    Crispy Deviled Eggs

OK, I am again, this place is awesome. The food and the drinks keep bringing me back. Zac my waiter was amazing. He's also the bartender. He made me an off the menu mixed drink called 1000 corpses... Yum I enjoyed how the flavor started out kind of sweet and then changed. It was delicious the whole way through. I also have the flatbread, pepperoni, hot honey pizza, and it was delightfully, sweet, crunchy and gooey cheesy... And I got the appetizer with the fried shrimp... I think they call it firecracker shrimp. It was very tasty and I love the flavor all the way through. And of course, the music was jamming with oldies... But I like that kind and it's a very relaxing place. I enjoy it.

Came here for lunch. I love the speakeasy vibe and all the available photo ops upon entering. I was sat right away and the service was very attentive from the start. I ordered the Crispy Deviled Eggs and those were delicious, they are topped with bacon jam which adds to the delicious taste. I got two drinks from the bar the first was a Bootlegger's Blossom and the second was a Lemon Drop Martini and they were both delicious. For my meal I had the Volstead Cheeseburger, which they said it was the best burger in Southlake, and that was not a lie. The burger was flavorful and perfectly cooked, the meal came with fries which were also tasty. Kevin was our bartender/waiter and he was awesome and very attentive. Overall it was a great experience and will definitely come back.

    "spicy tuna" crispy rice

Volstead has been open a while in Southlake. They are the same outfit that owns Jane, also in Southlake, The Tavern, and Tycoon. Both the Tavern and Tycoon are in Flower Mound, and I have not visited, but I have made stops at both Jane and now Volstead. And I have to say, I wanted to be impressed, and I just wasn't. When I went to Jane, the cocktails were not up to snuff. My visit to Volstead, the cocktail was fantastic but the ambiance and food disappointed. I came into Volstead to check out the happy hour. They have a discount on wine, and half off their signature cocktails and martinis. They make craft cocktails, which were impressive, but only have one bartender. It takes time, but they could use another. I ordered a Volstead Vesper. It is a bold martini. Josh made it well. It was well balanced. Boozy yet balanced. And I love a lemon curl. A garnish can really elevate a cocktail. Five stars for the drink. I will come back and order another one. I also ordered their spicy tuna crispy rice. It was rather a disappointment. The serving size was generous, the crunch on the rice was there, and then it fell short. The texture of the rice was on the mushier side. The tuna was NOT spicy. It had been dressed in something, but it brought absolutely NO flavor or anything to the tuna. There was a wasabi cream and a sauce (maybe eel sauce) that dressed the plate, but the tuna was bland. A little soy, citrus, yuzu, sriracha or SOMETHING to elevate and brighten the tuna would have been EVERYTHING. So it just ended up being bland tuna, on undressed avocado, on fried mushy rice with some tasty sauces. It absolutely was not spicy. And with a little something something it could have been rather tasty. Even with mushy rice. When I walked in and sat down, there was no music playing so you were just hearing conversations bouncing off the walls. After about a half hour someone decided they needed some tunes, but then it was too loud and it was hard to hear the bar tenders. I loved the decor, and again, my cocktail was really rather good. The overall feel just felt kind of sloppy. It could have been awesome, and fell short. They claim to have Southlakes best burger, and maybe that is a better choice than the tuna. I may give it a shot. It got rather popular as I was leaving, the crowd a bit more mature. And maybe that is their bag. They have great reviews and high stars, I just didn't feel it.

The name of this place has intrigued me for some time. You see I am a bit of a history buff and the Volstead Act outlawed alcohol sales in 1919. Clubs still existed though, in the form of speakeasy's. Volstead is fashioned after a speakeasy from the era, and you feel it walking in. The place has an old time feel to it. My service was great. Friendly, cheerful, and a Ray of sunshine in the mysterious and dim lights, reminiscent of a speakeasy. I ordered a Cheeseburger and it came with Skinny Fries. I got to give them props, the food was delicious and something I would return for!

Came here for happy hour after several coworkers recommended it, and it definitely lived up to the hype. I ordered the Watermelon Skinny, which was light, refreshing, and easy to sip on. For food, we shared the happy hour spicy tuna crispy rice and the oysters Rockefeller (not on the happy hour menu), and both were excellent. The crispy rice had a nice crunch with flavorful tuna on top, and the oysters were rich and well-prepared. I also tried some of the popcorn chicken and truffle fries my coworkers ordered--both were delicious and hard to stop picking at. It's a great spot to hang out, catch up, and unwind. The atmosphere was lively but still comfortable for conversation, and the service was attentive and friendly. Definitely a place I'd return to for happy hour.

After being blown away by the first trip here, I brought a big group for a birthday dinner. It was super-fun! Noise is a factor, though. The decibels increase throughout the night, too. Their menu is curated and the mixology is custom. Pricing is in line with the whole experience. Most notable is the service - really great staff!

We live really close by and had been to the restaurant that was previously there so thought we would give it a try. Parking is easy and they did a really excellent and cool job changing the decor from fish shack style to a modern vibe. I absolutely love the blowing bubble gum wall paper. What I really love about this place is there is an option for everyone and the serving sizes are huge! My husband and I shared the fish and chips because we knew we were getting appetizers and a dessert. The serving size of the split order could almost be a full serving at other restaurants. The quality is great as well and everything we had was very good. Our server, the bartenders and the manager were very friendly and checked in JUST the right amount. Never feeling ignored but also not feeling like we had to stop our conversation multiple times to handle a check in. The crab cakes are amazing and the only thing they could do better is put a bigger version on a croissant and add it to the menu.

