The owner really is as bad as the other reviews say...avoid this store unless you want to be treated terribly by the person who directly benefits from your business. It's hard to believe how awful she is until you see it in action--it almost could be a "Saturday Night Live" skit. I went in dressed casually (nicely, but casually) and with no greeting, she promptly informed me that they only sell "high end clothing". Apparently I wasn't dressed well enough to be interested in her "high end clothing". If you MUST go there, try things on and then buy them online. If you're looking for a better selection and friendly service locally, try Huzza or Monogram Goods in Harbor Springs, Threads in Petoskey and Bay Harbor and/or Vintage to Vogue (V2V) in Petoskey. read more

I came in here to browse and was met with what can only be described as blistering snobbery. The woman that greeted us was neither pleasant nor warm. She immediately prattled on about how the clothes in there were from designers in Europe or wherever. There was some disdain in her voice when I picked up a sweater which she had to inform me was cashmere as if I didn't know what it was. I was wearing a cashmere scarf. Then she contemptuously told us that the sweaters were all on display below the table so we could see them when I picked one up as if I had destroyed the shop. Despite this, the one in my hands was not there. I checked twice. Mind you, the place was an over stuffed disaster. Lastly she immediately informed us of a price ($269) and origin (Texas, you know...of France or something) of a basic button down shirt when it was picked up. Please insert eye roll here. Never mind it was clearly marked and we didn't ask. On top of this the clothes were mostly dated, loud, and definitely not worth whatever designer nonsense she was peddling. read more

As we walked in, my wife remarked that this place smelled or arrogance. She was correct. Rude Rude RUDE! Nice stuff, but absolutely rude. To the owner. . . don't judge books by their cover. Most who can afford your offerings don't flaunt it. The sign reads "Michigan," not Manhattan. Crawl back to a less hospitable environment. My friends and I were pretty woman shamed by the lady working. As soon as we entered, she said "we're closing"! I said "oh what time is it"and she said "4:40". Closing time was 5:00. My girlfriend was going to buy a raincoat. She abruptly asked my friend to come back tomorrow to pay that she was closing. I said, "Can't she just check out now?" And she said "no, come back tomorrow." Not sure why this woman would not want a sale? This woman was extremely rude from the moment that we walked in. Please take your business elsewhere. While visiting the harbor springs are, my sister and I went to this boutique. We admired the labels and designer dresses. However, for being a boutique her shop setup looks like a consignment shop. The racks are crowded and not presented nicely. The atmosphere does not match the boutique price tag. The woman who owns the shop is the rudest business owner I have ever come across. She grabbed a dress out of my sisters hands and told us that she would pick the dresses off the rack. We immediately left the store. I have no idea how this woman can stay in business with how she treats customers. Worst experience shopping in a boutique ever. The owner is the rudest person I've ever meant when shopping small business. I have to agree with all the negative remarks that have been posted. This was the first store I visited in Harbor Springs and I'm so happy that I did not leave this small town. There are some wonderful shopping opportunities and many great businesses with professional owners/staff. My shopping experience started terrible but ended with many purchases. I went into Wear last Monday while visiting family friends in Harbor Springs. I walked into this store with my girlfriend (it was her birthday) and a family friend. I wasn't terribly interested in the merchandise as my girlfriend was actually shopping for dress for a function. As soon as we stepped into the store the woman who I assume was the owner pretty aggressively stepped out from behind the counter to tell me that I needed to put my coffee on the counter. Totally acceptable, especially in a boutique. She then asked with an annoyed tone if she can help us with anything. I told her that is was my girlfriends birthday and that she was just taking a look at what was available. She then, in a very accusatory tone, asked us where were from. When we responded Chicago, she seemed to be satisfied at least momentarily. At this point I realized that this person was being outwardly hostile so I just thumbed through the selection of ties as to not provoke the situation any further. About 40 seconds later, in a very passive aggressive manner, she announced to all of us that she thought we would be happier with with the prices of the sale items. Upon that remark, I grabbed my coffee and walked straight out the door. I really was taken aback by how brazen this individual was. I was dressed causally, as was my girlfriend. At the time, I was wearing a $140 Orvis fly fishing shirt, Brooks Brothers shorts, Sperry Topsiders and a Tag Heuer Carrera watch. Grand total, about $2000 all said and done. My girlfriend was wearing a really nice summery dress and very, very expensive pair of hand made Brazilian shoes. The reason that I bring that up is the fact that I wear quality stuff. I know the difference, as I own a company that manufactures men's and women's accessories. I am a expert at judging garment workmanship. Every item in that store that I inspected wouldn't make muster in any of my lines of business. There was especially this military style woman's jacket that looked identical to one sold at H&M. Here is my expert opinion: Buy the H&M version, the workmanship would probably be better. In summation, I have to say that if this particular store owner would have been protecting her merchandise from people who couldn't afford or appreciate it, I would have understood. I probably won't go out of my way to service boutiques that don't service the demographic of customer I am after. But, the kicker is, this store has really, really terrible quality merchandise. Truly, this stuff is dreck. Your money is better spent across the street at any one of the other locally owned shops. I think in total, we spend about $600 on clothing on the trip. Most of that went to other small businesses in Harbor Springs. I'm excited for my next trip to Harbor Springs next year. I can almost assure you that this store probably wont be there by then. read more

