The staff there are simply amazing. They are friendly and personable and will do everything they can to help you get into school quickly, stay there, and succeed. The Assistant Director there is Jamica Hines. She will answer any question you have and will do everything in her power to help you enroll, register and succeed. William, the security officer there, nearly knows everyone on a first name basis. He knows who should be there and who shouldn't, which makes everyone I talk to feel better about the safety of the campus. The cleaning crew they have are also very friendly. It's truly like a family at this campus. It is smaller, which may help with how easy it is to get to know the staff and students. It makes for a better overall experience in my opinion.

I am actually a student at Nashville School of law so I thought it would be fitting for me to right…read morea review. Of course, I am going to 5 star it, because it is a great instiution and I get my law education there,but there are some things that people should know if they are thinking about attending. THE PRO'S: 1. You can work and go to law school. This is huge. The first two years are like your general education of undergrad. You have two classes on Monday (Contracts, Legal Writing) and two classes on Thursday (Torts and Criminal Law. Second year you have two classes on Monday (Civil Procedure, Evidence) and two on Thursday (Property, Remdies). All schedules are 6:30pm - 10pm, which do fit in with the traditional work week. 2. NSL has great teachers, and most of them teach at Vandy. All are practicing or judges so the contacts you actually make are almost priceless. 3. They teach you TN law. Rather than learning legal theories, you learn Tennessee law as well as Federal. This really helps when it pertains to the bar and when you actually get out and become a real attorney. Legal theories are great, but I personally would want to focus on how to argue the way it really is done...a speech on a legal theory while in court may not go over so well with the judge... 4. Moot court. This really prepares you for a court room and is a requirement for third and fourth year students. You are given real cases and have to prepare for court. This is so helpful, although it isn't counted as graduation credits: you just have to go or you can't pass. But you learn how the whole legal process actually transpires - as in, when you need to file, how long you have, etc. 5. The tuition is $5,000 a year!!!! THAT IS CHEAPER THAN UNDERGRAD!!! For $20,000 you have a law school education! *Note this was written in 2010 so prices are subject to change as inflation does tend to happen. 6. Buying books happens once a year and costs you, if you are frugal and get them on the Internet, around 600 bucks. Even if you go to the bookstore, several books were cheaper there than online. Students are also very willing to sell books. 7. Cool people. Your classes typically will have a lot of adults in their 30's 40's. BUT this has been changing in the coming year...the social life isn't exactly like that of a state or private school, but then again you are actually able to afford being able to go... CONS: 1. It is un-accreditted. This means you can only practice in Tennessee without hassle. You can apply to go to other states whose law allows you to re-take the bar, but there are some states that do not even allow that. If you were going to plan and move, this is not the school for you. Every state requires you take their bar before you practice, and personally going through it once in one state will probably destroy me, BUT if you were forced to move or relocate and went to an accreddited school, atleast you would know you were elligable to study and take the bar of that state and be a practicing attorney. Positive: you can practice federal law and also can waive to practice in Washington, D.C. 2. It can get tiring. Working a full day and coming to lectures and the homework and reading can get tiring, but overall, it is managable and worth it. Some classmates drive all the way from Chattanooga and Knoxville! 3. The grading scale is rough. 95-100 is an A and most of the teachers count one multiple choice as 3-5 points. The chances of getting an A are pretty slim and sometimes a an okay grade isn't really okay...take a 74 for example-that would be a D. 95-100 = A 85-94 = B 75-84 = C 65-74 = D Under 64 = you suck and fail. To stay enrolled, your GPA must be at 2.25 which is basically a Cish/Bish. Kind of hard, but not by any means, un-doeable. I nor my friends have had a problem...maybe I should knock on wood... 4. No Internet Printing. NSL has six computers for students, but you are not allowed to access the Internet at the library. When I first started you could, but apparently an older lawyer was coming and using the computers to view porn and they put a restriction on it. (That is considered unreliable heresay and I obtained the evidence from an unreliable source..lol) You can bring your own laptop and pray that you get a decent wireless signal, but printing is only done for west law and lexus nexus which reallly sucks - but the printing of cases costs you nothing. 5. Rather than going 3 years, you go for 4 because you are slowly going through it so you are able to work full time. 6. Un-accreditted instiutions DO NOT FREEZE your student loans so you have to pay them and are unable to take out students loans to help with any of the costs...five grand isn't that bad...but it is hard especially if you are having to pay on under grad loans...you can get your loans DEFERRED which is what I did, but don't make the mistake of thinking that they freeze as it can hurt your credit. Also there is lots of fights like every day at this school there is a fight. Second of all my kid told many times of people are getting falsely accuse of actions. Third of all there the teacher who abuse the fact that they have more power then students like when my son told me about a time where he told the teacher the right answer and she got mad and told him he was using ai.

