This is the second time i've gotten my service done at Virginia Beach Ink & I don't think i'll ever go anywhere else to get my piercings done (unless I move) than here. I've had plenty of piercings done before & the workers at this place were the only ones who really took their time to answer all of my questions & even gave their own input in what's better for my piercings. The recent one i've gotten done is my septum for my nose & before they checked me off to be sent to the piercer-- they examined my nose to see if the columella is straight or not to let me know if the piercing is going to look crooked or not. The piercer told me I don't have a straight columella so if they put the jewelry in, it's not going to be exactly straight however he will pierce it straight still & when the jewelry is forward, it will look straight than crooked. I trusted his judgement & I love my piercing!!! The vibe is really chill also! They have $15 piercings deals on the weekdays + Saturdays & $10 piercings on Sundays! DEAL BREAKER!!! read more

This shop blatantly lied about its Friday the 13th flash sale. Waiting 4 hours for a tattoo then overhearing the front desk staff tell people to come back anytime because that's the flash price all the time. We came because they clearly advertised a Friday the 13th flash sale. Would have never showed up if we knew that was the flash price all the time. So a giant scam to drive traffic to there shop . Also Was told it's a 2 to 2.5 hr wait when we checked in . Which was fine thinking it's a sale . but after 3 hrs we started to notice people who came in after us getting called back for tattoos. Brought this up to the staff and they just said oh they must have been hear before you. We watched them check in after us. Multiple people and we watched as they pulled out the stack of papers multiple times and put them back wrong. Watched the artists come out and just pull random pages from the stack. Not first come first serve. Would not recommend this place because they clearly don't care about customers. I came to Virginia beach at the end of October 2020 to celebrate mi cumpleanos. My friends and I decided to get tattoos.We came to Virginia Beach Ink with fingers crossed. Note, this was my first tattoo. I was super super super nervous. When we came in with our masks, the staff took our temperature, and explained the paperwork that required signature. Our host was extremely polite, friendly and amiable. I wanted the dove with the olive branch outlined above my ankle. Shelley was my tattoo artist. She really helped calm my nerves and reassured me that I would be okay. Lol. I asked to go first before I lost my nerve. Shelley placed the temporary on my ankle to confirm placement then the show got started. It was a painful experience because of my tattoo location. I was glad that they allowed my family to be with me. Even with the pain, I was completely still because I knew this was permanent. The tattoo went fast. Shelley was done in at least 10 minutes. Arrived early for our appointment, checked in and discussed what we wanted. We were kept waiting for an hour past our appointment time while the artist was "preparing". When they came out the drawings that were presented were circles to represent the lady bug we wanted in a very large form. We were told it was "realism" and it was impossible to make a small lady bug. We decided it wasn't a good fit and left the store. While waiting we observed staff members being rude to anyone that entered the shop. For a business you'd think being kind and attempting to stay on time is an important asset. had a navel piercing before i came to get pierced here for the second time. i came a few weeks earlier, to see if i was okay to get another piercing, one of the piercers had looked out for the safety of my healing tissue from my past navel & told me tips to heal my scar tissue. I went here for my 18th birthday to get my nose pierced. The lady at the front desk was very sweet and helpful. I upgraded to an opal since the price of the piercing alone was already so affordable. $15 dollars for basic piercings, and upgrading to an opal was an additional $15 - not bad at all. I got pierced by Clinton, and he was training an apprentice at the time. Both of them were kind and informative. Piercing was fast and easy. Overall, good prices, good piercings. Three other people and I went to get matching tattoos all of our tattoos came out infected! I'm not going to speak for everyone else but I know I have taken proper care of my tattoo from the moment I received it. Along with knowing that my tattoo isn't the only one that is infect also in my opinion shows something is off. We split of into pairs one artist took me and my friend while another two my two aunts. My artist had better line work then the one who did my two aunts tattoos but it too him forever to even start on the tattoo! Both of my aunts were done with there tattoos before me or my friend even got started and we were in the back 10 minutes before they came back! When my turn came to get the tattoo the artist cleaned the arm and the work area but then got up to take a smoke break came back while I sat in the chair waiting. He came back cleaned my arm again then proceeded to tattoo me. While he was tattooing me he told me to come back for touch ups, I told him I won't be coming back due to the fact I didn't live in town! He then proceeded to Press down hard, saying he was going to make sure the ink was in good since I wasn't able to come back! The shop opens at 12pm and I drove all the way from Smithfield (1 hour and 10 minute drive) to get my daughter's piercings. I arrive at the shop and on