I originally reserved 3 weeks ahead. However, the weather didn't look good, so to avoid 1 day fee, I cancelled the reservation. (They have a policy if you cancel, they will give you credit in the future, but I'm not planning on being back.) I called on the morning I wanted to go and they had boats available and could accommodate. I arrived and the staff were all polite and helpful. Cooper K took care of coordinating my rental and was fair, professional, and went over the "rules" with me in a polite yet thorough manner. The other team members did as he directed to get the boat ready and ensure easy launch. The boat was in great condition, well maintained, and was very comfortable for guest and handled well for me (captain). A couple of recommendations for VIP - 1) use 150' lines on anchors vs 100'; and 2) rent the "lilly pad" floats. Buying for $375+ isn't practical if the customer is from out of town. We came to VIP Marina with high hopes for a great day on the water, and Cooper made sure that's exactly what we got. When things weren't going as planned, he jumped in without hesitation and turned what could have been a ruined day into an absolutely incredible one. His positivity, knowledge, and genuine willingness to help made all the difference. Every year our school program books barges for a party and we always have so much fun. You can go swimming on lake Travis and enjoy a relatively short boat ride (about 30 min) to get to the swimming point. I will say on the boat there is like zero storage space for bags and such so when you have 50 people and bags it just gets annoyingly crowded. read more

