Never would I have thought that I'd find my next hair stylist on social media! Ever since coming to…read morethe Houston area in 09, I've struggled to find someone to care for my natural hair. I would find someone, be with them for a while, and then they would switch up on their customer service or quality or work, and I'd have to leave. Sometimes, the distance to a great stylist was also a factor and made me find it hard to make appointments to coordinate with my work schedule and, of course, HOUSTON TRAFFIC! However, after seeing the owner of Canfidence and Quirks, Shay's posts on her work with natural hair- especially locs, I was drawn in and started following her IG page. I connected with her story of how she created her business just prior to the pandemic and was motivated and intrigued to connect with someone with this much drive could do wonders with my hair, so after a few months of following her page, I finally bookked a Zoom consultation which was so nice to experience since I was able to talk to Shay and get a feel for her personality and ask questions prior to booking the 2nd consult, which is in person. Let me tell you- I've had consulatations before, but I NEVER experienced the thorough and individuality that Shay provided. We talked about every facet of factors that may be an obstacle to my hair growth goals. Easy to talk to and personable, I knew Shay was the person to take my hair to the next level. After the 45-minute consult, I received a personalized 6 month plan to elevate and meet my hair goals, which included the services I should book each month and approximate costs of services. The last statement was a great indicator that Shay cares about her customers because most of us live on a budget (or should) and that's truly looking out to let people know what your prices are ahead of time. I haven't even had my first hair appointment yet, but if the customer service and care I've received so far is any indication of what her hair skills are, I think I FINALLY after 10 plus years found the right stylist for my nature hair. I will certainly update my review accordingly after that happens, but I'm confident you will find Shay's insight, service, and timelyness (She was on time yall for both consultations), to be a breath of fresh air in an industry that is filled with people who only want the cash but have no idea how to keep customers becaude they lack customer service IQ.