the door they have a sign saying, "the piercer will not be in until 3:30." So, we wait! We come back to the shop around 3:10 to start the paperwork and the front desk lady informs me that the piercer won't be in until 4pm. So, we wait! We waited an hour! The piercer comes in (4:10 pm) and checks to see if my daughter can get an industrial piercing which she couldn't. Cool. My daughter selects different piercings. However, the piercer decides to take someone in front of my daughter who came in after us!! So, we waited some more!!! I do not recommend this shop to anyone and will never come back!! I really wanted to like this place but I'm honestly pretty disappointed with the piercings I received. I came in 03May2021 and got my philtrum (medusa) and both my nipples pierced, paid $200 tip included. The front desk staff was lovely, and they were super helpful with picking jewelry. And the piercer was also nice, but so far all of my piercings have had to come out. My lip was swollen the first 2 days, and it started to dig into the back of my lip and cut it, and rub against my teeth. I gave it a few more days and by the time the swelling had come down I realized it was pierced crooked, which is why it was cutting into my lip. I took it out on the 08May2021 and called to see what could be done and was offered a re-pierce once it heals which I'm honestly not willing to do given the current circumstances. As for my nipples, this was my second time getting them done. The first time they were done perfectly and I had 0 pain or infections for the 2 years I had them. But this round was nothing like that, I was in searing pain for a solid week after and they were pretty infected right away. I understood it would be more painful with scarring from a previous piercing, but it was unbearable. I cleaned them multiple times a day with sterile saline, never used soaps or perfumes near them, and soaked them every night also in sterile saline. Never took baths, never went swimming, only touched them when my hands had been washed with antibacterial soap, always made sure to sleep in clean shirts at night so they wouldn't snag and wear clean clothes daily that came into contact with them. I had to go on antibiotics to clear the infection. I noticed they were pierced pretty deep but hadn't had too much of an issue with it until it started cratering two weeks ago. I took them out 05July2021 after consulting 3 other shops because the cratering was so severe the balls on both ends of the jewelry on both nipples were being completely swallowed by my skin. They were pierced in my areola, and not the nipple, so the entire ring was swallowed by my skin and causing a lot of damage and pain. While I was slightly understanding with the lip piercing being crooked, I'm beyond disappointed that I've spent $200 and all three piercings have had to come out and left a ton of deep scarring on my nipples and the back of my lip. read more

I'm an African American women, took my 2 little sister here my 17 yo sister was getting a nose ring. My 14 year old sister was just getting her 2nd earring piercing. They came in town for Christmas and this was my gift to them ( we planned our sister outing before they arrived! We walked in 1 receptionist was behind the counter phone was ringing as we walked in she answered the phone and didn't welcome us when we walked in never said I will be with you turned her back on us and proceeded the phone call. She got off the phone I told her what they were getting I was asked for guardianship paperwork. I explained I'm their 34 yo big sister, was told I would need my moms Id and mine asked if I could have my mom on FaceTime and send a picture of the id was told no she had to be in the building. FaceTime my mom and told her and her and my aunt drive up there. Then receptionist says she needs ID's for both my sisters. Ok my 17 year old sister has a permit but how many 14 yo have an ID???! Was told she could use her schoology account. Again my siblings live in SC they dont use schoology they use google classroom. I had them pull up their profiles she said it was lit good enough! My mom comes with my 17yo sisters id and signs the paperwork. By this time 4 Caucasian women are ahead of us and only 2 of them we're getting pierced. The other 2 friends standing outside the curtain area and were allowed to do so the entire time! My mom had to accompany my sister in the back. I'm standing right where the other Caucasian women were and the other receptionist who had came in walks up to me and says " I'm gonna need you to have a seat love" while moving her hands and frowning her face. This was the 2nd time she told us we needed to have a seat. So I'm expressing to my aunt how I don't like the attitudes mind you I paid for this! While I'm talking to my aunt the other receptionist tells me she needs me to leave Bc she's not going to allow me to talk about her coworker that way. When I simply stated I didn't like her attitude. Before I walked out I told her they need a lesson in customer service Bc I felt disrespected the entire time and that I came there Bc this is where I had my piercings done at! This review is specifically tied to the customer service and business practices. I was referred to a ROXIE J for a cover up tattoo back in February who works at Virginia Beach Ink. I contacted her via her Instagram page and sent her a picture of what I wanted covered up and pictures of what I wanted and asked her if she could do it. She said that she could. She said that a deposit of $50 would be required and that she was booking for the end of March and April. No problem. I asked her if she took cash app or paypal. She said