We were so lucky to find this place! We thought we were going to have to replace two bathroom light fixtures because the glass was broken on one and there was a short on the other. Matt was able to fix the short and found replacement glass for the other even though it was twenty years old. So the total was under $100 when we thought we'd be several hundred into replacement fixtures. I purchased 3 trim kits for recessed lights. When the trim kits didn't fit the smart bulbs I wanted to use, I tried to return them. The owner of the store told me I couldn't return them and then said it was because I didn't ask about their return policy. If it was a special order product that was non-returnable, I should have been told that before I purchased. Do not buy something from this shop if you have any expectation of being able to return it if necessary. read more

A lighting shop selling more of the classic examples of home lighting. Chandeliers, wall sconces, flush mounts, some lamps and fans too. Their best categories being, chandeliers (glass & crystal), wall sconces and flush mounts. In these categories you can find something different that is not found in the big box stores. In the front area of the store they also offer a couple curio style cabinets. Occasionally, they may offer a floor display at a discounted rate. I had an old lamp that was in disrepair. The wiring had gone loose and socket out of alignment. I was holding onto it for sentimental value, until one day a family member finally pushed me to fix or junk it. They mentioned seeing a lighting store in Skokie. For some years I have been trying (not often enough) to find a lighting store that is open and will repair my lamp. There are a couple of these stores on the north and nw sides of Chicago. However, all of them have select hours that they are open. In the past, another store in Edgewater suggested junking it for something newer. At the time they said it was too expensive to repair. Glad I held onto it. It was an inexpensive repair. So, Vogue. Found reviews online and placed a call. They said they do repairs of all sorts of indoor lighting and offer reasonable pricing for repairs. At dropoff I was quoted, $20 bucks. Far more reasonable than the other shop. The work was completed within a few days and when I returned for pickup, the associate mentioned that other customers had inquired about purchasing it. Walked in with my wife one afternoon since we live in the neighborhood and are remodeling our home we figured to shop locally. After looking around the store and a couple of catalogs we decided to leave as we couldn't find anything that we liked. Upon leaving as we had our backs turned the gentleman behind the counter whispered something underneath his breathe saying "Good luck" as in either we had no money to shop there or we had no taste. I recently stopped in to look at exterior rated fans for a custom pavilion roof we are building in the city. Matt the owner provided suggestions for the best brands to use. He provided a catalog and I picked out the size, color and style that I knew my customer was looking for. I ordered the two units they came in and Matt called me within a week to pickup, no long waits. I sent my electrician in to pick them up. Matt was helpful and pleasure to work with. Went for a lampshade to find only a very limited selection. Guy working there had no aesthetic sense as to what shapes or sizes was appropriate for my table lamp. Also was very unknowledgeable...told me a bell shade couldn't even be ordered unless it was made of silk. I ended up going to Lamp & Fixture Co on N. Elston in Chicago to get real professional advise that helped me find exactly what would look best. read more

I'm having an awful service experience with Vogue Lighting. After 6 weeks, I'm still waiting for a shade that was done wrong the 1st time even though I had brought the old one. The one "remodel" that I did with my place requires me to purchase new lighting. My mom suggested that I try Vogue up in skokie. They have a plethora of lighting and very fair prices. They know their lights and are willing to work within your budget. I will be back here again in a heartbeat once I get a new place that requires more TLC. read more

I'm so disappointed in this local business. I picked up a brass floor lamp at an estate sale, and took it directly into Vogue Lighting to have it all spruced up for my home. There were at least three issues that I described wanting to have fixed. When I went to pick up the lamp, only one had been taken care of -and barely. My 14 year old could have done better, and certainly with more pride. They didn't even bother to dust out or clean the bulb cover. I expressed my disappointment and the gentleman shrugged his shoulders and walked away. For this, I was charged $40.00. He didn't even offer to help me to the car, much less open the door as I carried the big lamp out on my own. I moved here from the city where I had all my "go to" places, places that exhibit pride in workmanship and character. I very much want to support local businesses, but, frankly I am beginning to understand why there are so many empty storefronts, in Skokie. I won't even get into the mess another Skokie business made out of a coat I had tailored. UGH! I will be trecking back to the city for the sort of workmanship I am used to. Too. Bad. read more

I had a great experience here. I saw some beautiful sconces but they were a little pricey, so I tried Home Depot. I didn't like anything there, they were all so basic and not stylish, so I came back to Vogue Lighting. I told the owners that I really loved one style of sconces and asked if there was anything they could do about the price, since they were a bit out of my budget. A few months ago, I had wonderful customer service as I was looking for a very small ceiling fan. That was ordered along with two other fixtures. They came in quickly and I was extremely satisfied. This week the bulbs burned out and I couldn't figure out how open the fixtures, or what type of bulbs were required. I called and they were able to find the find the information by my phone number (I did not keep the receipt) and got the information to me very quickly! read more

