It's not often I get the chance to do that in here as the place is jam-packed from floor to ceiling with all sorts of stuff, so if you're in a hurry or if there's more than one other person in this rather cramped shop, you'd be quicker just to ask them if they have your particular item in stock. The first time, I was after a hammer - which I found quickly and cheaply here. The second - I was in the market for some fairy lights for my Christmas tree - which again were easy to find and cheap. They even tested them for me in the shop to make sure they worked properly. As well as having the usual hardware store produce (you know, hammers and nails and such DIY tools) this shop also sells homeware bits and pieces and seasonal produce. At the moment they are decked to the halls with Christmas decorations, including a massive array of lights. Every time I've been in here I've had great service, and the guys who run it have helped me find what I'm looking for. Be aware that they don't take cards, though, so you may need to do a quick dash across the road to the cash-point.

I've always loved walking around DIY home stores and this one gives me no less joy! When you walk in, now that it's close to summer time, they have all their out door furniture and grills on display. This sends my mind in to over drive dreaming of all the outdoor BBQ's my guy and I will have this summer once we buy a new BBQ. We have spent many moments in the light bulb isle which is right next to the summer display as there are so many different types of bulbs out there now days. Our most recent trip, we were looking for paint colours to give to the builders who have been occupying and will be occupying our living spaces for another week or so. What fun picking out paints is. So many to choose from and so many different price ranges, there really is an option for even the most budget savvy. I could spend hours in this shop, but this recent trip we were in and out with our choices of colours and I think we were quite happy about it. The staff here are super friendly and there's always someone around the corner waiting to help. I love this store.

The staff are very helpful and it seems that, if you can't find what you're looking for, they probably have it out the back, so it's worth asking! One end of the shop is given over to the picture framing area. They are very experienced at this and can give professional advice on framing. There is a wide range of frames and mounts available. You might pay a bit more here than in the larger chain-stores (which is only to be expected) and sometimes the shop is extremely crowded (which does show how popular it is). You may have to wait a while in a queue and it's a bit of a squeeze moving about especially in the narrow space beside the counter.

The prices can be a bit more than other diy places but the 10% weekends are really handy.

You take these to the cash desk, order your items & pay and then the staff bring your bits and bobs to you. You can buy paint, screws, sandpaper, power tools, working clothes & safety gear, plumbing supplies...you get the point. You can check prices online and click & collect to pick up in store. It's also worth noting that if you are buying more than one of something the price per item may be less. Similar to Screwfix, which is in the same industrial estate, the same items vary in price between the two, so if you need a lot of something compare the price first. Staff are pretty efficient but have never needed to ask for help or really had any friendly banter from them so not a lot to comment on.

Unlike B&Q this caters across all of the categories that used to be called hardware (unlike DIY). So you will find corners stuffed with pots and cooking tools, fireplaces, handtools towels etc. I would not be able to list them all. Most of the goods are decent quality and will get the job done. More importantly the scurrying employess will be able to tell you where to find what you need. If you are local and need something in the hardware category - get your butt in here.

The window displays are always more gift shoppy than hardwarey and they have a delightful Mothers Day display at the moment. I have noticed that women tend to use the nice, lovely front entrance to this store which leads them past the ornaments and candles and the men tend to prefer the manly back entrance which takes them straight to the manly goods such as hammers and saws and such like. Gibbs sells all manner of things and I don't know what most of them are supposed to be used for but they look very interesting! There are bizarre kitchen appliances and strange gardening implements and all sorts. I like to take a jaunt down to Gibbs for little things that I can't be bothered traipsing all the way to a supermarket for. Things like light bulbs and batteries. I also had my keys made different colours at Gibbs because I need 6 keys to get into my flat and trust me, after a few vinos it can be a struggle to remember which key goes with which lock. However if you are more adventurous with your hardware needs there are some strapping men kicking about who can help you pick the perfect chainsaw for that chainsaw related DIY project you are working on you manly mans man you, grrrrr!

Selling a little bit of this and little bit of that, it's hard to pigeonhole this long running business. Broadly speaking it's a hardware shop, but like many Glaswegian takes on this idea, it also stocks, well, just about everything you may need only once in your life but can't get anywhere else. This, however, is the top of the bunch, with larger premises than most of the others and very friendly staff to boot.

It sells everything." I was intrigued. Sure enough, when I checked it out with another friend who was taking his laptop upstairs to Mercury Computing I was amazed by the bizarre but wonderful stock - full of gadgets and gizmos. The best hardware shop ever!…read more Every time I've been in there I've come out with exactly what I wanted, from plate hooks, to a saw, to a mop, to a bath plug, to navy Dylon. Everything is pretty jumbled (which I like, for a rummage) but if you're needing any help then the service is spot on - so far the wonderful woman has known exactly where every item I've asked for is. The best bit about the shop though is the good natter that you always get. I love it! Every neighbourhood should have a shop like this and every neighbour should shop at a shop like this.

Terrible store for key cutting. I recommend to go to "West End Hardware" on great western road…read moretowards the botanic gardens. Store is only around a 5 min walk from here. At West End Hardware keys were cut much more quickly and were cheaper than GLR.
