The bathrooms were clean, a little older in fashion but clean. The store had a colorful variety of items; big array of alcoholic beverages, curious tricks and souvenirs and plenty of kids toys. The place smelled like a yummy fairground with the selections of fried goodies they had! I left smelling like them and I didn't even buy any- I'm not complaining about that As far as Covid precautions- They had some signs up about liability things regarding their vapes and vape pens due to Covid. But that's it.

Long version I have stopped there for gas a few times. I think maybe I got a snack once. Today, I was having a terrible day. My father, who is dying of cancer was hospitalized yesterday. I made certain he got admitted (after nine hours in the ER, but that is a different review). Today went I went to check on him the main road was washed out due to record floods, so I was rerouted to Dexter, mo. This was an hour out of the way and Dad is awaiting all these tests. I have all kinds of pressure from work. Everything is just going wrong in every way, but I need some food. I pull into this place and go in. I get a v8 and two chicken strips. Big deal, right? The lady was so nice and courteous! She was working hard to make certain that I was a satisfied customer. Good job, but there was more! I don't know how to say it, but it seems like, as busy as she was, she knew I was suffering and took an extra few seconds to make sure I was good to go and set. I did not think that much about it, nice lady. So I started to eat this convenience store chicken. Low expectations! Man! It was awesome. Hot fresh and it did not need any sauce, salt, or pepper! It was delicious! I thought it was a freak accident. So for kicks, on my way back at night, I went back there. My intention was to see if the chicken was still good and, if so get a little for my wife. It was an entirely different scene. In the morning it was all working joes getting coffee and a quick bite. In the evening, it was clear that this was the place! All types of people all over the place, like it was a hangout spot. I needed to get some sleep so I made my way to the checkout. Another person was very nice and friendly and seemed earnestly to want me to have a better day. Whereas before it was a mature lady, very nice, very professional, tonight is was a young girl, tarts and all hip. I did see lady that waited on me earlier doing other work, working hard. I thought the hip chick would not be cool, as I am 50 and probably considered to be either nerdy or Grandpaesque. Remember what a horrible day I am having, I was grumpy. Surprise, this young lady greeted me happily and served me as well or better than the more mature one! So this place has something going on. Whether, it is good management or just lucky to have great people, I don't know. After a really crappy day, it was beyond nice to be treated well. The chicken has a special great kick and is moist and delicious! I will be back! Surprise!

We moved here 5 months ago. This station is about a mile from our new home. It would be very…read moreconvenient for lots of our needs: fuel for all our vehicles and the tractor, quick meals after long hours on the ranch, a quick car wash on the way home from a road trip...but sadly, many of the amenities that are offered at most Valero stations are "temporarily unavailable" at this location, and have been for as long as we have been here. There are curled and faded "Temporarily Out of Order" signs and tags everywhere. The car wash has not been operational since we arrived. Neither has the ice machine at the soda station. At least twice, I've gone to refill fuel cans, only to find most of the fuel pumps "hooded," for whatever reason. Their sign out on the highway has only displayed their prices on rare occasion. It has been dark for a couple of months now. As for the staff: I've wandered the convenience store inside for several minutes, looking for a specific item, never to be offered assistance finding it. The staff seems mostly apathetic to customer needs and could use some basic customer service training. They rarely smile, and are often just indifferent to any attempt at rapport. After several visits, I finally came to the conclusion that I had not just "caught them on a bad day." but that this is just how this store was run. Now when I need ANYTHING, I will drive a bit further up the road to another station, where customer service is more than just taking my money.