I purchased a lighting fixture from them a while back and came in to find out what kind of bulb was needed for it. They were really helpful. The place feels a little dated and surprisingly a little dark. They are really nice but the prices here are a little on the higher end of the spectrum but they have a nice variety. We just bought a home built in 1925. We wanted to replace a lighting fixture to be more time period appropriate for the home. The big chain stores didn't have exactly the crystal type ceiling fixture we were picturing...so after googling the closet lighting store we went to Vogue. I do admit that no one greets you when you walk in...it did feel awkward. However, after a few minutes Ron came over and helped us out. Some fixtures are pretty pricey...but, many are quite reasonable. When we narrowed down to one light, he went to see if they had it in stock. They did not...but, he offered us a discount on the display! Deal! We were very happy with our fixture. When we got home we looked the light up online and we totally scored on the price. We feel good about our purchase and would definitely go back. read more

Just to add to Karen's review of the absolutely terrible service here. The owner, Matt, runs a shady business and has no trust in his employees. Here's my story: We came to Vogue as we have seen it before, and they had a lot on display that we liked. Made the purchase (over $1000 of lighting), price was OK. We selected some items that they had in stock and some that was not in stock and they had to order. They were going to deliver the stuff that was not in stock. That's where the good story ends. The delivery guy was not available (some lame excuse, most likely), so in order to not delay the construction workers, we had to drive to pick up the items ourselves - even though this was inconvenient at the time. While installing the lights, two of the fixtures did not fit (we didn't even unpack the mounting hardware, realize this once the box was opened). Attempting to bring back the items for a refund was unsuccessful as the owner started yelling that there are parts missing. Upon examination of all parts, they were clearly all there and unopened, so he started saying that we are missing packaging material, supposedly a piece of cardboard inside the box (that was not there). Needless to say reputable stores wouldn't do anything remotely similar to a customer. Additionally, even if all the materials were in place, they started pointing to a sign they have behind their sales counter (which we did not see) that anything not in stock has a 25% (!!!) restocking fee. We were making the purchase at a table in the other room and specifically asked if we can return something we didn't like, and were told "absolutely, just bring it back". No mention of a restocking fee! I came back another day (this time without my Mother-in-law as she couldn't handle the stress anymore) to attempt this again. Matt was not there but the other employees said that they can't process returns, only the owner can. Can you believe this?? I left the two (out of more than a dozen) lamps on their counter and was told that Matt will call me back. He did. Obviously there was no resolution there. He's not a customer-oriented businessman. When I mentioned that I will have to get the credit card issuer involved, his response was: "I will fight it, I will win, and you will get nothing." If you shop here after reading this review, well, not even sure what to say to you. read more

If there were negative stars, that would be mine. I ordered about 1700 dollars of stuff. They suggested their installer and they did a good installation except that it took a tall person to notice that one of the glass "things" on the dining room fixture was cracked. They ordered me a replacement one and told me to pay for it or bring in the broken one. I am not handy and it would require that I hire a handyman to do this work. I got them, bless their little hearts, to give me the replacement one and guess what...it was the wrong size. So the person looking up my order did not take the time to see the size needed from my purchase. Then within a year the bulb over the kitchen fixture burned out. I came to the store to pick up the other issue I just spoke of and i got a new bulb. It did not work. They know who I am and they will recognize the content and they are getting a written letter from me on this. Most of the reviews here are negative for this establishment. A shady business per Yosef? I couldn't be more disappointed in the service I received today. I was looking for a ceiling light frame, my first option was Home Depot but they recommend to try Vogue Lighting, which I didn't mind the drive since it was on my way home. I walk in to the store and this older man was on the phone speaking to a customer (by the way that conversation wasn't so pleasant he was telling her how it's not his problem she doesn't know how to build the light fixture and if she needs to return it it will be anywhere between 20% or 30% restocking fee). Anyways being polite I respected the conversation and didn't interrupt him, he continued to talk for another 5 minutes without acknowledging me or greeting me. It doesn't sound like a long time but an acknowledgement would've been nice, so I then said "excuse me how long will it be?" He said "hold on a second" I said no problem when he got off the phone I showed him the fixture that I'm looking for. He said "I CAN'T, I JUST CAN'T" I'm like what do you mean you can't? Like you don't have it or what? He said I can't I'm not doing this whoever recommended you here doesn't know what they're talking about. His tone was very disrespectful, and didn't make me feel welcomed I hate places like this. No wonder it's always empty lol read more

Linden True Value in Wilmette was nice enough to suggest Vogue when I came in looking for 24V MR-16 halogen bulbs. I went there and the man at the front desk seemed too busy chatting with another man to be bothered. No smile, no welcome, no asking if he could help me. When I showed him my package from my burned out bulb and asked if they had them, he said no, they don't have that, it's a special order. No smile, no offer to place an order, no suggestion where else to go, nothing else. So I turned around, walked out and bought six bulbs online. I won't be going back to Vogue. read more

My husband and I purchased two sconces for our bathroom at Vogue Lighting. We worked with Matt and he was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They have a great selection and he helped us find the perfect fixtures in our price range. We were even able to purchase a single floor model, take it home to make sure it would work, and then order two new ones of the same style, returning the floor model.
