Main bouldering floor with multiple rooms
    Gabriel W.

Yes it's bougie, yes it's expensive. But coming from CO to climb in NYC, this is the best place to be by far. A massive bouldering area with a huge range of setting is accompanied by a full fitness room with free weights, cable machines, benches, and hang boards alike. Also has a great common area with tables to get work done and WiFi, one of the only roomy places to do that in Williamsburg. I haven't dove into any of the classes just yet, but with so many offerings they really offer more than just a climbing gym.

Does this place have a haunted elevator?? $35 for a day pass. Have to sign all these waivers and watch a YouTube video about how to climb and follow the rules. The views from the roof are insane. This place is supposedly 24 hours. There's even an annex section across the street. I'm super beginner, so this gym is probably wasted on me. Lots of amenities here like a sauna, an actual gym section with weights, and a juice bar.

Huge climbing gym with many walls of different levels. I am told they change up the walls every 2 weeks. I had never been climbing before. It was not easy! Takes a lot of maneuvering, flexibility, and body strength. Prior to entering, you have to watch a video and sign a risk waiver. Apparently, you can get seriously hurt. I was so proud to make it all the way up one wall but saw later on it was easily climbed by the kids at camp, lol. I like that they also offer yoga, cycling, a small weights area, and roof climbing outside. Yes, once you make it to the top, you can sit at the top and enjoy the view! An overall fun experience!

We had a birthday here for our adult friend and it was a lot of fun! Liz was a wonderful host and coordinated the surprise perfectly. We had a good time navigating the gym and trying our luck on the different walls. Definitely recommend checking it out.

Waow! I loved this gym! I got a day pass for $35, keep in mind that rental shoes and chalk will cost you a bit extra. This was a huge gym with plenty of amenities. There are lots of places to store your stuff in cubbies or lockers. There's a kids section in the back with a mini bouldering area and a slide. There's also a workout station with weights and much more you to try. At the front, I saw a huge table with ppl working or studying. This gym has 2 floors so there are plenty of bouldering walls both on the ground floor and rooftop level. It's so cool that you can see the Brooklyn skyline as you climb. Upstairs, there are classrooms for yoga and cycling. There's even a cafe at the top. This was a great gym, would def visit again!

Great bouldering-only climbing gym that has an expansive selection of bouldering routes on the first floor and outdoor climbing on the rooftop as well. They also hold classes for yoga, cycling, and general fitness, and have a long picnic style table for people to get some work done by the entryway. A few pros and cons below: Pros: - Very large area of bouldering walls offering varying difficulties and terrain. - Outdoor climbing on the roof with great views. - Communal workspace. - 24/7 access for members. - You don't need to bring a lock (combination lock lockers are available in the hallway that are free for everyone to use). - Super friendly staff. Cons: - There's no designated changing areas. Instead, there are a 3 single stall bathrooms (with no bench inside, making changing difficult) and 4 bathroom/shower single stalls with benches. In both instances the floors can be wet and there can be a long wait to get an available stall. It's manageable, but would be nice if there was a designated space just to quickly change clothes. (Side Note: I'd just quickly change in the hallway by the lockers which I'd be totally fine with, but I was told by staff that that would be frowned upon lol.) - There's no designated room/space for bike and e-scooter parking. Would be nice if they opened up a storage closet or something to put e-scooters in since they'll just get stolen when locked up on the sidewalk. Overall, I really like this climbing gym and I'm looking forward to membership here. If they fixed the 2 issues above, this climbing gym would be easily 5-stars.

My boyfriend and I love to climb so we decided to try out the Brooklyn location of VITAL since we were in the area. We came here on a Sunday afternoon and we got a day pass. The day pass was $35, which is slightly higher than the average day pass that I have seen in other climbing gyms. After we checked in, we went to the locker area and changed. All the lockers there just used passcodes and therefore we didn't need a lock, which was very convenient. They didn't have a locker room and they just had a bunch of single person bathrooms instead. The bathroom that I went to was very spacious and clean and it also had a shower inside. They also have towels for rent at the front desk. Great for those that like to shower in the gym! The gym looked very new and modern overall and it had a lot of bouldering walls. The level of the problems were color coded and you need to use the conversion chart to convert it back to the V-scale. We found that a little weird but I guess we were just not use to it. The gym also had a rooftop where you can climb outdoor. The rooftop also had a fireplace which is great during the winter time. It was definitely an interesting experience climbing outdoor though I felt like that was more for the pictures. They also offer a lot of different classes where you can just walk in if you're a day pass holder or you can also reserve a spot online if you're a member. I was a little surprised that they even offered aerial yoga there! Aerial yoga classes are usually around $35 per class, which is pretty much the same as the day pass but you also get to use the climbing gym here! I didn't really check the schedule of the classes of that day so I didn't try any but I will definitely want to try it if I ever come back!

