I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was a perfect venue for preparing and relaxing before the big event. The space is beautiful, spacious, and well-equipped with an assortment of essentials (including things that you wouldn't normally find at a makeup studio, like extra phone chargers and anti-static spray). Brett was fun, friendly, and low-key; exactly what you need to be to handle several consecutive hours with a bridal party (no matter how chill we thought we were). The only reason I'm not ready to give this five stars is that we all noticed a significant quality difference between Brett's hair and makeup work and that of her colleague. The second girl was friendly and gave it her best shot, but clearly not as experienced or confident as Brett was. I was in the non-Brett group, and all of us did a fair bit of adjusting in the bathroom after she finished with us. Certainly not a big deal (and we were still pretty happy overall), but the contrast with Brett was noticeable and mildly disappointing.

Our daughter, 14, is naturally nervous in new situations - but John created such a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere that she "fell right into place." His studio is super cool, located in a historic warehouse, recently renovated in NE MPLS. It has a rustic, yet fashionable feeling, with neat wood floors and a huge metal door that opens up to a old loading dock. When we left our daughter asked if John would be shooting for all the events in the future. And we giggled. Probably not. But that's what she was hoping for. :-)

Last summer for a newborn/family photo session and more recently a mini session with our son at 10 months. She has a great eye and produces the most beautiful and natural photos. When we first contacted her to photograph our newborn, I had no idea that newborn photography needed to be booked out in advance (first time mom here!). She kindly made herself available last minute, on the weekend, nonetheless, when it was best for our family. Then, during our last session (the mini) she kindly extended our time free of charge as she had a cancellation in the spot after us. After the photos came in and I got knit-picky about how my cleavage looked in my favorite family photo she so very patiently and graciously edited out and made it look ten times better (I could not emphasize just how patient she was with me about this - thank you, Rebeccah!). We ended up finding someone else but asked for her info on ordering canvases so they could match. She refused to give it to us and made our new photographer send her the picture so she could order it. Now I've had my 3rd baby and had the new photographer do the pictures and ordered the canvas and it turned out awesome like the 1st one. The 2nd canvas looks terrible and I think Jessica did it on purpose because it wasn't her photography. She is extremely difficult to work with & very overpriced.

That's why we paid Jessica $500 for one year photo of our child. The photos were something that I could have taken with my camera with the normal lighting. Her studio does not have any props she is rude and not creative at all. She needs the kids to be sleeping or out doors in order to take the photos. We have emailed regarding our expectations, I even sent her a pintrest site where I tagged photos I would like to take. I felt rushed thru the whole one hour. She had another appointment to go to, so she practically rushed out the door!! Advice: There are TON of other GREAT photographers out there with awesome skill set. NOT THIS ONE!!! Less the one star if I could!! Find another!!
