Great service with my daughters braces. Met our expectations & the prices are also reasonable.

Had a consultation with my son. With two in network insurances still $2,000 out of pocket. Crazy.

We were looking for a place with laser frenectomy option after our infant previously had a tongue…read moretie procedure via scissor (at a different practice) and we didn't see the full improvement we had hoped for. I first found Adelberg Montalvan via a Google search and was impressed by the great reviews, and then Dr. Bennet was specifically recommended for frenectomies by a mom in a breastfeeding class I attend. We had the pleasure of meeting both Dr. Adam and Dr. Bennet and were very happy with both the complimentary consults we were afforded as well as the procedure itself and the follow-up. The Office - Wow, this place is a kid's dream! iPads with games in the waiting room and a custom designed undersea theme bursting with fun marine life popping out of walls and ceilings throughout the office. Photos hardly do it justice - you really have to see the toothy shark archway in person to understand. It's basically a fun, thoughtful, kid-friendly environment and play space that also happens to be a dentist's office. There are even ceiling TVs above dental chairs to keep kids occupied when getting work done. The Staff - From the receptionists we spoke to on the phone (including when we were running late that one time...), to the front desk staff, to the medical staff, everyone we have encountered has been accommodating, kind, and down to earth. You can often tell a lot about a practice by the staff they hire, and all of our interactions have been super positive. Not to mention the ease of booking appointments, convenient availability, and their understanding of the crazy (and oft unpredictable) schedules of new parents. The Dentists - I can only speak to Dr. Adam and Dr. Bennet, but like the staff, it seems clear the doctors here really have their hearts in what they do, enjoy it, have fun doing it, and are passionate about helping kids. You can tell just walking around the office, and certainly with our own baby, that they are great with kids. They are also smart, knowledgeable, patient, and appropriately cautious with care recommendations. Re the latter, we appreciated that they didn't push us to do any procedures, but made sure we had more than enough information to make an informed decision about what would be best for our baby. We also had the unusual luck of our first consult being with Dr. Adam, who usually works out of a different location, and a follow-up consult with Dr. Bennet, and they were very open about having slightly different opinions about how we may wish to proceed, ultimately leaving the final decision up to us. In the end, we opted to have both lip and remainder of tongue tie released. The procedure was quick and simple by a very skilled Dr. Bennet who also clearly demonstrated and explained follow-up exercises and home care. Only one week later, our baby is already showing vast improvements in feeding. Our one-week checkup with Dr. Bennet showed that baby is healing very well. Given that, like the procedure itself, it was left up to us whether we wanted to continue to follow-up with the Dr., or only return if there was some unexpected issue. Dr. Bennet was incredibly inviting and genial in welcoming us to return for another follow-up (at no extra cost), and we look forward to returning. This may be the longest review I've ever written, but that's because this place is worth it. Although our baby doesn't have teeth yet, when he does, this is definitely where we'll take him for any pediatric dentistry needs.

He tried his best to convince me that my teeth were Corrected and perfectly straight when they clearly needed additional straightening. Incompetent doctor , please go elsewhere.

