Went back today to have a squamous cell carcinoma removed - easily, painlessly, and quickly removed by Dr Soe's staff - all super professional! Michelle and Jamie, the two ladies at front registration desk are fantastic as well! It seemed (to me) to be a briskly busy Friday, but they controlled everything with grace and perfect aplomb - there were even a couple of ancient patients (like me!) who needed some help with the newer registration technology, and Michelle was so very helpful, patient, kind, and sweet! - just as Jamie was last week when I was the newbie! Again, a most impressive visit for me, and I'll continue to strongly recommend this office - and, ladies, I sure hope that I got your names right!! read more

OMG! Never have I had a Dr/PA So Rude and useless! Besides waiting a long time past my appt time, I finally got to see the PA. She was so rude and condescending! She wanted me to locate on my scalp where the sore spots were. Well I cant see them, that's why I came here. She did nothing but argue with me that she didn't see anything. She looked for like 10 seconds. How about putting on some gloves and inspect my scalp? That's what I think any other DR/PA would do. This place is terrible, go anywhere else, I thought about calling my insurance company to tell them not to pay them. I'm very easy going but I can only take so much incompetence. I went to this office because I was getting unexplained spots on my skin and wanted answers about what was causing them. At my first appointment, I paid the initial consultation fee, but they were unable to determine the cause of the problem. At a follow-up appointment, I was told they still could not identify the issue and that a biopsy would be necessary. I paid for the biopsy, which cost over $100. Later, I underwent another biopsy and paid another fee of over $100. When I returned to receive my results, I was charged an additional fee of approximately $90. However, even after all of these appointments and charges, I still felt that I was not given clear information about what was going on. Several weeks later, I received a separate bill from the outside laboratory that analyzed the biopsy samples. The laboratory is now charging me an additional $490. At no point was I informed that I would receive a separate bill or incur additional charges from a third-party laboratory. I called the office to discuss the situation and find out what could be done. I was told that the bill was not their responsibility and that it was my responsibility to pay it. I explained that I had never been informed that there would be an additional charge from an outside laboratory. Their response was that, according to their records, I should have been told. However, I was not told. When I became upset and tried to explain my concerns, I was told they were ending the call, and the conversation was terminated. I am frustrated because I was never properly informed about these additional costs and feel that I should have been given clear notice before any services were performed that would result in a separate $490 bill. read more

Agree with most of the other negative comments. The doctor is unprofessional, rude, and arrogant. It is impossible to speak to anyone on the phone, even when the front desk people are sitting there doing nothing. They just let it rollover to the answering machine. They expect you to communicate with them via their text messaging system which is very frustrating and impossible if you are driving. And they don't care. I mentioned it multiple times. A 2 year old could make better evaluations than anyone at this clown show. Went in for rash. Saw assistant and not the Doctor. Fine. However, assistant prescribed a medication based on her evaluation which was rushed in my opinion. However, the treatment I received afterwards was pathetic. Had adverse reaction to medication for the rash. Contacted them 2x by text (their preferred way of communication) and also a voice mail. When I finally received a call, I was told that I should not have a reaction to the medication and to use some product that is available over the counter. I then stated that this does not solve the issue, but just keeps the itching at bay. Was then told that I would need to have a biopsy. Originally was told that the assistant I saw was not available for 3 weeks out, so I guess I was to put up with the itching. Like I care who I saw at this point. Was given appointment for next day with another assistant. I decided that going again was a waste of time and canceled via text 2x and again via voice mail. I and my insurance pay to see a doctor, not an assistant that rushed me out the door. As a business owner myself, I am surprised this place is still around. Definitely my fault for not coming to Yelp first. Oh, the only good part is that the receptionist was nice. read more

