There are 3 different campgrounds and there are a good amount of sites. Our site was very spacious and not too close to others for a campground. Very well kept, clean spaces, a place for garbage, very clean restrooms (vault toilets). Each spot has a nice fire ring and a picnic table with 2 tent spaces and parking. The lake is very nice and a great place for an evening stroll. The road coming in is mostly unpaved but I think any car could easily get in and out as it is graded. Highly recommend camping here if you want to avoid the loud/busy state parks and be out a tad.

TIf u r not dog friendly then beware! They have 2 (friendly)…read moredogs who watch out for friends and any danger. It is located on the Front of Poplar Lake so it does provide a scenic backdrop. The bar and grill place is great, People are Kind, friendly and energized. They have 2 pool tables, 1 football, old fashioned juke box, darts game. They make even have a karaoke but I did not check. They have patio seating for the warm season. Evidently, wild rice is a local occurrence and I was pleasantly surprised to find wild rice pilaf on their menu. It was yummy, In fact, we had it in lunch and then again for dinner. Pizza is equally great. Review of the lodging- we rented what they call a "villa" here. It comes with 2 bedrooms, kitchen, washroom, living ( with fireplace)and dining area. One queen bed and 2 double beds in another. It would be a fun place for a group or a family as u get a nice view of the lake from all rooms. Tips: for winter rentals, make sure u reserve atleast 24 hrs in advance. We were literally walk - ins. And guess what, are villa was unbearably cold through the evening and until the check out time the next day. They have floor heating which still seems like a hoax/ untrue coz it takes forever to warm up. So better check before paying if the room is warm and cozy. So we finally requested for a refund or a heater for the night. Heating effect of the fireplace is also minimal.

They had A LOT of stuff in that condo, which for an Airbnb unit seemed like too much and we didn't really have a good spot to put our luggage. The fireplace and view are incredible. We visited during the off-season, which was ideal. I'd imagine peak season might feel a bit too busy for us, especially since the lake view is from a shared backyard/patio space. I loved how this unit allows dogs but if you are traveling with a pet, keep in mind the layout is hotel-style. If your dog is sensitive to hallway noises or neighbors above and beside you, they might be prone to barking. Unfortunately, we found a bag of trash behind the door upon check-in that smelled like tobacco. We had to leave the windows open to air the place out, which was a bummer since it was freezing outside.

It's a small unit, big enough for just two people. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need to cook a meal and plenty of kitchen ware. Electric stove and microwave are very well kept, nothing you would be afraid of cooking in. The living room was nicely situated to the fireplace and T.V. (Satellite, DVD player included). The bathroom was beautifully decorated. One downside was the drainage on the tub/shower, doesn't drain too quick. I love the location of this unit(north edge of the building) you can hear the crashing of the waves against the rocks, it reminded me of the ocean. However, the one downside of this location is it is on the lower level and next to an entrance, so it can be a bit noisy from other tenants. We reserved through Air-B-N-B and the owner was very pleasant to work with. Thank you so much for your condo and we look forward to future stays.

We booked our stay with Cascade Vacation Rentals. The booking process was easy, but the pet fee was…read morea bit confusing. It was a flat fee of $100 plus tax for up to two animals. I couldn't find the fee before booking, so I didn't know what it was until I received my receipt. I thought $100 was a little high. The amenities in the unit were nice, but very minimal. They could benefit from providing silverware, plates, and maybe even a toaster or toaster oven. However, the fireplace and whirlpool tub were top-notch. The resort also lacks privacy. They have beautiful windows that open up to offer views of the river and Lake Superior, but the North Shore Trail, which guests can use for lake access, runs right in front of all the units so if you want your blinds open your basically on display most of the time. Luckily, we visited during the off-season, so the resort wasn't busy at all. We stayed in room 556, and in our building specifically, our enclosed patio faced directly into one of the other units. Again, we were lucky that it was non-peak season, but it wouldn't have been my preference if the resort was busier. I was happy to see they offered pet-friendly rooms, but I wish I had booked one without the enclosed patio for easier access to let the dog outside. Parking was convenient, with designated spots right in front of the building. Overall, the stay was nice, but I would probably choose a different option if I returned to the area.

Wow, is this place a treat! It was built as a B&B, and owners Bob and Marlys really make sure it…read morelives up to the design. We were running late, and Bob stayed around at the window for us about an hour later than we had anticipated checking in. We were welcomed and given the grand tour of the B&B: several rooms on the top floor, including our queen bedroom with shower; the main floor, which has loads of books, a cozy gas fireplace, lots of comfy chairs and tea and coffee on demand as well as a dining room table; and the basement which has a sauna (with shower and toilet) and ski room with an area to get ready to ski and a waxing stand. The digs are clean and homey, and the entire house is scattered with art from Marlys (a truly talented woman) and other notable area artists including Jim Brandenburg. I felt like I was staying at a nice, warm cabin of a friend. If this is a ski destination trip for you (as it was for us) the Pincushion Mountain trail system is literally right out the door. And the skiing was amazing! We had about 1.5-2 feet of pack compared to the Twin Cities' nothing during the first full weekend in January. The sauna was a real treat after skiing in sub-zero temps. All I can say is, we'll definitely be back!

We stayed in the birch room. The bathrooms (except for the pine room- we were the only ones there, so she showed us around) are small but it's not like I'm spending quality time in there. A former pediatric nurse, lynn runs this charming bnb with her retired friend ruby. yummy breakfasts (accommodated our veggie needs), views of the lakes, a great sauna in the basement, and birds all around. Hiking and x-country trails cross along the road to her property. We were here in the early fall, watching the leaves start to turn.
