Absolute worst company to deal with: pay money for nothing. Just try cancelling the service.. 4 people and an hour later and they still want to charge you. Unfortunately I switched from Vivint to ADT two years ago. I was sold on their brand promise that they would provide better service and I will say that their technicians are really easy to work with. They went above and beyond each time they came to my house. However, they had to come often because our panel needed resetting and our camera doorbell's connection was off quite often. So, you will need technicians at your house at least every 3 months I found. Also he camera is lagging and rarely would pull up on my phone when I was away from the house. But the worst part was trying to transfer the service when we moved. We moved and didn't need a alarm system in our new home and when we tried to transfer Vivint to the new owners they wouldn't honor the transfer. They set the new owners up with a NEW account and told me they couldn't do anything about it. Even though the new owners set up an account with Vivint because of me, they still told me I would have to pay the 3 years cancellation fee left on my 5 year contract. This was after I already paid off my equipment. It gets worse. When the new owner tried to call in to transfer, the representative told her they don't do that kind of thing and that she would have to set up a new account. They told her that again when she tried to call back in after I explained the issue. So, Vivint lied to the new owner so they could keep my account and get a new one. Unfortunately, they have lost their customer service centered value and are prioritizing profits over customers. The sad part is I was a somewhat happy customer and advocated for them with the new owner. All they had to do was transfer my $42/mo to her. But instead I was on the phone for 4 hours on 12/23/25 (yes, the day before Christmas eve) trying to figure out why they couldn't just transfer or combine the accounts. They escalated me to their supervisor and he also wouldn't help. In fact, he told me the only way is if the new owner called the specific transfer number. When she did, they again told her they don't do that sort of service. DO NOT GO WITH VIVINT. They are not customer focused and in fact lie and conduct shady business. read more

First off, salesman lied to us about the duration of the contract. Said it was 2 years and ended up 5. If you look at other complaints, I'm not the first person to say this. Seems it is common practice for Vivint. My fault for not reading their fine print. Then, half of my equipment failed within the first two years. Both exterior cameras failed and smoke detector. Lastly, when I could finally cancel the service, the gentleman I was talking to on the phone stated I had no contract and now that I want to cancel, I'm on a month-to-month contract and have to pay pro-rated amount because it takes them 30days to cancel your contract. Don't ever go with this company!!! I'm filing a complaint with the better business bureau because it's gotten out of hand. FOR WEEKS the playback for the doorbell camera has been out. AND the app contains to crash EACH time I try to playback an event from the camera. I called VIVINT and I hate to call because the hold times are ridiculous and most of the agents youre dealing with a language barrier. This makes your call even longer than what it needs to be. On 4/21/25 I was told that a service tech could come out but that I'd be charged. I told the rep that I wasn't paying for it because I was canceling my account (I've had NUMEROUS issues such as the 2-way voice function NOT working or the doorbell sound NOT working when someone rings the bell). I was sent to the Customer Loyalty team and CHRIS told me that a rep could come out and that the service fee for that would be waived AND that I wouldn't be charged the regular monthly fee from 5/2025-9/2025. So the service visit occurred on 4/23/25 and the issue with the playback of events was NEVER remedied. The service guy told me while he was at my home to delete the VIVINT app and then redownload it. I did as he requested and he didn't recognize the app! Why not? VIVINT changed the face of the app (it's now green) and he didn't know that a change occurred. He was on his tablet typing away as he was in a work chat and learned that day that the app changed. He witnessed AND experienced both the previous app AND the new app CRASHING! Then the service person told me that in his chat he was told that things wouldn't be working as it should for another week on the app. Guess what? The app still crashes AND the playback function still doesn't work! Now I get calls (starting on 4/29) from VIVINT saying that I owe for the service call! What! I was told before anyone came out that the fee was waived. Phone reps for VIVINT are rude, lack professional decorum, and English isn't the primary language for many of them. Each department doesn't talk to each other and it's obvious. Why does one department know about the fee being waived and another department doesn't. Now these incompetent people won't cancel my account even though I've filled out the email the sent me, stating why I want to cancel, etc. DON'T GO WITH THIS COMPANY, ITS 100% A RIP OFF! read more

