There are a few located in Birmingham, this one is not the biggest but has necessaries. They are usually busy and fresh meat and milk do get cheaper before they close because they will go out of date. They dont have a reward system like other supermarkets like Sainsbury but they are generally cheap and the things in here are authentic and are really nice. They dont have a rating of how spicy they are unlike sainsburys though but recommended.

Anyway it fulfils it's purpose of being a convenience store, as does the cafe - so perhaps the cafe is best described as more of a convenience cafe. It's not the most extraordinary of establishment that you'll ever visit (in case you were expecting that) - but it's prototypical, reliable convenience store to get a mars bar and a pint of milk when passing by or in your slippers.

It doesn't open till 9am, however, it is very handy to have something close by if I run out. We've been in their for supplies to ease of a cold as well as basics such as eggs and bread when we've been caught short. Service is always good. They also have dry cleaning from here now and it's a point to collect post if you're out during the day. Spring hill Tesco, however, does boast a pretty damn good world food section covering Asian, Caribbean, Polish, Oriental, American and Irish. Fortunately this also extends into the frozen food section so bags of frozen okra and tilapia fillets are right on your doorstep (not literally). In an ideal world we'd always go to markets and independent traders but in reality you need everything in one place and Tesco's world food section delivers on this. True, you don't have the wealth of selection that you'd have at one of the big Chinese supermarkets like Wing Yip but then again it's only a Tesco!

Quite often, there are reduced items that are great to buy very cheaply, although you wouldnnt be able to do a very extensive weekly shop here due to its small size. Also, the que and till is very difficult to get to, and cramped to stand in when there are a few people waiting. Despite this, staff are friendly and helpful.

This Tesco Extra is strategically located at the Beggar's Bush intersection, one of the borders between Boldmere/Sutton and Erdington. As such, the store maintains a respectably sized customer base throughout the week and can get fairly busy. There are usually enough tills open to deal with the crowds, and I've found the lines to move faster than other large Tescos. There is a free-to-use car park for the many store guests, and a bus route through the area picks up and drops off on Jockey Road in front of the store. Despite cutting back at numerous other locations, the New Oscott Extra is open 24 hours a day Mon.-Sat. with a limited schedule on Sundays. I've been to just about all of the Extra locations in the greater Birmingham area and I think that this location excels in several areas. First, the interior of the store is laid out logically and is very easy to maneuver. Most of the home goods are placed on the second floor, making it much easier to get in and out if you just want to buy groceries. The inside is almost always impeccably clean as well. Owing to the 24 hour schedule, Tesco staff here stock and arrange the shelves throughout the day. With the exception of some of the larger stores in Hockley and Yardley, the selection here is exceptional. The store has allocated several aisles to toiletries, including some men's care items that can be difficult to find elsewhere. The home cleaning aisle features Method brand sprays and cleansers, which only a few Tesco stores carry. There is also an entire aisle devoted to wine, and an aisle for beer. If you eat as much pizza as me, you'll be delighted to know that the full line of their fresh and frozen pizzas can be found here. The store also features a click and collect kiosk in the car park, and a Tesco gas station near the Chester Road entrance to the retail park. As far as I am concerned, if you live in the North of Birmingham or Sutton Coldfield and want to save some cash on groceries, this Tesco Extra is one of the best options you'll find!