I was referred to Dr Soe at Virginia Street Dermatology because of a recent breakout on my young face of 68 years. Upon arrival for my appointment, I was amazed by the cleanliness of the building and office area. The office staff was professional and accommodating as I filled out the paperwork. Their pleasant demeanor was comforting to all that came to the office. After a very short wait, I proceeded back to the examination rooms for a visual scan of my breakout and a small patch of melanoma was also identified at this time. A biopsy of that was sent away for analysis and it was confirmed to be a melanoma growth in its earliest stages. Dr Soe scheduled an in office surgery to eliminate any remaining skin cancer on this spot. She and her staff performed flawlessly and eliminated my melanoma. Dr Soe is a very caring doctor who explained everything which helped me feel at ease. I realize that living in Florida and enjoying the outdoors and boating in the sunshine state could have consequences when not using enough sunscreen. I will be seeing Dr Soe and her staff for quite some time to stay on top of any unusual skin growth related to melanoma and I'm forever grateful to all that are a part of the team at Virginia Street Dermatology. My husband went in for a rash on his back. It came back undetermined. The PAC kept talking about lymphoma after admitting that she had not seen anything like it. At this point, I feel the doctor should been involved. The skin test came back inconclusive. She repeatedly kept talking about lymphoma. Another biopsy and scraping was done. Again inconclusive. Not lymphoma though. I am angry at the implications, but also angry the doctor was not involved when they had not seen anything like it. It was a HELL week for us. This is the worst dermatology office I have ever been to. The other negative reviews of this office provide details of their similarly negative experiences so I know I'm not the only one. Same story, different details. They all speak about a doctor and her staff that is uncaring, unskilled, dangerous, and unapologetic. Review after awful review give details of their experiences at this office, and does anyone care who works here? I do not see evidence of that. Even if they made a comment I'd assume it was only lip service just based on my personal experience with them. I initially went here for the first time six years ago for a routine skin cancer check. She didn't find any skin cancer (although I had a spot of squamous cell carcinoma on the side of my nose), but they did sell me $400 worth of Botox injections. I never went back for Botox because the way Soe did it, it made my expression permanently lopsided, even after it wore off. She told me she did it "unevenly to preserve my expression." As the years went by I needed other skin issues addressed, and each time whether I saw the nurse practitioner, Teresa Bowman, or the owner/dermatologist, Kathleen Soe, I got the feeling each time that they were completely unsympathetic and their treatments never worked long term to resolve my problems. What I now know about skincare is that it needs to be addressed internally and externally. No one ever spoke to me about using diet, nutrition or lifestyle to address skin issues at this office. They can and do, however, prescribe lots of steroid cream here. So if you are looking for a large prescription of steroid cream and lots of time and money wasted on treatments that will definitely ultimately make you sicker, this is the place to go. I'm sorry to have to write this because it is harsh, but it's true: If you choose to go here after reading these reviews and you have a bad experience or your body gets permanently damaged, you have no one to blame but yourself. Just left a follow up appt for my daughter concerning her acne. I want to start out by saying that the nurse practitioners there are amazing. It's unfortunate they have to work under Dr.Soe. Dr. Soe is the most unprofessional, rude, arrogant doctor I have ever come in contact with. To begin, I am the patients mother as well as a registered nurse and also a patient at this office. Not only did she question my parenting skills, she put down my career and professional knowledge by reminding me that SHE was the doctor. She pushed for my teenager to begin birth control after we had told her twice it was not healthy and it was not an option for us concerning acne control. I shared with her our recent move to the Florida climate and how both of us have had issues with our skin since our move. She said it was not humidity related and that I was not the patient in todays visit. Basically to keep my mouth shut as the patient was not me today. My daughter was in tears when we left and it was decided today that they have now lost 2 patients as neither one of us will be returning. I am not one to leave reviews but as a mom, patient and a nurse, I need to let the pubic know that this is NOT an office I would ever recommend, personally or professionally. Do your research and take yourself and your loved ones elsewhere. The worst bedside manor I have ever experienced. Shame on Dr.Soe. She doesn't deserve the privilege of patient care. I made an appointment in May to see Dr. Soe for a "one spot check only" visit. I was scheduled for August 6. I received a call from her office a few days before the appointment stating Dr. Soe had to rescheduled. We rescheduled to Jan 6, 2020. I received a call yesterday stating yet again the doctor would have to reschedule. My new date is Feb 7, 2020. I called back and canceled. I am afraid to wait any longer. The one spot on my forehead that Dr. Soe should have looked at five months ago is looking very bad. Now I have to spend my time today and tomorrow looking for another "insurance approved" dermatologist to look at this one spot. When I finally get my results from someone soon, and if they are bad, Dr. Soe will be hearing from my lawyer. read more

