Time after time of talking to her,she'd have a new story of how the caretakers refused to do minor cleaning or putting things away or EVEN bathing her father daily (or even every couple days!)! Just before he passed away I was told about one of the care takers dropping him from the hoyer lift as she cared for him from home. The manager was called and told "it happens" Another one of the workers was letting her dad go daaaays without washing and he got an infection. The manager was called and the family told the mngr that particular worker was not permitted back in the home to care for their father. The next day that worker was there to work. Huh?! Thre final straw was finding both parents wedding bands "missing" , as well as the mothers engagement ring, as well as a $1,000 that was stashed in the drawer..., and some heirloom necklaces stolen as well Police were called and of course it turned to a "he said she said" nothing could be done. The manager of course backed her dishonest workers. Birds of a feather flock together apparently. TIP IF U HIRE THIS SHIT SMELLING COMPANY--LOCK UP YOUR JEWELRY AND INSTALL CAMERAS AS PROOF (can buy cheap online or groupon even has on sale pretty often) or lie saying u have active cameras and install dummy cameras. Better yet. Don't hire them!!!!! The neighbors next door had hired them the year prior and after noticing jewelry and money missing they fired the company too. RUN. RUN. RUN!!!!!!!

My mother was in Gables twice for rehab and is now a full time resident there. When she first…read moreentered there she acted like she had been sold into some kind of slavery. She was afraid and reclusive. The staff worked continuously, patiently and lovingly to convince her that they were there to help her and make her life better. She started to accept invitations to participate in some of the many activities which are offered, ranging from church and Bible study to crafts and bingo. The staff has welcomed visitation, answers questions, listens to suggestions, and holds regular meetings with family to discuss progress and plan future actions. They are also very helpful in helping with suggesting various assistance agencies and handling the paperwork that goes with them. As this is being written they are dealing with the COVID 19 pandemic. The entire center is in preventative isolation with no visitors allowed. They have worked to continue modified activities, allowing for "social distance", small groups, etc. They are still very willing to discuss questions and concerns on the phone, and put the caller in contact with the family member on the phone. We are very happy with Gables, and would choose it again if the need ever arose. Perhaps my mother said it best after she really got settled in: "In an ideal world, I would be 35 again and free to roam as I wanted, but I realize that will never happen. Considering my age and physical condition, I am in the best place that I could possibly be in, and I am glad that you brought me here."

To start, the community is so inviting and really does go above and beyond to make it a wonderful place for their residents. All of the staff we have met so far have been friendly and incredibly helpful. If you have any special requests they really do accommodate them. You can tell the extra time they spend each morning getting the residents ready for the day and making sure they are well fed and entertained. She has been at other facilities where you barely see management. That is not the case here. I regularly see management out interacting with the residents and their families. They are all approachable and willing to help at the drop of a hat. We honestly can't be happier with this location and plan to keep her here as long as needed. If you're looking for a caring place for your family member look no further. This is the best place there is in the area.

My sister was living here for about a year. Yes, you walk in and everything is beautiful. But that…read moreis just a facade. If your loved one is able to get around on their own and take care of themselves, this may be the place for them. If there is any type of disability, this is NOT the place for your loved one. My sister is a Parkinson's patient. We were assured that they could meet her needs. She was in a Broda chair. I can't begin to tell you how many times she fell out of the chair or fell on the floor from her bed. She was often on the floor for up to two hours. I left a white board in her room reminding staff that she had to have her chair tilted back to prevent falls. Her room was disgusting. I asked several times for the carpet to be cleaned.....to no avail. She constant ly had UTIs. The last straw was when I got a call at 11 pm. She had fallen once again. When I got there she was on the floor complaining that her hip hurt. There were 2 young girls in the room with her waiting for the hospice nurse to arrive. They had no idea what to do because they were not nurses or aides. They said that they found her on the floor. There was not a nurse on duty who could help. The only person that I saw was a charge nurse and I don't believe that she was even a nurse. (Aren't they supposed to be nurses?) I believe that she was Just a worker on duty to handle the meds. It was after 11:00 and my sister was in the clothes that she wore all day. They did not even get her ready for bed. Obviously no one had entered her room all evening. The excuse was that she liked to eat her ice cream late at night. So they were waiting. Is that not unbelievable? Im guessing that she was trying to get to her bed when she fell. She had to have been on the floor for several hours. We complained so many times and absolutely nothing got better. I'm not sure how many times she fell but I'm positive that we weren't aware of all of them. I could go on and on about the lack of care at New Haven. The food was horrible. They said they were working on that. When we moved my sister and the last items were being taken from her room, I looked back at the filthy carpet and thought..... I wouldn't let my dog stay in this room. Please know that this review is not an exaggeration. If you do decide this is the place for your loved one, visit often. Then again, I went almost every day and things still didn't get better.
