We went to the Vista Rooftop, on the top floor of the Fenwick Inn (which despite the name is actually in Ocean City) for Easter Dinner, 2025. Besides the regular menu, they had Easter specials. I do not recall whether the dishes we ordered were off the specials sheet or not. If you have never been to the Vista, you should really give it a go, if only for a drink or two. The view is spectacular in three directions (not sure you can see to the north). A view of the ocean over the houses to the east, and to the west, Assawoman Bay. It used to be a regular on our restaurant rotation (years ago). Not sure why it dropped off. There was live music (classic soft rock) when we arrived. We arrived a bit early, at five for dinner, and were quickly seated. Our waitress was Joanne, and she was helpful and attentive without being intrusive. Very good service. We skipped the appetizers. On the specials menu, there were not "appetizers" and "entrees" listed, it was just one list, and this may have caused some confusion. My wife and I shared a side Caesar salad, which the restaurant accommodated graciously. The salad was good as non-table side salads go. It was nice that it was not swimming in sauce, which most restaurants seem to think is de rigueur. "Caesar" is not Latin for "overdressed." My wife ordered a swordfish dish. She had never had swordfish, but found that she enjoyed it. Pretty sure this was a special. The odd thing, however was that the swordfish was not served in a steak, as is common for this dish. Rather, the meat seemed to be sort of flaked, and formed in a croquet shaped pile, with a sauce on top. While not unpleasant, as I said, she enjoyed her meal, it was a bit unconventional. The other lady ordered sea scallops, and they appeared pretty much as every scallop dish not served in a heavy creamed sauce. They may have been broiled. The lady said her dish was very good. The other gentleman ordered salmon, which he pronounced as very good. I ordered lamb medallions. They were listed as medallions of lamb, with a tomato based sauce, and potatoes, the exact name of which I do not recall. Basically, they were a stack of scalloped potato slices, which were then coated and deep fried. Now, I love potatoes (no, I am not Irish), and when you mention potatoes, cheese and frying, what could go wrong? I didn't know what to expect from the name on the menu, but what was delivered was delicious, and even somewhat filling. Which turned out to be a good thing. The lamb turned out to be basic lollipop chops. Three of them, and not particularly meaty. While Joanne had asked if medium rare would be okay (it would), what came out was more medium well. So, the lamb medallions turned out to be basically three bites of lamb. With that portion size, I wondered if I had ordered an appetizer as my entree? Had there been one more lollipop, it definitely would have been an entree. But since there were three, and not very thick, it seemed more an appetizer, even though no differentiation was made on the specials menu. See the confusion? The potatoes definitely saved the dish, but I really hadn't ordered a potato dish, I had ordered lamb, which was lacking. Now, keeping in mind that three out of four in our party were totally satisfied with their plates that's not a horrible performance. Coupled with the view and Joanne's good service, I'll give them 3-1/2 stars. We'll try again sometime but with so many fine restaurants in OC, it might be a while. read more

Amazing place! The food and drinks were absolutely delicious. This place could easily be missed since it's on the roof of Fenwick Inn and the sign is somewhat small. Once you take the elevator to the top floor you will be pleasantly surprised. The decor is beautiful and serene. Dougie was our server and he was probably one of the best wait staff we've ever had. I highly recommend this restaurant. We came for lunch but will come back for dinner. One suggestion would be to add some of this triangle shaped shades and a misting machine. Was excited to give this a try. I can see returning for a night cap, but for a mostly empty bar our service was poor. The bartender generally ignored us and when finally asked if we wanted food he yelled the ask from across the bar. Live music was nice but loud as was the drunk crowd at the bar area. I'm loving this new rooftop restaurant on the northern end of OC. It has indoor and outdoor spaces. The sign is a little easy to miss but it's on the top floor of the Fenwick Inn. Its st Patty's day weekend . The bar is packed and you have 2 bartenders on?!?! We sat for 20 min before even being approached. Our food was ordered finally. An hour later we saw it. It was cold. I sat with an empty glass for that hour and the bartenders were oblivious. Not for the prices you charge! Go elsewhere people! Nit like it was when it first opened! They were gone more than several minutes so we ordered from the bar back causing our order to get messed up. Went on Valentine's Day. Wasn't expecting to have to pay for a valentines special. It was $140 for two people, serving a 4 course meal. The food was amazing. The low light in the restaurant keeps the vibe romantic. Definitely worth going back if the food isn't too pricey. I hosted a New Year's Eve Eve Party (on December 30) for 31 people at Vista Rooftop. We had a separate section in the back for drinks and a champagne toast, appetizers (served from stations), and a sit-down dinner. The appetizers were amazing (especially the Low Del Shrimp and Skirt Steak Crostini)--and everyone enjoyed their dinners and desserts (ordered from the Vista Rooftop menu). Our server, Colleen, was incredible! Even though the restaurant was packed that night, the evening for our group was perfect. Miro, the catering manager, helped me set it up--I first approached him about this in September--and provided a lot of great suggestions. I'm taking a smaller group back this week. Since this was our first time trying Vista, we went during the Happy Hour time in order to sample various dishes at a reduced price. Our visit started out very well when the hostess asked if we would like to be near or far from the music. Wow-this happens so rarely and for a young person to recognize that my old ears need a quieter table is quite remarkable. But...then I became confused when she walked us away from the bar noise and another noise started getting louder. It turns out that there are 2 bars-one on each end of the restaurant and the only way to avoid the loudness in to sit at a table in between the two. Even though this meant a cacophony of competing sounds from the different music, I was willing to put up with it to have the lower volume. The waitress was sweet and friendly and after our drink order, I let her know that we wanted the HH menu. "You can't get that here" was her reply. Really? And where might we get that? "You have to go to one of the bars." So, we moved to the bar with the slightly lower decibel level and told the bartender that we would like to sit at one of the tables there to get the HH menu. Oh, no, says he, you must actually sit AT the bar and eat your food at the counter. Now, I ask you a) have you ever heard of such a ridiculous policy ? and b) do I look like someone who can eat dinner at a high bar stool leaning over a counter?? Well, since you can't see me, just envision an old lady and you will have the answer. Needless to say, we left, never to return...pathetic... and a money losing senseless management policy... read more