We rented a personal boat originally on boatsetter and the owner cancelled last min. I was trying to find an available boat and came across VIP and it was magical experience. They gave us the new Berkshire Pontoon boat and it was honestly the best boat I've rented. It can easily fit 10 people comfortably. The boat goes fast!!! It was perfect for tubing. The boat came with a big two person tube also. Alfredo and his dad and the rest of the crew were super helpful. The young men who helped us park made sure we docked safely. I highly highly recommend booking with this company. They also have ATVs to pick you up from the parking lot!! Bring cash for the lot and to tip the drivers/guys who help park the boat. Staff was great. I was worried about the awful reviews from 2-4 years ago. The reviews seemed pretty consistent re-naming a few awful employees. Hopefully those people are gone. We usually book our rental at Liquid Thrillz. I was pleased with our Berkshire pontoon being in almost brand new condition that fit 10-13 people. The boat was fast enough to tow the tube which was a major plus! Only thing missing was a table. Typically we rent a boat that has a mini table built in but their fleet does not. I'd recommend to bring a very small fold up table if possible. The Bluetooth connected great to play music and the speakers were loud. Staff was very friendly at the desk as well as the young men at the dock. I see other reviews have had lots of issues with the captained boats. We did not have a caption so no issues there. I have come here for multiple events and had 2 personal boat parties for my company.... Last year service was amazing the 4x I came but THIS year..... ugh! completely different experience and I will NEVER come back here again! The general manager is RUDE and I have more to say TRUST ME! The phone was never answered and no one ever calls back... I had a question about hookah being allowed and literally called 8x before I got an answer... mind you I booked in Dec 2021 and paid balance by July 2022 for an August event... the day of arrives and I think everything it is a go and was given such a hard time. Me and the 25 other people who came with me drove 2 hours to get there from San Antonio... the GM was on a power trip trying to be loud and wrong! Was embarrassed he got showed on the official website where he was wrong and threatened to cancel our party it was a whole thing! Very disappointing! It was better when the younger staff ran the place that GM gotta go! Upon first interactions with the GM my captain was letting the GM know he might need another staff person... bc over 25 people needs 2 staff on board I had 26 total... maybe 27? Either way, I walked up to see if there was any info I can provide... the gm immediately was just overreacting so much so that I had to pause and say hello my name is Erika how are you doing today and reached my hand out to shake his hand... which he rolled his eyes and looks me up and down and said oh my name is 'X' and proceeds to point his finger in my face and being rude... talking to me like a child rather than the paid customer who just dropped 2500 for this experience... saying I can't have one person bring all the drinks everyone should have brought their own... I said no one has said this to me before today and I did it this way to be easier for everyone to have fun... how do we fix it now? I've literally been telling you my plan since I booked in Dec last year... he just shoved past me and says we will see and walks away while we waited for my bar person to arrive to answer some questions My bar person who was there to monitor the consumption of alcohol (all pre made drinks) was talking to the GM and he was so rude and in her face that I started recording bc I feared for our safety... he was pointing and being loud. Looked like he wanted to hit her... It was scary... he Saw me recording and said he didn't need this sh*t and to delete it or he was cancelling my party.... Started to walk towards me to snatch my phone... I made the decision to stop bc my people drove 2 hours!!!! This reaction tells me he knows he's wrong and was not giving customer service... the captain even apologized to me and said he's "just like that" (like that makes it better- it doesn't) Oh and the ATV carts that are going back and forth to help you bring things down to the loading dock from the parking lot have always been helpful not this year! I got there early to set up... parked and paid the fee (different vendor not connected to this place!)... waited for a cart to come by from my venue... I see it and he literally waves me off *rudely* so I struggled to carry ALLLLL the party things to the boat... some of my guests were walking as well and helped me when they saw me... other guests told me the cart looked right at them struggling and passed them and instead went to this "other" (ifykyk what I mean ) family walking BEHIND them NOT struggling and offered to take them instead... now I will give you guess as to who was driving that day.... Did you say the GM?! Bc you're right! Not trying to say he doesn't like POCs but that's the energy it was giving and I was VERY disappointed that day! Went to the store on the docK to find out what was going on and given the excuse (from his son) oh must have been the go carts for the water park they do that sometimes we will talk to them... my dad is driving the other cart... it wasn't the water park to be clear never a sorry... just a very difficult time to get started... don't worry about me EVER using this company again! Bathrooms at the store are disgusting just wait to go onboard the boat you're likely better off! Once we were finally able to take off we had a great time! Captain was amazing and thorough he even used the cart and took us back to our cars one by one by himself! It took me a long time to write this review bc I do not like talking bad about a company. We booked our boat last minute due to a storm coming through the weekend we were in town and VIP as very accommodating to us. They were super affordable for a 4 hour rental and even provided us with a cooler, ice and a tube. About an hour into being on the lake and tubing, our boat started stuttering and making a weird noise after notifying us something was wrong with the oil pressure. We called and they sent us "Jake from StateFarm and Jake 2.0" to save us and tow us back. Alfredo the manager told us there unfortunately weren't any additional boats available for rental and that we could either get a full refund or come back later for a different boat. That's when we begged them to take out their oldest boat and asked for a captain. Alfredo agreed and gave us "Captain Garrett" for the remaining of his shift. Our reservation was extended by a few hours and we were so grateful for their hospitality and putting up with us. Every single person we interacted with at VIPMarina was kind, funny and respectful. Having them being so willing to accommodate us and keep us happy and on the water really made our trip. This was the one activity I was looking forward to and was so nervous with the boat breaking down it would've killed the vibe, but our boys showed up and made it the best time ever. We even got them matching friendship bracelets because they saved us when we were stranded in the lake and captained us around. Jake from State Farm, Jake 2.0 and Captain Garrett were the best guys! They were so funny and kind (they deserve a raise!) In all seriousness, I've never had such a great experience/service from a place and HIGHLY recommend booking a rental through VIP. Had a great day on Lake Travis today. I don't leave a lot of reviews, but I feel this one is worth it. We rented a party barge for the day for a birthday party for our daughter. First time dealing with VIP. I have to say, the people on the calls were very accommodating right off the bat. We couldn't always get through on a few calls, but when we did, everyone was super nice. The parking is a long way from the marina, but I have to assume this is similar to many of the marinas just due to the landscape. We called right at 9:00AM and they were able to send up a "golf cart" to the parking lot. It actually more like a Gator type mini truck. Checking in was uneventful and smooth. Several workers around the marina asked if we needed help - and they did. The ladies in the marina shop were matter-of-fact, but all good. I don't have anything negative to say. They were busy and were doing the best they could for that time of the morning. I was satisfied. However.... we met our captain for the day, Bailey. She was not only helpful, but offered to bring the ice to the boat. Super cool for 12 bags of ice. Afterwards, when we thought we might had left something in our vehicle, she promptly offered to take us back up to our truck. Again, super cool. She was very clear on the rules of the boat and everyone understood. Good service (I've been on a lot of boats and cruises so realize there are rules) Out on the water, Bailey did not disappoint in any manner. She offered to grill our food and helped to make sure everything was in order. Towards the end of our time (around 4PM) she helped deflate our rafts and again was super helpful. After unloading the boat she asked another marina employee to help get us back to our cars using multiple Gator-things. This was sooooo cool since we were pretty tired and it's all uphill. Bottom line, our Captain Bailey, was amazing. Our party was a mix of high schoolers and adults. It was an epic day. We will go back and ask for Bailey. Kudos! read more

