This is a quaint and small market operated by one man. We walked in and found they also had all kinds of beverages including an extensive stock of wines. They also sell meat and cheeses among other foods. Very authentic and a lot of the stock was not commercial goods. Why I give this place five stars is because the man working here was honest. It was pretty obvious that we were tourists because we at first picked up a sparkling water not knowing it was carbonated. He didn't speak English but he still corrected us knowing we wanted regular still water. Then he directed us to the cold still water bottles. Finally when we paid we were sorting out our coins and didn't exactly have enough to make exact change. He still took what we had and we were very grateful as we did not want to break our larger Euro bills. Really a genuine and kind person and being a mom and pop type of operation going up against the supermarket next door isn't easy but he maintains his integrity and didn't take advantage of us tourists. I have not been offered so many samples in my life, and I frequent Costco on the weekends. Not only were we able to try a variety of things (various chocolates, almonds coated with hazelnut/pistachio/caramel/limoncello, balsamic vinegar, oils, limoncello, various jams), they were actually amazing quality and that really sold themselves I would visit here just for the experience, not to mention the amazing service from everyone giving you samples. The store is also beautiful from the inside and bigger than it looks from outside. Needless to say, I would 100% go back to see what else I can try!

One I tend to buy often is Barbera. It's an organic oil that offers good bang for the buck. The gentleman that helped us was very friendly and knowledgable and we ended up tasting about 5 different olive oils, some on pieces of bread and some by themselves on a spoon. Everything we tasted was very good but we settled on a Sicilian olive oil and a bottle of Villa San Cosma balsamic. If you like good olive oil and balsamic like we do, this place will be like heaven for you.

We…read morewill be cooking some of our own meals so going to the local grocer's is a fun culinary adventure. It was small yet had all of the essentials. Its aesthetic is like an NYC bodega where things are stacked from floor to ceiling. The employees were very helpful and didn't make fun of my preschool level Italian. There are small bakery, cheese and butcher counters. I encountered this local style of cheese, treccia, and am obsessed. The braiding is beautiful and the flavor is sublime. I do wish they had a fish counter but but I am certain that there are some good fishmongers near by. The quality of the produce was excellent. Unlike things in the U.S. where things look good but have no taste, all of the vegetables I bought had amazing depth of flavor. You do have to weigh and label your own produce which took me a bit of time to figure out. Looking forward to going back later in the week and definitely recommend visiting it if you need to go grocery shopping while visiting Sorrento.