I came here to explore this gym and I got surprised. This place is AMAZING. Its spacious, clean, big, its got lots of bouldering problems both first floor and roof, the workout area is bigger than any other gyms in NYC, its got a separate section of competition bouldering, its got a separate section of dyno problems, and much more. It is like all the climbing gyms in NYC combined into one and much more Some of the amenities that this place offers that other place dont are: outdoor firepit in the roof, outdoor restaurant, bike section, sauna, yoga section, and 24 hr availability for members Damn, this place up the game a lot. I am thinking very hard into pausing my membership and switching to this place for some time... If you have not been here, i'd recommend you to come here and check it out. You will be amazed by its facilities and installations This is trully a five stars climbing gym!

New climbing gym alert! Woohoo! Vital is great. They've got 2 floors, both with an abundance of fun activities to offer. Downstairs, Vital has several climbing walls for bouldering. By the windows, there is also an aerials area. There are several classes every day for Silks, as well as Hammock. They just came out with a new Straps class as well. Upstairs is an eclectic area. , with an outdoor rooftop bouldering area that one can top out on--and catch a lovely view of the Manhattan skyline from across the water. There's also a sauna, a yoga studio room, and a cycling room. The latter two frequently have classes running in them, all is which seem to be quite popular.

Vital is by far my favorite climbing gym in NYC. My only complaint is that the walls are ROUGH. Like I've cut my legs MULTIPLE TIMES through leggings and pants rough. There's constant blood stains on the walls that aren't cleaned. And there was a couple members of the staff that mentioned that they were supposed to sand the walls but it's clear that's not happening. However, that aside, the gym itself is wonderful. The facility is huge for NYC and it's the biggest VITAL thus far. I enjoy taking the classes and the fact it's 24/7 to members. Your rentals and food purchases can be linked to your membership card so you just tap and you don't have to worry about grabbing your card. The roof is a definite perk as well, the sunset view is great.

How crowded does it get here during off hours? I checked the website and it says there's 73 people in the gym on a Friday at 9:30am, is this right?

That sounds about right. People usually start leaving after 9ish.

Absolutely love this place! I've been attending classes here almost everyday since late August and…read moreit's been such a good experience. Everyone who works here is so kind and welcoming. Working out has always intimidated me and I was really nervous before my first class but every instructor I've interacted with has been incredibly patient and understanding. Every instructor makes an effort to ask the class if anyone has injuries, no one is bullied into doing more than they can handle, and modifications are always welcome! While the instructors are very understanding and don't try to pressure students to go over their limits, they're still extremely encouraging and do want you to try challenge yourself. I will say that Dr. Brown's Align 1:10 is one of Align's most challenging class. It's very fast-paced (the most fast-paced class I've taken at Align) and I think Dr. Brown's class can be intimidating for some who have never taken the class before but the intention is to keep your heart rate elevated so he means well! Since the fast-paced element of this class is very intentional, you'll have to switch through each exercise very quickly, which is challenging at first (I struggled through my first class). But if you keep attending his classes, it'll become second nature. The style of the class is like a bootcamp class so he will definitely push you to give it your all but if you absolutely can't do something, modifications are fine. I always modify at least 1-2 things in his class and it's never an issue, as long as you feel like it's still challenging and that your heart rate stays up. The Align 1:10 Xpress class is shorter and a bit slower, at least I think so. Both classes are great if you're up to it and trust me, you'll feel so accomplished when you get through it but it's definitely not a yoga class! The other thing that Align has really helped with is my flexibility and range of motion. I originally started coming to Align because I wanted to start weightlifting but I'm so inflexible and tight that I couldn't even squat with proper form. All the classes I've taken at Align have really helped with this issue so if you're experiencing something similar, this is the place for you! Honestly, every class I've take at Align has been so great. If you have injuries that limit your physical movement, if you just get intimidated by working out like myself or even if you're an experienced athlete, I would highly recommend coming to Align! They have a student trial period, which is great because you can take as many classes as you want for a week for only $20 I think.

Hi YTB, I wanted to…read moreshare some feedback about the 6:30p class CLASSIC 26+2 HOT 90 on Tuesday, Nov. 11 led by Caro Lokah. I could see that the studio thermostat was reading 117°F since my mat was positioned in the back corner. Would you say that's an acceptable temperature? Every website I've checked says that temperature is too high for hot yoga, but maybe I'm wrong or missing something. About halfway through the class (45 minutes in), I started feeling too hot and overheated. I was concerned for my well-being and uncomfortably hot. I quietly let Caro know I was too hot when she was nearby me. So I was preparing to leave the class early, but Caro pressured me to stay. This also made me feel more uncomfortable and embarrassed. I've attended hot yoga classes before and even at your studio, but I learned in Caro's class that 117°F is well beyond my tolerance level and a health-risk, in general. I understand that hot yoga is meant to be challenging, but this level of heat felt unsafe. I wanted to make you aware, as I'm concerned that such high temperatures and Caro's response to my situation could pose a risk to your students' health. Could you please confirm if this was intentional and Caro's response to my situation follows the guidelines of Yoga Tribe Brooklyn? Up until that class, I was really enjoying YTB.  Thank you for looking into this and responding. Tracy P.S. I tried emailing YTB, but there is no email listed on your site. I tried to DM YTB on Instagram, but it says "they don't allow new message requests from everyone." I sent a LinkedIn DM on Nov. 15, but no one replied.