Honestly, I'm a bit surprised reading some of the more negative reviews. If it wasn't for the manager Bill and his team, my best friend's bachelorette party would've been done for. She had a really, truly rough week and being on the water this weekend was what she was looking forward to the most. See, we had originally rented a yacht through a different company back in April. That boat just so happened to break down earlier the day of and we weren't notified until after we got there for our booking time. We were offered our money back but we would've just been sitting there basically lost. Bill with VIP Marina stepped up and offered us the barge Big Tex with no additional charge and for the same amount of time that we would've had the yacht. We were literally speechless as this act of kindness. Bill himself was the captain that took us out on the water. The boat was spacious, prepped for passengers and a smooth ride to an island down the way. The crew was incredibly helpful with the food, drinks and bags that we brought. There were multiple coolers, tables, trash cans for use and places to sit. We were able to control the music which was great and there was a ton of extra room for dancing and group photos. At one point there were some guys from another boat that came over to meet some of our ladies and the crew immediately offered to tell them to leave so that we were comfortable. What more could a group of girls ask for? The dock itself was pretty busy with people getting on other boats, I'm not sure if they were personal or not, but I can understand the office being busy and maybe missing a call? The young girls in the shop were very friendly as well. I would 10000% NOT hesitate to call VIP Marina if I were to book a boat again. Such human decency in a time that its kind of hard to come by. I was planning on renting a party barge for my sister's 30th birthday but when I started looking around, all of the barges were already booked, so I had to take an alternate route. After calling several places, I settled on VIP Marina due to the pricing and various boats available (VIP marina has faster boats than JFF). When I made my booking, I was able to talk to the manager and get a small discount for renting two boats. We rented the Bennington Tritoon and the Regal ski boat from 11a-3pm on a Saturday. The Tritoon holds 13 and the ski boat holds 10. We wanted to get two different boats so we could take people tubing on the ski boat. I filled out the paperwork beforehand but it still took 10 minutes inside to get everything signed off and paid (all the people on the boat have to initial the paperwork). It took another 5-10 min. to go through the safety list on the boat. The boats come with a full gas tank so you don't have to worry about coming back to refuel. Our boats worked fine, although my boyf did have a slight issue getting the ski boat to get to full speed. When you return the boat, make sure it's pretty tidy (or they might charge you a fee) and that you have all your life jackets. The service, while friendly, could be a tad bit faster. The marina is located on the Volente side of the lake, so make sure your group knows where they are going. Parking is $7 (CASH ONLY!) but you can get pretty close to the marina. read more

