    Ancient Little Neck Cemetery

Mayflower and mayor…read more The Ancient Little Neck Cemetery is indeed ancient. It was established in 1655 and the oldest recorded grave is John Brown, the guy that actually purchased the land that the graveyard is on from the native Wampanoag tribe. The spooky old graveyard has lots of very old graves, memorials and plaques and if you take a look at the top of the old flagpole you will notice that it has a carved skull on top. A whole lot of famous colonial New England folks are buried here, including Elizabeth Tilley Howland who came over on the Mayflower and died in 1667 and Captain Thomas Willett, who became the first English mayor of New York. The ancient graveyard is an absolutely fascinating place filled with plaques and memorials about shipwrecks, wars and disasters. It looks a bit worn in places and could probably use a bit of TLC but then the scruffy look just adds to the spooky and weird ambiance. One of the coolest and historic colonial graveyards in New England. Over 1,000 graves here from 1622 up till 1993 and of course all kinds of hauntings and bizarre things have been seen in the area. An amazing and historic place to spend some time with the people of the past.

I tried to find out who owned it and finally got a hold of a gentleman who claimed to be a commisioner several years ago that told me that the Chinese bought it and that it was only mowed twice a year! Then I was looking at some statistics that werent very promising that there were sources that said remains from plots had been flung over a wall so they could bury someone else in the plot! My heart sank thinking that my grandparents couldve been flung! I havent been back to the cemetery in awhile as I live in a different state now but I am interested to see what can be done about the state of the plots and headstones. I understand that it is a historical place and that it is ancient. However there is no excuse for it to have been let go like it has been. I wanted to buy plots if there were any available so that I could be near my grandparents but I doubt there are any left. I would even look into purchasing the cemetery if I could get more info on it, so if anyone knows anything please let me know. tanyastrader@gmail.com

I talked to them while I was away and was going to pick her up on Tuesday my day off. Well I had to work so I called them on Monday and told them and asked if Wednesday would be ok. I was told no problem what time do I think I'll be there. I said about 12:00. My mom lived a little over 2 hours away. I get there and I tell the woman she said ok one minute. Then a man comes out and long story short she was not even done. She was on the books for that day. (Really) why couldn't they tell me this before I made the trip.

My Father suddenly passed away 2 weeks ago and I need to commend the facility for the outstanding…read moreservice I received. First the Hospital misplaced my father the day of passing and I was truly upset. The staff at the crematorium called the hospital, found Daddy and set up a viewing (for ID) the same day they picked him up. I was able to complete the paperwork that day and this was such a relief. The young lady who helped me was Lacey and she was amazing!! The level of compassion and guidance from all the staff was of extraordinary. I was so lost at the steps on how to handle the sudden passing of my Father however the whole team was right there for support and all of my questions. Thank you to everyone involved!! I absolutely would recommend using their services. They are also very cost effective and reasonable.
