They will take prescriptions from other opticians and they always have some kind of deal on, usually 2 for 1 on their £75 range. You can also have the second pair tinted as sunglasses which is a good way to get a pair if you are like me and can't wear normal sunglasses without being as blind as a bat! I had my eyes tested in there and I did have to wait a long time, despite having an appointment. This was the first opticians where I have felt confident that they were really checking my eyes thoroughly, including the air puff test. The robotic thing that swaps the lenses out is far more efficient than other opticians where they use the removable lenses by hand, and they have a lot of technical gear that is reassuring even if it is just for show! There is no pressure to buy anything as I don't think the staff work on commission so you can go away and think about it before you buy. The staff are also good at advising you on what shaped glasses would suit you and there are a range of tints and anti-scratch coatings that you can get.

I previously stopped coming to Vision Express after an issue with a scheduled eye test being cancelled, despite confirming the appointment would be OK, I was annoyed as I was spammed with calls in the early morning, which triggered the "Do Not Disturb" feature on my phone to turn off, surely just ringing once and leaving a message is okay? This happened in 2020. More recently, the service has improved a lot, the staff are very friendly and helpful and seem to have good knowledge of repairing glasses and offering recommendations. The prices seem to be fairly good, especially for designer glasses, of which the selection is much better than Specsavers, but better value for money compared to Boots. The store is fairly attractive and modern, as they did relocate to this unit within the mall a couple of years ago, with it still feeling fresh. One thing I really hate about this store is how they have a large number of their glasses locked away under lock and key, I can totally understand they want to protect their more expensive frames from thieves, but it ruins the interactive part of the store, if you have to have a staff member unlock a cupboard and stand over you, sure the staff are lovely, but I much prefer being able to browse without feeling the social awkwardness. Overall, a pretty good store, but putting security tags on their high-end glasses, rather than locking them away, similar to their Trafford store would be a huge improvement. 4*

There seemed to be an abundance of staff with not much to do but I'm not complaining as this meant there was no waiting around to get help. They stock all the latest popular designer frames and styles including Gucci and Police that you find in the big chains. Their special offers are just as good too with a free second pair of spectacles including bifocals and varifocals. If you try varifocals but don't get on with them they give you thirty days in which to exchange them for standard bifocals.

After having contracted a condition where it's hard for me to be exposed to…read morebright lights (meaning I'll need to constantly wear shades), I went into (almost) every optician in Liverpool to browse for prescription-based sunglasses, and for an overall price comparison; from Blankstone to Boots to Vision-Express to Bennet and Batty's, and then some. Now all of the opticians just listed and good, I wouldn't discourage going to any of them, however, I just find Millican to be the best, for several reasons: 1. They seem to have the widest range of sunglasses: Specifically Ray-Bans. I can't comment on other glasses they have in stock (though I will say they do seem to have a very large collection overall), but they definitely seem to have the largest collection of sunglasses, especially Ray-Ban's. They're also the only optician's that i've been to that has the Lennon Glasses, the perfectly rounded sunglasses that John Lennon wore. 2. Their prices are relatively cheap: I won't say their the cheapest as I forgot the prices for the other opticians, however, they are relatively cheap in terms of price. I believe of the 5 - 6 opticians I went to, around half of them quoted a price of under £300, the other half £300 - £450. (Note: I also requested the sunglasses to be reflective, and again their prescription based, not to mention Ray-Bans are designer wear, so this adds to the total cost of the sunglasses). So basically, in sum, they won't rip you off. 3. Very friendly and professional staff: There's not a single person there who didn't provide exemplary service. Now I won't slate any of the previously mentioned opticians based on their service, and I generally didn't feel like I wasn't welcomed in any of them. However, the ladies at Millican really do seem to give a damn. They're just on a level of magnitudes more friendly, approachable, and attentive. Again, it's not that other opticians provide bad service, but rather it's that Millican provides great service. For instance, the ladies didn't actually know about my condition at the very start (as I kept that to myself). There was lots of friendly small talk as I was browsing, and one of them asked me if I was wearing them to go on holiday, to which I replied that I was not, but that I have this condition of mine. At this point she became much more involved, providing feedback such as "This particular shade might look a bit feminine" (they were rosy-gold shades), "This shape might suit you more", and even suggested between two similar looking shades the ones that were bigger, as they block out more sunlight (which would help with my condition). I really appreciated her input, and it's commendable that she was much more involved once she knew the sunglasses was going to be a permanent fixture, rather than a temporary thing. When I finally picked a pair I like (am very picky), I asked if they could be ordered in various shades so as to try them out. It turned out that the company who issues was about to close on that the same day for 3 weeks, so the lady asked one of her colleagues to try and get in contact whilst we discuss various details, and I must say, they treated it like a military operation. There was no messing around on their behalf, they just did it. Overall it was an absolute pleasure visiting Millican's, and to rate them anything other than a 5-star service would be an injustice.

The staff here were super friendly, from the fantastic optician Mohammed who even warranted a compliment from Boots when I picked up my new glasses, to the lovely women who took my details and run the floor. They did have a good selection of glasses, I only went to another optician after my eye test here for my glasses as they stocked the Dolce and Gabanna brand which they don't seem to stock here, plus they were running a better promotional offer to make it worthwhile. It was so easy getting an appointment, you can make them in-store or online, they did move my appointment earlier but this was better for me, they would have kept it at the same time but didn't want me to be rushed during the test and then looking at picking up new glasses. They did close early on one occasion, I did turn up five minutes before closure, after making them aware this was addressed. 4* - Great Opticians, solve problems well when they do occur. Having a better selection of glasses to compete with Boots, Vision Express and Specsavers should be a priority. It is a shame in the refurb they didn't improve technology such as with the eye testing machines instead of the heavy lense frames, similar to Vision Express.

This is a nice Vision Express location, located on the lower level of the Trafford Centre, I have…read morevisited this store a couple of times over the years, and more recently I actually visited this store and returned to becoming a customer with Vision Express, down to their in-store environment and glasses selection. The store has been refurbished within the past year or two, meeting the new Vision Express branding, the new logo and interior of the store look much more sleek and modern overall. One thing I like about this store, is they have a fantastic selection of designer frames, including brands such as Gucci, Tom Ford, Hugo Boss and Burberry, without locking them down behind a key, this makes the in-store experience much simpler and interactive, as you can try on glasses in your own time, without having a staff member standing over you and chatting, it's much more relaxing, independent and peaceful - This is a huge advantage over my local Vision Express at Manchester Arndale, which seems to lock them all away. My biggest criticism with the selection of eyewear overall would be the need to move towards frames, that have thick temple tips, I'm not sure if this is the way fashion is going, but I find them to be really uncomfortable, and the selection with the thinner rims is much less. The staff here seemed friendly and knowledgeable, and I also appreciate Vision Express' return policy, I was originally unhappy with the discomfort of my original glasses, caused by the thick temple tips and weight, and I was able to swap my glasses over, paying just the difference in the cost of the frame, no questions asked. The prices for designer frames are also competitive compared to high-street rivals, I actually found them cheaper compared to Boots nearby, and buying direct with some manufacturers such as Oakley (The cost of buying lenses directly from Oakley is insane!) 4* - Overall, this Vision Express selection has good service, competitive pricing and a good returns policy, a few minor flaws, but they've helped won my custom over, and I hope it will continue.