We sat at the bar and one guy came to ask our drinks and then asked for ID, we showed him and he didn't accept my ID just because it wasn't a US government issued document. We started to ask why cause in other places it was accepted and he started to be VERY RUDE.... You practically had to stare them down to get waited on while they were spending time doing a great job drying glasses from the dishwasher. Ridiculous. We dined st the Vista last week as a treat for good friends. We were really happily surprised. We sat at the window with a beautiful view of the ocean and a sunset. They do not take reservations for a party of four which is not great but it is off season, so availability was not an issue. The menu was quite good with a nice selection of appetizers, salads and entrees. The mussels which my husband and guest shared were superb! Great sauce although when we asked for bread, there was a charge. Tacky. Our appetizer of a crab medley on a nacho was wonderful and plentiful. The entrees were excellent. The scallop dish is beyond wonderful. The short ribs were good and plentiful and the pasta dish with seafood was exceptional from our client's perspective. Desserts are limited - no sorbet although the bread pudding may be the best that i've ever had here in Delaware. Overall, an excellent meal and reasonably priced. A really nice and broad wine selection as well. We'd return to it to see if service has become more upscale. Tablecloths could work here! Still, i'd give it s 5 star rating. read more

Bartender snapped my 26 year old friends real ID in half at the bar and then when we complained to management they were so incredibly rude and told us to come back when he got a new ID. As owners of a second home in OCMD, we try to frequent restaurants that seem to have a nicer ambiance and a higher end menu. This was our second visit here. First was for brunch on NYE. For the most part the meal was good but one of us had to send our meal back twice, due to temperature. Finally ate the Eggs Benedict cold. Tonight we were a party of 7 (for anniversary/out of town guests) and were hopefully optimistist. Cocktails and appetizers were very good! Half of the table ordered the braised short rib. The grits were not fully cooked and the meat was cold. One of us sent it to be re-heated and it was returned microwaved. Another ate some of his. The last ate two bites and brought the rest home, because of the temperature and fear of it being undercooked. Two of the other meals were very good; the swordfish special and burger. The total with tip was $740!!! Very, very underwheling. We asked to speak to the manager and were brushed off. Feel like the chefs and management need to know, We won't be back and would rather spend that kind of money at Liquid Assets, Spain Wine Bar, One Coastal, The Shark, and so on. Also, no salt and pepper on the tables. If the chef's want to make that statement, season the food better. With the best of intentions, I hope this place makes it with improvements that come from reviews like these. read more

Went to the Vista Rooftop in Ocean City, MD for dinner tonight. After reading all the reviews (if they were actually real reviews and not paid reviews) we were looking forward to a nice dinner out. Boy was I wrong. Decided to go early and sample the Happy Hour before dinner. Had an okay dirty martini @ $11.25 and Husband had an okay Old Fashioned @ $11.00. Also sampled the Tsunami Wontons @ $18; which was 3 crispy wontons with minuscule crumbles of lobster and hint of crab with tons of overpowering pico de gallo. Sad to say that the only real sampling of crab was found on the bar, that fell off the plate, when it was taken away. After such a disappointing start to our first time at this restaurant, we were hoping our dinner would save the evening. When seated for our dinner, we ordered two of their signature manhattans @ $14 each. When the drinks were brought to the table, we immediately noticed that the color of the drinks were off. One sip and you could tell that there was barely any bourbon (Woodford Reserve) in the drink and we could not even figure out what was actually in the drink. It did not look or taste like a Manhattan. We sent the drinks back and opted for something that would not be complicated to make, a glass of Chardonnay and a Jim Beam Old Fashioned. We placed our order for dinner. Beware, the menu is limited. There is no bread or salad included in your meals. The braised short rib ($28) was good; however the seafood pasta ($30) in a tomato broth, which was more like tomato bath water, was so disappointing! The dish was Luke warm at best and consisted of three hammered shrimp, a handful of rubber band muscles in the shell and maybe a tablespoon of pieces of crab with linguine in a watered down broth, that had no flavor at all, and two small pieces of crostini. What a disgrace for a state that is known for their crab! I somehow managed to eat the seafood/crostini and left all the watered down pasta behind. I do not recommend this restaurant! read more