It has now been 28 months and I continue to have problems with my Vivint Doorbell Camera. Here is a recap of my latest episode. This past weekend, my neighbor comes to the door and rings the Doorbell Camera. We are out to dinner, but we see that it is her so we answer it. She can hear us, but we can't hear her. The next day she asks us why we didn't answer the door. She needed us to call for an ambulance since she needed medical care. She thought they we were blowing her off, but we could not hear her. The next day I tested 2 other phones and an ipad the to see if we did something wrong, but all the devices were not able to hear the words being spoken outside in front of the Doorbell Camera. The one time that we really needed the system to work and it failed us AGAIN! I called Vivint during the weekend, but after waiting on the phone for 30 minutes they told me that I would need to call back on Monday. I called back on Monday to explain the situation and they said they would have a supervisor call me in a couple of hours. Well I waited 32 hours and didn't hear anything back, so I called in again. The only solution that they gave me was that they could send out a tech, I could convince someone to take over my contract or I could spend $800 to get out of my contract early. They were willing to give me a whopping 10% discount. They said that they normally charge $49 for a service call, but they would wave it for me this time. Cancelled Giving end of June and they still took 2months of payments. Called and they said I would get 1 month back. Never received and called again. Told me I would get the 2 months back in 4 to 5 day. $49.99 a month times 2, they only returned $38.70. So glad I switched companies. These people do nothing but lie!!!!!! read more

I previously posted a negative review about Vivint's slow service calls. Now that the service has been completed I have nothing but the highest praise for Vivint technician Colin Schaeffer. Colin spent 5.5 hours on a Saturday afternoon resolving tech issues. He was cordial,knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. Great employee. Tremendous asset for the company. read more

Vivint - Badlands national park - Security Systems Near Me

I switched my older ADT system to upgrade to the new technology of a Vivint system about one year ago. I have had nothing by problems and broken promises since then. Garage door sensors that don't communicate with the system; Thermostats that work for cooling, but call for heat - NOT GOING TO HAPPEN when the snow flies; Master control panels that need to be rebooted multiple times so they work properly and no notification that there is a problem. Updates that are suppose to get pushed through to your master panel, but don't - mine was three updates behind before a service tech happened to find out. If you want to get something done expect to spend hours on the phone and talk to at least three to four people in the process. Finally, my system had failed. It would not communicate with my smart phone; no heating or cooling control, no master panel; basically NO SECURITY SYSTEM AT ALL and the technical guy in Provo, UT(after having me run up and down stairs to my thermostats and control panel resetting everything) told me I had to wait 1 1/2 weeks for a service tech even though one had left my residence less than one hour ago and lives in the area. I AM DONE. If you have any thoughts of purchasing a Vivint Security System for you residence or business - please safe yourself the grief and aggravation and look elsewhere. read more

My story: I called about a month before I was scheduled to move. Everyone I talked to at vivint assured me my service would transfer smoothly and regardless of the difference in the size of the house I would have the same level of security. Fast forward to the day of install (2 weeks after the official move date - so 2 weeks without any service) and the installer comes and puts one sensor on each of my 4 doors and leaves. I'm paying for 14 points of security and I got 4. So I call and get someone to admit this guy completely "botched" (her words) this job and they would have someone call to set up another install date. No one ever called. Instead I got an email that said I was scheduled for a day when I was planned to be out of state and therefore completely unavailable. So I call again and get an appointment set up for the morning of my planned departure out of state. I was given a window of 8-11 am for the installers arrival. Common sense told me he'd show up at 10:59 which would've been inconvenient but manageable. Surprise! I was wrong. Instead the guy calls at 10:52am and tells me he is still doing an install in a town about 45 minutes away and he could come in the afternoon. I'm not sure how many days I'm expected to take off work for these incompetent people. I'm fairly certain that when I signed this "contract" I agreed to pay for a security system and monitoring services of which I do not have and have no tentative date for which I finally will. In my mind they are voiding out their side of the agreement. A contract is 2 parties agreeing to specific terms and I guarantee every month when they charge my credit card I'm holding up my side of the deal. I am so unhappy and would never recommend this company. On top of all that when you are upset on the phone the representative audibly laugh at you which adds a layer of disrespect on top of their ineptitude. read more