I still think about the time where I was getting checked for this cyst and she proceeded to talk about if I was in college, to which I responded no not yet and she ridiculed me and made me feel like garbage about my life choices. I was so in shock that I heard a doctor talk to me like this. She was comparing me to her son that knows exactly what he's doing saying he has a path ahead of him and I don't. It seems like what I'm saying is fake, but I honestly could not believe anything she was saying, I thought she was joking! I have been seeing Dr. Soe since 2007. I originally went for a routine skin check, but at a later visit she discovered Melanoma on my back. She was able to remove it in the office and so far so good. I go to get a full body check every 6 months. Getting this routine exam and the keen eye of Dr.Soe probably saved my life. I am very pleased with the treatment I get each and every time i go for my check ups. I have also gotten several Blue Light treatments on my legs and arms with good results. Nancy is the Best! Nurse practitioner looked at bump on my arm and said it was a keratosis. I insisted on a biopsy. I had to call office for results. They said "no big deal, come in and we will scrape it off". Appointment was for THREE weeks later. Upon arrival, I questioned prep nurse as to what was going on as I recently had blue light treatment which was supposed to eliminate all pre-cancerous cells. She then advised me i had squamous. At no time did they tell me about my treatment choices, viz Moh's surgery. The only reason I knew about Moh's was I had a previous bout of squamous and my then physician was very thorough in explaining the difference in the success rate of scraping it off versus Moh's surgery. Virginia St ofc was more concerned about getting paid for a visit than for my health. I returned to my previous doctor even though he is an hour away. read more

Worst experience I have ever had at a Derm. Office and I have seen Drs all across the nation. As a result I now have a huge scar and ended up with an undiagnosed infection. I knew something was wrong right away. I was in a lot of pain & could only lay down. I showed a nurse friend & another non Derm. Dr. whom both said it was infected. I went in to be seen and the PA gave me some cream "just in case". She closed the door after the nurse/tech walked out & said we don't want to risk it being MRSA. What?! So then a few days later I meet the Dr for stitches removal. The Dr (Soe) did not even introduce herself. Instead shows me a sign about toilet paper usage that she thinks is funny to put in her employee bathroom as they are having problems. Hello, I am in pain & could care less & who are you? She looks at it for 2 secs & tells me it looks PERFECT. I know something is wrong. Even your PA did that's why I got the cream. So I go to my PCP she puts me on antibiotics right away does testing & sure enough I have a serious infection! I get called in 2 more antibiotics. Yes just perfect. I call to complain & tell them about the bedside manner, time lost from work, lack of diagnosis & unnecessary money spent. Not to mention what I have been through for a minor mole removal & the office mgr was the rudest person ever. I can't believe this lady deals with patients. She needs to be sent to customer service training. Blaming it on me. Well why didn't u come back here? Are u kidding me? U told me an obvious serious infection was PERFECT. Why would I trust my health to you again? Then slams me with a $300+ bill for it. Daylight robbery. God forbid I took her advice & left it alone. Stay far far away. Dr. Soe is nice, and I never had a long wait time, but she did nothing to help me with my psoriasis. Said there was nothing I could use on my face, I should sleep with vegetable oil on my scalp every night, and the areas on my body did not require prescription creams. I should just use Vaseline. Really??? After suffering the past two years and my condition worsening, I found a new doctor in Tampa who I love. I'll never return to Dr. Soe. Also, her skin cancer checks are a joke, and the nurse practitioner is extremely rude. The receptionists are nice and Paige Bowman, the aesthectician is absolutely wonderful. My dad is a hard working construction/iron worker he works out in the blazing heat/sun all day he is 56 years old and he recently went to the hospital And found out he might have 3 different skin cancers and told him he needed to see a dermatologist asap so he got an appointment a few days later at Virginia street dermatology he called the next day and it was 35 dollars to get in he is the only one in our household with an income so by the end of the week he is going broke the day he went in it changed to 45 dollars and he didn't have it and they refused to see him his skin is getting really bad and they just refused to see him and now the appointment that was supposed to be asap is now July,9 2 months down the road what kind of lowsey person would do that to another human being, thank you for nothing sincerely his son read more