Not sure if she's a sister though, the hair was quite short. I felt like I couldn't take my shirt off, I thought her eyes were on me at all times. With all this being said, we were able to enjoy our time if we tried our hardest to remind ourselves that Bailey was only awful due to how bitter she is at life. Let me start this review by saying I've been on over 20 barges on Lake Travis. I've always wanted to check VIP Marina out because they look like higher quality boats and to be honest, the slides on the barges look awesome. That was the biggest mistake I've ever made. I have NEVER seen a more disrespectful, dishonest, and conniving company in my life. We were thrown around like dogs and were given rules that simply set up a day filled of disaster and no fun. I mean come on, it's lake Travis. We're not in Switzerland or something on a world famous lake. Let's not try and be something we're not. This is a boat rental company on a lake outside of Austin, Texas and nothing more. A respectful and honest staff would be nice, but a more honorable and caring staff would be better; our group received neither, and our money was taken no questions asked because of their contract. This was a disappointing experience. Arrived at the odd parking arrangement and ended up having to call to ask how to find the actual marina. When I called I said that we had coolers and gear and didn't know how to get it down to the dock. She told me we would have to just carry everything. After lugging all of our stuff down the hill I entered the marina to find a woman on the phone who would not even acknowledge my presence. I mentioned that it was hard to bring everything down the hill and she just looked at me. We had reserved a boat for the afternoon ahead of time. She then proceeded to assign us a boat that had half a tank of gas and had ZERO equipment on it. Not even an anchor. Another very nice young woman proceeded to help us. She has to search all over to find life vests, an anchor, a map, a tube an knee board. Come to find out the boat next to us was prepped and ready... not ours. She also said that next time if we would call down they could come get us In their cart... I said that I did call but was not offered that... After we left the dock we realized that the boat we were given was a piece of junk and that the knee board was broken Upon returning we were greeted by another young woman that tied us up. She also offered to help us get our gear to the car. As we were heading out the rude lady told us again that we couldn't have help. We would have to get our cars and gear ourselves. I guess the whole thing might have been understandable... except that if felt as is the "manager" was just in a horrible mood. Seems like she purposely gave us a run down boat that wasn't ready and then for some reason she didn't want to help us by offering their cart. Only the 2nd time going on Lake Travis, this time with VIP Marina. Parking: $7 parking lot (lots of spaces), which was unattended at the time so we had to download an iPhone app and pay that way. with about a 0.25 mile walk, or you can wait for people to take you down with a golf cart. Boat Rental: We rented a $95/hr ski boat with a tube for ~8 people. We brought our own wakeboard. Included were life jackets as well. Boat was in good condition, fit us all comfortably, and gave us no issues. Went plenty fast enough for us beginners! There was plenty of storage on the boat and you can bring your own drinks if wanted. Overall, this was a great experience and I would definitely recommend it for anyone just starting out. The absolute worst company you could possibly go with for a boat party on Lake Travis. I was hosting a boat party with this company for about 60 college students and decided to go with this company because it was the most affordable, and I can honestly say that was a huge mistake. Please take your business elsewhere and make the investment into any other company than this one- because at least then you would get your money's worth. This company is disorganized beyond belief. Upon booking my time slot with this company, I was told I was to receive an email with further information and my contract and did not receive it until weeks later- when I had to call them multiple times to ask where it was. All they told me was they didn't know why it had not been sent and I received it later after the phone call. Not to mention that 4/5 times I would call this company, nobody would answer the phone and they never followed up with their voicemail messages. Upon arrival at the marina parking lot, I called the number instructed to me to call and told them that once the second car in my party with our food was to come, I'd call them again because I would need a golf cart sent to bring down everything. I called 5 times and no one answered, so my guests carried everything down ourselves. The marina itself is also a long walk downhill away from the parking lot, compared to many other companies where you park right next to the boat. You would think any company that advertises themself as a reputable boat party company would have a more efficient system of welcoming and onboarding their guests. However I myself had to find a staff member and ask for instructions to help me guide my party and get us set up. All I heard upon arrival was "you should be good", good for what? The boat they ended up giving us was not even the one on my contract which led to further confusion. My last and biggest point- many boat companies either do not require a security guard (from Cereberus security- which I also do not recommend) or do require one but are more flexible. This company specifically requires you to hire your own security guard through the contract. After I gave the guard and boat company their payment and tip in full, they ended my party 3 hours early than the allotted time I payed because of alleged underaged drinking. The guard told me only the non-compliant guest would be escorted off but the entire boat turned around and returned without communicating with me what was happening. My guess is they got their money and just wanted to get back to shore, they don't care about their guests experience whatsoever. I've been on many boat parties with various companies and not only will I never consider this company again for future events, I'm going to make sure all the other organizations and peers around me who take part in boat parties every semester also understand how terrible this company is to work with. I really wanted to give this place a shot and unfortunately it didn't work out. We had a boat rental scheduled for 1PM - 5PM on a Saturday afternoon with friends/family traveling from out of town to spend the day on the lake. I received a phone call at 10:30AM from Dustin telling me that my the prop on the boat I requested was shredded by a leasee the day before and it is no longer available. Keep in mind the reservation is ~2 hours away. Now, I understand that $#@% happens and there are somethings the marina can't prevent. However, from a customer service perspective, it was totally mishandled. 1. They didn't offer anything (anything!) just as a gesture to show a little empathy around our situation. We literally were told 2 hours before our RSVP that we were out of luck. I would have really appreciated it if they offered some sort of coupon, discount, anything really.... when they called to let me know the boat wasn't available 2. The prop was shredded the day before but they called me only 2 hours before my RSVP. If they called me as soon as the boat was damaged, I would have had more time to arrange for alternative plans. 2 hours before the RSVP put me in a really hard spot. 3. The new guy called. Dustin, who was new to the Marina was really nice but he was new. I obviously had a lot of questions about the situation and he pretty much was just asked to make the call. It would have been nice to have a manager call given the situation. 4. After asking for some sort of compensation, Bri told me that she'd send me a gift certificate for an hour free rental with a minimum of 2 hours. They never sent the certificate.. The WORST CAPTAINS we have EVER had. Bailey and Jessica were terrible captains. Our friend paid $1200 for the party boat and our captains ended our party early. The party next to us was having a wonderful time, celebrating their friends birthday and our captains had the audacity to end our party early and bring us back to the cove and kick us off. Since not all of us brought our wallets onto a boat and brought our IDs onto the boat, the captains were terrible and made us come back to shore 1 hour into our 5 HOUR excursion. Although the experience on the water, boat, and tubing was great, the young blonde girl at the check-in counter was so incredibly disengaged and apathetic to our check-in process, it was disgusting. She clearly didn't want anything to do with us or cared to be at work except talk about surfing with her co-workers. We had no issues with the actual check-in or paperwork, but she might as well of just thrown the paper at us and walked away as that may have been a better experience. Dealing with her alone I would give her 0 or negative stars. However, the the crew-guy who walked us through the boat, check list, and boating details was expedient, thorough, and courteous with 'yes sir' and 'no sir'...'have a great time!'. On our return, he asked how the trip was, smiled with a thumbs up, and said said good bye. He deserves 5 stars for service. I want to preface my review with the fact that I didn't pay for anything, I was just invited to go on a party barge. Which by the way, is totally worth it, if you have 30+ people. Our captain was Brittany and she was really funny and social, which was a plus. Most boat tours and party boats I've been in before have had a relatively flat crew. Downside was paying for parking. I don't really understand the point of that, especially with a party barge rental. There isn't any public parking nearby, so you're basically forced to pay. They are making a killing charging $7 per car on top of all the boat rentals. Otherwise, I loved everything about the place! read more