that the deposit would need to be paid in person. ***DEEP SIGH*** This shop is almost an hour from my place of business in traffic, even longer if I'm coming from my house, so it's an inconvenience for me to drive all the way out there JUST TO PAY A DEPOSIT!!!! If you're going to require a deposit, you need to be able to take it electronically. However, your business - your rules, so I decided to suck it up because she came highly recommended. I told her I would have to find the time to drive ALL THE WAY OUT THERE. Fast forward to March 26th. I finally carved out some time to go do it. I messaged Roxie to make sure she would be there and she said she would definitely be there by 12:30. When I responded to her message to confirm the address and she said the following: "Ma'am unfortunately I have to reconsider after looking at it again with my mentor at the moment that's something I'm not going to be able to take on." WAIT WHAT???!!! What happened to your tattooing skills since February 28th that you can't do it? You just told me 3 hours ago that you would be in the shop, now when I confirm the address you all of a sudden can't do it?! I responded with a WOW. She then said "Sorry about that but there was a cover incident in the shop and it's caused us to be more cautious with accepting them." While I appreciate the response (because I would have been VERY upset to get there only to find that you can't do it) which is the reason for the one star, this entire experience has left a nasty taste in my mouth. I could have had it done elsewhere by now; instead I was trying to find the time to carve out in my schedule to drive to Virginia Beach and pay a deposit in person. I walked in today to get a daith piercing to potentially help with my migraines. Shimp took me within 10 minutes of me arriving, paying and filling out the necessary forms. He was personable, professional and extremely quick. He even helped re-pierce my tragus that had previously fallen out. It was quick, painless and it looks amazing. A friend and I went here to get our second nostril piercing done. The piercer was really rough. It's the only time I've ever see. A nose piercing done without a receiving tube or cork to catch the needle. We both needed up with bumps on our noses, which we treated with the aftercare they sell. Well my friends got worse. She just went into another shop and they told her to throw away the after care, that it's made IN SOMEONES KITCHEN! What the hell? Never again. In response to the reply I received. There have actually be quite a few people who have had an adverse reaction to your brand of "after care". Just because no one else has brought it to your attention via social media doesn't mean it doesn't happen. To say that the service was exceptional is an understatement. I had heard many good things about Virginia Beach Ink, so deciding to go there was an easy choice. I wanted to get my nipples pierced so I was happy to know that they would still be piercing when I got off work(unlike other shops I had looked into). I walked in to see two friendly faces that welcomed me in. The shop itself was very clean and the decorations were cute(I liked the little Buddha statues). The pricing there was pretty cheap compared to most in Hampton Roads. It was $50 for both, but since I got a different ring then the standard it was $10 more. The process itself was quick and it didn't hurt too bad. If I'm honest I thought it would feel weird to take my shirt off in front of strangers, but they kept me from feeling uncomfortable. It actually wasn't weird for me at all. The only bad thing for me though, is that I got really light headed after because i hadn't eaten since before work. However, the staff took really good care of me. They gave me water and something to bring up my sugar levels, cooled me down, and made sure I was feeling better before I left. It was a little embarrassing for me because I had the reaction to it, but they assured me it was normal since I hadn't eaten in a while. Before I left they gave me an aftercare guide and informed me when I can change my rings out. Overall, the staff is what really made me feel they deserve a five star review. I've never seen a staff that cared so much for their customers. They had amazing service and I love my piercings:) Thankful for Shimp and the nice lady at the front desk. In October 2018, I paid $50 for a mid-ear cartilage piercing with Neometal jewelry. They used too short of a stud that did not allow room for swelling and to make things worse, it was crooked. I cleaned it 3+ times a day (with aftercare solution purchased from them) for 10 days, and my ear had swollen up so bad that it consumed the little stud they used. I went back, and a different piercer had to use tweezers to remove the stud. They reassured me the hole was still salvageable. I trusted this other "professional" piercer's advice and went ahead with a longer backing. I went back to VB ink to follow up and this third "professional" piercer told me that my ear was punctured badly. I was told the piercing was crooked, was finally advised to let it heal and was offered a complimentary re-piercing. I allowed it 4 weeks to heal, as suggested, and ordered a larger stud this time. When I went to get it re-done again, they ordered the same small stud but thankfully had a larger size in stock. This new placement seemed a bit off and weeks later I kept noticing it getting caught by my hair and clothes, like it was sticking out too much. I went to a different piercing shop and they informed me that the piercing was not done right....again. Then today it got caught and the clamped jewelry ripped out of my ear.