My son went here in Kindergarten (2007) and I am so thankful that it was only one year he went…read morehere. Here is the story........ I got a call from the school one day because my son was sick and they needed me to come and get him. So I put on my shoes and headed toward to the school. 2.9 miles total I lived from the school. So I arrived at the school and as I was walking in to the school the Assistant Principle was walking out of the front doors. She stopped me and asked me if I had seen a little boy, I replies No and continued into the school. I looked back and saw her and another woman jogging down toward the road. I go in to the office and tell them I am here to pick up my son. They call his teacher and she said she sent him to the office, he should be in there. Well he was not. So I check the bathrooms right down the hall from the office and he was not there either. Then the light bulb went on in my head and my stomach dropped! Oh My Goodness, that way my son the assistant principle was looking for! So I immediately got in my car and headed back towards my house. NOW, this school is on a main road with no side walks, 45 mph speed zone, and semi trucks galore! I'm praying that my baby is OK. As I turn off of the major road on to another major road I see three cars stopped on the side of the road and the people standing out of their cars all looking down! My heart sank, panic sunk in, and tears started flowing. I thought the worse, please don't let my baby be hurt! I jumped out of my car and ran over to them. Thank God! My son was standing there with these complete strangers, the assistant principle, and another teacher. Apparently, my sons teacher told him that he had to go home because he was sick, my 5 year old son took him literally, got his backpack, and walked out of the doors, and started walking home. A passerby called the school to inform them that they saw a student walking down the road with a backpack on, that is how they knew they were missing a kid! A different stranger was pumping gas at the gas station adjacent from the turn he made on to the other major road and as he drove over to my son and stopped him and called the police. Thank god this was not some creepy child molester or something! Anyhow, my 5 year old son walked .25 miles on a busy roadway with no sidewalk until he was stopped by a stranger. The stranger told me he called the cops and the assistant principle said " I don't think there is a need for that" REALLY???? And then she had the audacity to look at my son and say " You know you are not suppose to do that, you could have gotten yourself hurt" HOLD UP..... Don't tell MY child he was in the wrong for going home like his teacher told him to. He was 5 and his first year in school and he did exactly what he was told. He was not told to go to the office ( in which he shouldn't be allowed to go alone to anyways) he was told to go home. The cops came we filled out a report. The man who stopped my son from walking further told me he would testify for me if I chose to sue the "h**l out of them" but I didn't pursue it. I did however go off on them for the negligence but never filed anything against them. I was told they have put in a buddy system since that incident happened and I believe that they still till this day use the buddy system. I am so thankful my son was not hurt and I am glad it taught those teachers something too. So, needless to say, I pulled my son out of that school when the year was over and never returned!

Performance aside, this is a school that should be an example of how well schools can work when faculty, parents, and community collaborate to reach a common goal of giving our children a well rounded education. All the props though really belong to the faculty here, they are tireless in their dedication and every one of them approachable and eager to work with you. Curriculum is built around language and reading. Children visit the Libra each day to check out books. They will also be receiving 30 minutes of Spanish instruction each day and will be amazingly fluent within their 5 year tenure at the school. Beyond that, the vibe is everything you hope and expect to find in East Nashville; friendly, open, diverse. Heck, you know your at a school in East Nashville when there is a hemp tattoo booth at your spring storytelling fundraiser!

She is incredibly patient, kind, and understanding, which makes such a difference when tackling a new language. But what really sets her apart is her energy--she's always positive, encouraging, and absolutely hilarious. She makes every class fun and engaging, which keeps me motivated and excited to keep learning. She knows how to challenge us without making things feel overwhelming, and she creates an environment where mistakes are just part of the learning process.