We just got back from renting a new pontoon boat for 4 hours. It was great! What wasn't great was how we were treated when we returned. We were in the deep water the whole time. In fact- the anchor was too short and we could only stop once. When we signed the agreement paperwork, the guy that gave us the boat said don't worry about the prop- it has two sides bent. As soon as we got back/ not even off the boat yet, they said we wrecked the prop and that we owed them $175 more dollars!! We said- no, we didn't hit anything or even come close to shore. They said, "Oh this happens 3-4 times a day!" WHAT!?? We tried to refuse to pay and were cussed at and said we were rude!! There was nothing they could do because we signed an agreement to pay. And we refused the $40 waiver- but the prop wasn't covered under the waiver anyway!!! WHAT!??? They were rude. We just disagreed with the added charge!! What a racket if they collect that 3-4 times a day!?? And then I just read they have often charged $75 for rusty old anchors!! IF you rent any boat- take photos of the props and anchors before you sign anything!! It ruined our nice day- so we will not be renting from them and we will be filing a complaint with the owners about being cussed at. read more

I would love to give a huge shout out to VIP Marina. We showed up unannounced yesterday to see if we could take the family out on a boat. They were busy and the ladies at the front desk were awesome. They were able to get us a boat the rate was $130 and hour and that included fuel and your choice of a tube or wake board. We chose the tube. Alfredo got us all settled in the pontoon boat and it was super nice he showed us all around the boat and away we went. Our captain, Bailey, ruined our night. She was so hostile and rude and ruined our best friends birthday. We are all 21 and we were given no indication we needed to bring our id so those of us who didn't bring it (because we were going on a boat ride) were not allowed to drink. We paid $1200 and were treated horribly. Bailey spoke to us like we were chopped liver. I am truly upset and disturbed by Bailey's actions and her potty mouth that followed. VIP marina does not have my vote. read more

The WORST boat company ever. If you care about experience or service, do NOT book this company. Booking with them was extremely disorganized. Once we got there, we weren't greeted and received ZERO help carrying our items down to the lake even though they mentioned that there would be assistance. We were greeted by the most unwelcoming and judgmental staff. The captain, security guard, and the other attendant stood there and stared at us as if it was a burden for them to be there. There was no engagement or even a smile on their faces. Not the type of attitude you would like your guests to receive, especially after paying $1400+. The worst part however, was when they cut our time by THREE hours because of an underaged drinking accusation. Before departing, we agreed to terms of them removing the guest who was misbehaving but NOT to turn the ENTIRE boat around and ruin the experience of the other 50 guests that were fine and of age. It is CLEAR that they had no intentions of treating us with respect and fairness. They judged and mistreated us from the start and was waiting for the quickest opportunity to accuse us of breaking a rule so they could return us to land because they were too lazy to finished the promised 3 hours of the event we paid for. Absolutely ridiculous. Do NOT spend your money here, it's not worth it. read more

I have been on multiple party boats and this service was by far the worst. There are other boats on lake Travis that respect the guest on their boat... THIS WAS NOT ONE OF THEM. The boat company did not respect the guest "paying for the boat ride" and the manager didn't do anything. Even if you talk to the manager he will brush you aside. I can't stress this enough... do not pay this much money for this company... they hire the most disrespectful people that don't want you to have a good time. read more

Had a great time on Lake Travis last Saturday. Beautiful day and awesome time with some friends. The only thing that ruined everything was our captain named Bailey. Super unpleasant to be around and would not recommend anybody anybody to be captained by her. read more

the two captains we had earlier today were asking one another if the were "coked out" rude asf never gonna use the company again.

Service was incredible, highly recommended. Two things to note: 1) If you rent on a Sunday, Texas law is you cannot purchase alcohol until noon. Make sure you either bring with you, or order a keg with your boat. 2) If you get a party barge (E.g. Big Tex), you will not be able to go to Devil's Cove. Make sure to do a pontoon boat instead if you want to do that. read more