Really wish yelp had the option to give negative stars, as W Wear surely deserves them. The woman working when my girlfriends and I visited the shop was terribly rude - it was really surprising. We stopped in about 30min before closing, and the woman didn't greet us or ask to help us she just declared, "we close in 30min". We started looking around, laughing and having a nice time and less that 1min later she again declared in a super irritated tone, "the store closes in 30min!" We immediately left, picking up the hint that she didn't want us there and was obviously anxious to close up - even though it was the middle of the afternoon. I can't remember the last time I was treated so rudely by someone in retail and obviously will never go back. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I have been in this store several times in the last several years as I often join my in-laws up in HS. This last time was the LAST time... on this last trip up my husband forgot all of our evening wear for dinner, etc. all I had left was my golf clothes. Before our tee time, I ran into town in my golf gear to get something to wear for dinner. I was greeted by the lovely (yes, sarcasm) woman who works there, as I walked she didn't say "hello" or "welcome", NO instead she says "Where are YOU from?" I should have said, the moon. Walked in one day about 4:40 p.m. , they close at 5:00. Lady reminded us that they close at 5:00, instead of greeting us and asking us if we needed help. Five minutes later, she told us what time it was, and reminded us AGAIN, that they close at 5:00. We (2 of us) were the only ones in the store! I would have purchased a beautiful sweater, but with her uncanny ability to push us out the door, we left, ALAS, no purchase! I have a friend who told me a very similar story about her experience in this store. Will not go back into this store. Sorry, I always try to buy local too! P.S. Do not go into this store unless you're prepared for the worst retail experience you may ever have. My friend and I went in on a snowy day in search of some new, DAV rain boots. Without greeting us, she walked out from behind the counter to ask if she could help us with anything and then told us how much the boots cost. Then asked if she could help us again. It was very accusatory and rude. Working in retail myself, I can understand having an off morning. This was not just an off morning, this woman does not care to make sales, clearly. I felt belittled and unwelcome. I will be buying my rain boots directly from DAV's website. I would think on a January day in Harbor Springs a salesperson would jump at the chance to make a sale. This store is nothing special and the women who owns it is extremely rude. She is an angry women who only seems to cater to local Harbor Springs women for private fittings who particularly are very thin. There are so many other stores in northern Michigan to get quality brands such as Huzza which is just a few minutes away. Honestly this woman makes no effort to greet you, and has a terrible attitude. Most visitors of Harbor Springs go there for the scenery, shopping and overall friendly, positive atmosphere of northern Michigan. You will not find this store to be delightful by ANY means. I am surprised she is still in business. Even the employee's at Woolly Bugger coffee shop just a block before W Wear said that she is rude. My sister and I were repeatedly told the store was closing while we were in it and it seams this is a reoccurring problem. She seems to close the store whenever she feels like it. She also made rude comments to my sister about her size while looking for a dress and the young girl working the counter seemed very miserable to be working there. SO AWFUL! Nobody else said it so I will, the owner is a bi***. I was told the store is closing in 15 minutes. In about one minute I fell in love with a Rebecca Minkoff bag but had no reason to support her store. Why buy something from someone so rude where I can be treated like a human being in Neiman Marcus. This woman needs to learn how to treat others in order to make sales. One trick is making a customer feel special. Don't own a store if you don't want to spend time there and actually sell your products. Unfortunately, I failed to read any of these reviews before I made the hideous mistake of entering this establishment. I was with my daughter and her two children, very well behaved by the way, and I was prepared to spend upwards of $1500 on something nice for my daughter. The shop girl, maybe the owner?, Could not have been more rude. No one here has exaggerated her filthy condescending attitude. She suggested we look in the sale section immediately, and actually made a face as she turned away from us. Like we were going to soil her ugly clothes. By the way if this is such a high-end shops she should really pay a little more attention to the merchandising as everything looked cheap all jammed together. I have never in my life been treated so rudely by a sales associate. I was excited to go into this store. I liked the look of the displays and was eager to take a closer look. I asked the clerk if she had a certain brand of jeans. She responded in a rude tone, "Uh, no. We only carry designer jeans so good luck with that." The jeans I was looking for are carried in high end boutiques. Even if I was looking for cheap jeans there was no reason for her to be so snotty and impolite. The owner of the store is the rudest woman I have ever met. My mom and I were shopping and she made us turn our cell phones off. We weren't even talking on them. I just pulled out my phone to read a text from my husband, and she ran over and told us we had to turn them off. On top of that, she kept telling my mother that the store was not a "self serve" store, in other words - hands off the merchandise. You're not even allowed to pick things up! The owner (I assume) actually said "nothing in this store would look good on you", "I carry all designer merchandise, and much of my client base is summer residents who live in Texas", "I don't think you'll fit in my clothes." Seriously, I'm a size 8! She implied that we couldn't afford her merchandise. We may have been dressed in biking gear, but I own a $70 million company and my friend is a renowned attorney. zero stars! The older woman who works there is very rude. I was casually looking through the clothes when she stopped me and told me that they only carry sizes 0 to 10 or whatever. I am a size XL or size 16, but I didn't ask her one thing about anything..she volunteered the info I told her that I should be very insulted that she strongly implied that I was too large for her clothes.