This place is a joke and I would advise anyone who is thinking of coming here not to, look…read moreelsewhere!!! Iam a dental assistant and I'm not an idiot and this man told me things that makes no sence to the procedures that we had done. The doctor tells me that my childs tooth grew bigger in shape and that's why it's not straight anymore. Ya no your teeth dont just grow bigger. I had to pay alot of money to get invisalign put back on we had previously done reg braces but do To my childs wisdom teeth coming in and her not wearing the retainer like she should I had to get them put back on. As a previous patient I asked for a discount which I was not given. I was told my child would have these new ones on for 1 year.. he took them off in 3 months telling me her teeth were straight which they were not. I fought with him about it and that's when he said her teeth grew bigger in shape which does not happen. He got so mad that he had an assistant put the braces back on which he didnt even do correctly. When you get these invisline trays they take a mold and send it to the place who then sends u the trays he only ordered 3 months worth instead of 1 year and that's what the problem was he took my money told me it was for 1 year and didnt get one year worth of trays so he was just trying to make easy money by pocketing the rest. He told the assistant to modify her old trays and told her to wear those for a few weeks. I was beyond pissed off. I also signed a contract that said to fix the retainer It was free for a year. After the retainer was put on they broke often for 400 dollars each it should not have broken at all. I had a permanent retainer and it lasted 20 years before breaking. Now after 3 months from the past break it broke again We go in there to get it fixed only to be told that there is an office fee of 40 dollars NO WHERE ON THE CONTRACT DOES IT SAY THERE IS AN OFFICE VISIT FEE TO FIX IT, IT SAYS FREE TO FIX FOR OME YEAR PRIOR TO THE BRACES COMING OFF . Then they say o sorry no one told you but that's the policy... I asked about 100 times when I signed up for this that the braces would be on for a year that this price was for everything that the retainer was free to fix for one year I got all yeses yes its on for a year yes this fee included exams ,post ops , xrays, the retainers and the trays. They even billed extra once. Thankngod I had all my receipts I paid for the while thing over a course of a few weeks and then all of a sudden my account was charged for the monthly payment. It took a 2 weeks to get that money back and they couldn't refund it to my bank they had to write me a check. I paid for a service I signed a contract and now there blowing out hidden fees!!! I work in an office those appts. after the work is done are called post op visits and are included with your fee. If the contract says FREE for one year that means it's free for one year. This place is all about money and scheming every chance they can. And funny thing as soon as I told the doctor I was a dental assistant when he tried to tell me my childs teeth were straight he had a nasty attitude and I never saw him after that. Be careful here on everything you sign and what these people tell you cause if you dont know any better your kid is going to have messed up teeth anyway. And.... they dont let you in the room with your kid. My child came out one time so upset cause the man started shaving down her tooth so it matched the others meanwhile it was the tooth not being straight it had to be corrected with the braces thats why it didnt match the other teeth but to fast track it and to shut me up he decided to start shaving her tooth and didnt even ask me about it. How do u go and do something like that with out telling the parent. This place is a joke and now my kid has a broken retainer that I paid 400 dollars for which I'll have to take off since they wont fix it for free like the contract says. DONT GO HERE!

Absolutely Traumatizing Experience - Avoid at All Costs…read more I had the misfortune of being referred to The Smilist Dental in Massapequa for a wisdom tooth extraction, and I cannot stress enough how awful the experience was, particularly with the oral surgeon. From my first visit, I was made to feel uncomfortable. The surgeon bluntly told me I was "too old" to be having a wisdom tooth removed and insisted I would have to pay $300 for a CT scan out-of-pocket, claiming my insurance "never covers it" based on "other patients" with the same provider. When I told the receptionist I wanted to check with my insurance first before paying, I was met with pushback and attitude, as well as a request to put a card on file "just in case", which I refused. Here's what really happened: I called my insurance, and they confirmed it would be covered pending prior authorization. When I called The Smilist back to tell them this, they were clearly annoyed. The CT scan ended up being covered 100%.. Which makes me wonder how many people they've pressured into paying out-of-pocket unnecessarily. Once the prior authorization was approved, I got two separate phone calls asking me to schedule an appointment I had already scheduled. When I told them I had one booked, I got attitude again. The procedure itself was horrific. The surgeon showed up over 30 minutes late. I was the first appointment of the day, with no apology or explanation. He walked in and immediately began stabbing my gums with Novocaine - no warning, no heads-up, just jab after painful jab. He was extremely rough, and I was physically gripping the chair in pain. During the procedure, he barked orders at his assistant (who, for the record, was the only decent person I encountered and it was clearly his first day on the job.), had him forcibly hold my chin despite a jaw jam already being in place, and carelessly scraped my other teeth with his tools. When he began drilling, I could feel it. I winced in pain and tried to indicate I wasn't numb yet. Instead of pausing or checking in properly, he poked my face and said, "Do you feel this?", then yelled "Ma'am!" in my ear when I couldn't answer fast enough (gee, maybe because I had a jaw spreader in my mouth and couldn't talk). Eventually, I was given more Novocaine, but the lack of empathy and professionalism was staggering. Aftercare? Even worse. My face is extremely swollen, more than any dental procedure I've ever had, and I'm still in significant pain two days later. I can barely talk without discomfort. To top it all off, the surgeon prescribed me ibuprofen for the pain despite telling me at my first appointment that he couldn't prescribe that to me due to a previous surgery I've had. He knew I couldn't take it and prescribed it anyway. That level of carelessness is absolutely unacceptable. The only positive in this entire nightmare was the assistant, who did his best to help and stay calm despite the toxic environment. This was one of the most unprofessional, painful, and emotionally draining medical experiences I've ever had. I would never recommend this surgeon or location to anyone. Save yourself the pain and go somewhere that actually respects and listens to their patients.
