I ordered mushrooms. My husband said that my wife doesn't eat mushrooms. There's no way she ordered them. My husband had to come out to the car to get me so I could come and tell them this was my order. I did not order mushrooms. I never had a mushroom in my life because I don't like them. Never an apology like "I am sorry we must have made a mistake," nothing! I just told him to cancel the order and he said fine! The food was actually not good. My husband simply got meatballs and sausage with sauce. Both meats were almost in edible. I got a calzone boring no taste, and the sauce was equally as boring. We did get some buffalo wings that were pretty good the waitress, and the service was excellent and the new restaurant is nice it's an old factory. We honestly should've sent back the meatballs and sausage but I recommend this place maybe for a pizza but stay away from the meatballs and sausage. read more