This was the end to my Mother's Day. We stopped at this speak easy. It is a fun atmosphere. The bartenders were fun and made sure we were having a good time. They explained how the location used to be Fish City and the owner decided to turn it into a speak easy. The drinks were good and the deviled eggs were a great choice. We didn't eat because we ate somewhere else and were just checking out the place. We will be going back to have dinner. The crowd ranged from age 30-70 while we were there. This was a Saturday around 6:45 PM. I feel it's a great place to visit when everyone feels comfortable talking to everyone around them. We did sit at the bar. We felt like me met new friends. I recommend you try this location.

very unassuming from the main street, and pleasantly surprised with the interior decor and inside. We didn't make reservations and got seated right away. However, we did go around 8pm... so not sure if that was after the dinner crowd. When we went, there were still people eating and drinking inside. We ended up getting the items below. Prohibition Sampler $14 oysters rockefeller, beef wellington bites, maryland crab cakes Steak Frites $39 sliced tenderloin filet, creamy peppercorn sauce, sautéed onions, parmesan-truffle fries Honey Truffle Chicken $28 lightly crusted, whipped garlic mash, creamed spinach Espresso Express $16 Hanson Espresso Vodka, Doughball Cookie Dough, Coffee Simple, Espresso, Licor 43, Sweet Cream The sampler was a nice choice as it allowed us to try different items, Each item came with two small bites. As for the two entrees, i enjoyed the honey truffle chicken moreso than the steak frites. Chicken was juicy and the outside was crispy. However, i have to admit the fries that came with the steak were extremely addicting. They have a regular happy hour and a reverse happy hour, which is 1 hour before they close.

    Signature Martini - Volstead Vesper

My son and I were craving burgers! We stopped in during Happy Hour and were pleasantly surprised! Two cheese burgers, a side of fries (I asked for the thicker cut curled version) a Sprite and a signature martini! Both Bella and Natasha were so sweet and took care of us! We will definitely be back!

I just love the drinks here and the vibes of this place! Everyone working here was very upbeat. The strawberry mule was incredible! The layout is gorgeous. Unfortunately, food-wise I'll need to try more items. The popcorn chicken was okay, but needs more sauces than ketchup. The fries are okay. The pressed tuna sushi's rice was really hard and had a slight refrigerated taste. I still gave it four stars because I'd love to get drinks here again.

Volstead is a wonderful place! Ambience is refreshing - cool, quirky and intimate - perfect for drinks or a delicious meal. The service we received from Jake on a recent visit was top notch! He accommodated all our requests and the kitchen went above and beyond assisting us in gluten free food.

Visiting the area and met friends for dinner. The ambience and decor and great and speak to the prohibition era theme. They have a good list of signature cocktails and some interesting food options. We tried the shrimp appetizer and deviled eggs. I probably wouldn't get the deviled eggs again. For my entree I had the French dip sandwich and it was good, a large portion that is shareable. Would go back here while in town for their happy hour and to try their martinis.

The portions are also huge Our server was wonderful from start to finish. He was friendly, attentive, and checked on us often without being overbearing. The service was honestly the best part of the experience. We started with the Sichuan calamari, and this was easily the highlight of the meal. It was perfectly crispy, the glaze had just the right amount of sweetness and heat, and the seasoning gave it a nice kick without overpowering the calamari. It was one of the best calamari dishes I've had and definitely raised my expectations for everything that followed. Next was the tenderloin bruschetta, and unfortunately this one just didn't work for me. The flavors didn't come together, and it was much saltier than it needed to be. It felt like there were too many things happening on the plate without much balance. I wouldn't order it again. For the entrées, the Chilean Sea Bass was very good. The fish was flaky and cooked well, the risotto was creamy, and the sauce brought everything together without being too heavy. It was one of the stronger dishes we ordered. The lobster stuffed ravioli was another solid choice. The filling was generous, there was plenty of lobster on top, and the vodka sauce complemented everything nicely without taking over. It was rich but still well balanced. We also tried the New Zealand rack of lamb. This one had mixed reviews at our table. It wasn't as tender as I was hoping, but I didn't dislike it and again I didn't love it! The blackened exterior and the wine reduction gave it good flavor, but it just wasn't particularly memorable. My favorite entrée ended up being the tomahawk pork chop. The pork itself was juicy, flavorful, and cooked really well. I wasn't a huge fan of the pineapple bourbon glaze since I didn't think it added much to the dish, but the quality of the meat made up for it. We also had the strawberry spinach salad, which was fresh and a nice lighter option alongside all the richer dishes. Then there was also a side dish with green beans and almond and again no complains there. Overall, I left feeling a little conflicted. The service was outstanding, the atmosphere was great, and the portions were very generous. The food itself was a mix of really good dishes and others that completely missed the mark. After such an incredible start with the calamari, I expected the rest of the meal to be on the same level, but it just never got there. I'm glad we tried it, but I don't think it's a place I'd rush back to.
