The process can be a lengthy one, but when your pulling together an extraordinary true life-story with a team of producers, writers, project managers and a client, all from different parts of the world, running on different time frames, each individual living their lives with background noise and schedules that look like they already lack time to eat and sleep sufficiently...hahaha! All collaborating toward the same goal, this certainly is a process! From the beginning, with my initial communication with Nat Mundel, gave me a clear understanding of the process and opened the door to achieving my dream! As the team came together, we had many meetings, via zoom or phone, during which I always felt heard with my voice falling on intently listening ears, I was made to feel as much a part of the team as I did the process. At the time of contract signing, Covid19 had forced us into continuous lockdowns, causing financial hardship at my end. Payment plans were made available to accommodate my needs without question and has been worth every cent!! During meetings, with Arden and Fiona, we had laughs, as much as I had shed a tear or two over my heart warming but at times heart-wrenching story, with the traumatic and tragic events of my life taking on a life of their own, page after page, through our communications, phonecalls, emails, writings, our creative minds working together and Fiona's fingertips energetically flowing and forming this incredible true story of one woman's fight to find the resilience to overcome all she did to break a cycle of trauma, overcome tragedy and finally find her happy life! As we were nearing the final draft, we tweaked a few bits here and there that totally perfected the elements of truth within the story. When the actual final draft landed in my hands, I printed the entire almost 100pages and cried, with a sense of achievement and gratitude at the end result, we created a 'SCREENPLAY FOR THE BEST MOST HEART MOVING MOVIE'!!!! My excitement and gratitude I feel in my heart for my dream moving forward the way it is and the support I have received from all the team at Voyage Media is indescribable!! VOYAGE MEDIA REVIEW G.E.Jones Jr I was very skeptical even as I submitted information to see if I could qualify to for a free online session with Nat Mundel who was a Hollywood producer with many credits on successful projects in several genres, written and movies. I have had many thoughts of writing my story for a book, but I kept thinking who would want to hear my story? Especially in these days and times of COVID-19. After completing a few screening questions regarding my commitment level, which I thought was smart, I qualified to attend a free online session with several other people seeking more information that Voyage had to offer. I was extremely impressed with Nat and his passion for storytelling and his motivation for starting Voyage. But I was most impressed with his skill in communicating the information he had for us, and his patience with the people who were asking questions from many areas of his expertise and I gained so much appreciation for the challenge of bringing a story forward in the process. I decided to take the next step of the process and commit to pitch my story with a producer in a one hour call as I now had no excuse to at least see if my story had any value to someone who would know. I have spent $400 on many things many times in my life but I want to say this might have been the most gratifying spend that I can ever recall in my life! In this process, you can review the producers who are onboard with Voyage and select to whom you want to pitch to, and I choose Danny Llewelyn because I loved Akeelah and the Bee which he produced, but his bio stated that he loved working with established writers and new ones like me. After giving me a brief overview of the process his role in it he asked me questions about the two-page summary of my story idea. We discussed his thoughts and questions he had to get more understanding. I took this as an opportunity to expand my storyline to an area he thought was more of value. This was a great indication to me that he was taking me seriously and we had a TREMENDOUS 45-minute conversation, and this might sound corny, but my creative energy was on fleek!! Danny liked the concept and explained to me he would write a logline, strengths, and weaknesses summary for my strategic session with Nat. I decided to write this review because my expectations were exceeded and I now have confidence that I have a way into this industry working with professionals who are already proficient and open to share skills and contacts for people like me who have a story but need help in creating it. My life is about done. I'm almost 70 and have had many NDE's along with 28 broken bones. A virtue and a weakness I have is that I trust people and have been scammed to the tune of over 900 grand during my turn on earth. However, I've made a few bucks dealing with good honorable folk sprinkled in between the bottom feeders I've regretfully encountered. I ran my own businesses for 50 years and have never gone banko. I've had a crazy life and after many people telling me to write a book, I did. Called it Recovering Idiot. I've sold several thousand copies, made money on it and decided to take it a step further, steering it toward the silver screen. My observations in dealing with Voyage has been this... There are quite a few people who think their "pitch" ideas are top notch. I could tell from the initial group confabs that they are clueless concerning business, what it takes to create a good story and various other elements that a movie requires. It's a sad fact that a lot of the sheep trying to get in a very small corral are going to be weeded out. When they go, these one-star complainers are not happy. My wife and my large extended family think I'm bonkers for this endeavor (see their skit...https://youtu.be/KXt4z4DbzMo) I have shoveled a bunch of dough into this movie venture over the last couple of months. The numbers I hear people complaining about are relatively pretty small potatoes. I know I'm taking a risk but I am also very aware that if nothing or little is ventured, nothing or little is gained. It takes money to run a business and I understand Nat's business model. If they did this for nothing, they'd be out of business. Producers, screen writers, staff and many other facets are not going to operate for nothing. I've enjoyed working with Voyage. The entire staff so far have been helpful and accomodating. Dan Benamor has been great and together I think we've drummed up some pretty funny stuff thus far, adding to what a few people have called the funniest book they've ever read. We're using about 5 experiences from my book. I gotta say it's been a rough road. There's about 200 experiences left to go. I'm not sure why Voyage hasn't had a big barn-burner feature yet but I'm crossing my fingers (the ones I haven't cut off) that my ship will be the one that comes in. And if things don't work out, I gave it a shot. If Voyage sticks it to me, you'll probably hear me yelping. But I'm crossing my fingers and staying fairly confident that that won't happen with the experience I've had thus far. read more

I've been working with Voyage for three years, and it's been quite a learning experience, especially since I have no background in the film industry. They offer videos and documents that provide the basics for developing my story into a marketable product. It's taken time and effort on my part to go through all the material. Voyage also has an interactive website where storytellers and writers can share projects and learn from each other. The monthly membership plan is extremely reasonable, especially considering the value it provides. Live workshops are scheduled, offering opportunities to get feedback on our work. There's also a Training Vault with hundreds of hours of past workshops to delve into. I can choose what I want to learn, on my own schedule, and without the need to travel. A college course, in contrast, would be group-oriented with institutional requirements. I'm not interested in a degree, just focusing solely on my goal. Through Voyage, I learned to write a logline and a one-page pitch. I did the work with their guidance, and I own the results. With these products, I was connected with a legitimate Hollywood producer whose credentials and work I could confirm on IMDb. We spoke and felt a connection; he knows the area and history where my story begins, and is excited about it. We then worked together on an all-important outline/treatment, which I also own. I'm not obligated to continue with Voyage, and they've always been upfront about their pricing, including options for Voyage scriptwriters and two higher non-Voyage tiers. I researched to confirm the validity of their statements. I was also presented with an option to do the work myself, learning from higher-level Voyage workshops with feedback from my producer. It would take years at a college, costing thousands of dollars, with no guarantee of securing a producer willing to shop my story--something I now have through Voyage. I have had a great experience with Voyage Media. I am a novelist and children's book writer, with a property that I felt would work great as a film. I have tried other avenues, but Voyage Media offered a unique pathway to adapting my property and getting it 'out there' for production. I chose one of their producers, who seemed a fit for my material, and submitted my draft screenplay. The producer was excellent! He not only read my screenplay, but my original book my screenplay was adapted from. He really understood what I was trying to get across, and worked very closely with me on numerous drafts. I am not a writer; however, I went through an exceedingly difficult time in my life and thought my experience was worthy of sharing with others.
