That was 2 1/2 weeks ago and no one from Commonwealth has contacted any of us family members to offer condolences. No one came to her funeral. The food is nothing like what was promised. It is comparable to public school lunches at best. The activities are very lacking. The housekeeping and daily trash service rarely happen. The call buttons don't guarantee anyone will come within one hour. Our mother fell twice. The first time, she laid on the floor until the breakfast crew came. The second time, she texted my brother because no one was coming and he got there before anyone answered her call for help. She was afraid of repercussions if we, her family would complain or contact the director. We even observed her PTSD from the falls and trauma that she suffered from those falls. After hospice came in a declared her terminal, we stayed with her 24/7. This was eye-opening! Their computer system is faulty. It is different between what the Resident Care Director logs into her computer and what the Medteks see on their computer. Therefore she was getting incorrect dosages, etc. We had to write down every med she was supposed to receive and make sure that is what she got and most of the time, we had to go find a Medtek to administer the meds. They do not have enough workers and the ones who are there work 2 and 3 shifts at a time. The morale between poorly paid employees and directors is very strained. Bravo to the truly caring people who were working there. They are few and far between. You must be aware of these inconsistencies.

She's treated wonderfully by everyone, especially her caregiver, Kison. Also, Chris, Bethany, and Jamie are employees in her unit and they are upbeat and cheerful. All of the employees seem to know all of the residents' names, and that's pretty impressive. I'm so happy to have found this great facility, and it's only two miles from where she lived before she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. There are so many activities scheduled, she is never bored. I did visit and research other places before deciding on Brandywine, and I'm very happy I made the choice I did. She is also happy there, and I love seeing her happy when I visit. Family activities are scheduled regularly, and the dining room facility is basically a restaurant with a menu...families are welcome to join residents for a meal, and we have done that often. Do yourself a favor and visit Brandywine if you have the need for assisted living.

When I gave notice to vacate and told them the rent is paid, no response until I had to email about twice. Attached photo is debt collection notice after moving out 4 months. They'll communicate when they want money. The place has nickel and dime my mom. $35 for shampoo. $80 a month for laundry. What drove me to vacate was the sales lady didn't tell me that they don't have Medicaid long term care bed for mom when I asked. She said they'll discuss it later, which is when I told them my mom will be low on funds and can't stay there because I was led to believe in the spend down for Medicaid Long term care. Also, they wanted to use my mom's photo for their marketing. This place cares for you if you can afford it.