Eight years ago, I wrote a review of Tangerine that started out with me relating how I'm not a yoga…read moreguy. And I wasn't. Well, to update you (and my review), I'm still not. But I'm trying to be! Why, you ask? Pretty nosy of you, but I'll bite. My reasons are threefold: 1. I no longer play soccer because of physical and temporal limitations. Since that was essentially my only form of exercise, I needed to pick something else up regularly. 2. Yoga seems to be good for mind and body. That's a win. 3. Most importantly, I came out of the pandemic with a manbun (turns out I really like not getting my hair cut). As such, I feel like people assume I do yoga already, so I might as well actually get into it. What's a little disappointing is that even after eight years of doing yoga almost once every four years (up until last month), I am still a fairly hopeless beginner. I'm still wildly inflexible, and still not that bright. But whereas I used to like Tangerine, now I love Tangerine. Regular visits (I'm trying for twice a week lately) have reinforced what a nice community it is. The staff is great (friendly, welcoming, sweet). The space is great (clean, comfortable, well-laid out). The cute puppy that is occasionally here is the best. And the instructors are wonderful. I've only had a few of them because my schedule/children limit the times I can come in, but the ones I've had are all funny, cool, and badass. Ariel, Liz, Abby, whoever else I'm forgetting. They make me feel comfortable, they make me laugh, they pick good music, they help me get better, and they never judge me (out loud) for not knowing what I'm doing. On occasion, they will even use their hands (only if you're comfortable with it) to show me how to improve, which is extremely helpful. I can understand how touching me under even the best circumstances is completely repugnant (something my wife doesn't even like to do), and they do it while I'm a disgusting, sweaty mess. That's dedication. Most of the classes are for "All Levels" which means they have to cater to both horrible beginners (me) and insanely advanced folks (that guy that "warms up" by doing impossible head/handstands, and weird contortions that would tear my back permanently for all time).* And they do it well, for the most part. I realize this is probably just me, but the biggest problem I've encountered is that sometimes the instruction moves too quickly for me. I literally don't speak the language yet (Sanskrit I think?), and I'm still trying to process what I'm being told to do when everyone else is four moves ahead. I'm getting the hang of it, but it's slow going, what with my tiny brain and all. All that said, I'm down with this. Maybe it's because I now have children that I need to get away from, but if you know me, the fact that I'm legitimately enjoying a "workout class" and coming in regularly is completely out of character and downright shocking, really. It's truly a testament to Tangerine's hospitality. I love how nice everyone is. I love how I feel better about everything after I go. I love that they provide a mat and a towel that I will inevitably soak all the way through for the class, and sometimes a cold towel for afterward that feels as good anything that exists in life. I love that I'm enjoying something that will probably improve the quality and extend the quantity of my life.** Thanks, Tangerine. ____________ *I tend to warmup by lying on the ground, because it's hot in there, and moving is a lot. **Previously all the things I enjoy only occasionally improve the quality, and are often serious detriments to the quantity.

I was so happy to take advantage of the 2-week intro offer for $45--such a great deal, and honestly…read morethe only studio I've seen with something this generous. I came almost every day and really loved it! The space is bright, clean, and thoughtfully laid out, with high-quality mats and props that make a difference. The teachers are fantastic--warm, welcoming, and really know their stuff. Some of the classes I took were truly among my favorite yoga experiences ever. What stood out most was the staff. Everyone was kind and greeted me when I arrived, which feels like such a rare and lovely touch in NYC. Why not a full five stars? The only downside was the mat setup--you're expected to use the one from the previous class, which is often still sweaty, and it's hard to reach the fresh ones underneath. Also, the floors could use a bit more cleaning between classes. I had a wonderful time and would absolutely recommend this studio. I'll be getting a membership. Oh idea for you: Put a second bar behind the mats for the used ones. Also reach out to the people who do the first time special and ask them how it went and if they want to join.

So far the studio is clean, they have mats for attendees so you don't have to bring your own if you don't want to. There are towels and cleaner. The facilities are clean and there's a cafe type sitting area when you enter. There's beautiful natural lighting and a calming ambiance. The studio is not cliquey nor is there any type of aesthetic to the attendees (ie you won't feel like you need to look or dress a certain way or bring certain accessories w you to fit in). Strong gender balance in all classes I have taken.
