Living in Los Angeles, this isn't a chain restaurant I have any access to, so I was excited to see this across the street from my hotel. I had only been to a Waffle House in Florida and it was a pretty bad experience so I thought I would give it a second chance and I'm glad I did! It was nearly 11 PM so the restaurant was practically empty minus the policeman that was conveniently (?) there and one other table. The restaurant was FREEZING cold. However, clean. By the recommendation from my cousin, I decided to go with a waffle double chocolate chips and a sweet tea to drink. I got my food pretty quickly since there was only one other table and the sweet tea had just been made so it was still quite warm even with the ice in the glass. The waffle was truly great. I loved every bite. I was a bit surprised the chocolate chips weren't in the waffle but just on top, however, it made for nearly a chocolate spread once I moved my knife across it. The sweet tea was mid though. I love trips to the south for sweet tea and I had better sweet tea on my trip than here. Not much else to say. Prices are super cheap for what I got so I gave my server a good tip. I think Waffle House redeemed itself in my eyes so I'll visit them if there's on close by on a trip. read more

Waffle House is a treat for me, coming from southeastern PA, where the nearest one is about 50 miles away in Bethlehem. So, when in Richmond, and there is a WH right down the street, I am in heaven. We grabbed a booth in the front window and were quickly acknowledged by Clyde, one of the servers on duty. He brought up a hot carafe of coffee and glass of milk as requested, and took our order for waffles, eggs, hash browns and toast. It all arrived within minutes and we were able to watch the cooks prepare everything. My beautiful sidekick was served first. Her waffle was golden brown and two sunny side eggs shining on her plate. My food came a few minutes later, but the waffle was clearly undercooked compared to her's. Surprised Clyde didn't notice, but it was firm enough to permit butter spreading/melting, so I didn't want to complain. All in all, breakfast was tasty and filling, as expected. It satisfied my Waffle House crave for a while. Strictly a comfort food moment, and critiquing it as such. read more

Terrible experience here! We were so excited to try our very first Waffle House and were terribly disappointed! We were not greeted when we initially came in and my husband had to ask how to be seated. It's a free for all and you just sit wherever there is an empty seat. We finally had four seats available but the waitresses did not clear the table for the first 10 minutes we sat down. No menus or any other acknowledgment, so we sat in front of dirty dishes. After that was finally cleared, I had to get up and get my own menus. When we finally got our food, the bacon came 15minutes later - after we had already finished most of our food. I forgot to give the Bro's at Waffle House their due props for creating a masterpiece late night must have for me and my son a few days ago. I wanted bacon so badly, and since my son and I are stuck together due to the Circumstances we made a late night Waffle House run for it. We were so hungry, and although I know it was late and shouldn't be eating heavy food, I had to have my bacon. I wanted gravy bacon, eggs and everything else that would kill you. We placed our orders and although the bacon was cooked a little crisper than what I wanted, it was really good! My son was also very happy with his BLT sandwich meal. read more

Been to this Waffle House multiple times. The food has always been great every time I've been here. The service today was great with a super friendly staff. Let's face it Waffle House is not the place to bring a date if your looking to impress but if you are looking for some good food cooked old school style then this is the spot. So, I wrote of the Waffle House in Durham, North Carolina (technically, it is the one in Cary or Morrisville, near the Raleigh/Durham Airport) that: -------------------------------------- So, this is my first time at the Waffle House (I don't get to come to the South that often). First of all, I answered all of my check-in questions here on Yelp with "no", but for at least 2 of them, that is a good thing. I have never even been to the Waffle House, but I still know that it isn't supposed to be "trendy" (the whole point is that its interior/s have not changed in decades, right?). And the Waffle House isn't "romantic" either, and it isn't supposed to be. It has a Spartan interior, and it serves the kinda-classic bacon-eggs-cheese-beef-pork-chops dishes (don't forget the waffles!), 24/7, 365 days-a-year, right? So I am going to ignore all the questions that I just answered, and just tell you how my grilled-cheese on Texas toast, and Philly Cheesesteak on toast, was (with hashbrowns, of course): They were all great. The grilled cheese was a good, soft, warm/hot-all-the-way-through, grilled cheese sandwich. Just the way a grilled cheese is *supposed* to be cooked. My cheesesteak sandwich was good, with jalapeno peppers and onions, and they gave me extra pickles (and they have Tobasco, like they should). The food is all fresh and warm, and the staff is attentive and pleasant. It is not super-cheap, but it is pretty cheap. The hashbrowns were the least impressive thing I ate tonight, but, even they were good-enough-to-eat. I will certainly come to the Waffle House (and to *this* Waffle House) again! ------------------------------------- Last April and May, I had work with a law firm in Durham. Now (in June), I have work with a law firm in Richmond. So, I am at this Richmond/Glen Allen Waffle House right now, as I write this review. Everything is just as good. Just as clean. Just as nice/attentive staff. Yelp had me answer the same, silly, questions when I checked in here (no, the Waffle House is not "trendy"! who cares if it is?) 30 minutes ago. Today, I had steak, eggs over-easy, country ham, and their salad; and it was all, exactly the same, and exactly as (really) good as the exact same thing I had had in my times at the Waffle House in Durham. Staff is diverse and everyone is welcoming. Came in for breakfast on a Sunday morning around 9am. Not too crowded. Coffee was brewed fresh while I waited. Turkey products are not offered here. They only have American cheese. This changed my whole breakfast order. I opted for 1 waffle and the coffee. The waffle was light and fluffy. The guy who served my waffle put a butter spread container on top of the waffle, which I didn't care for. I asked my waitress for real butter and she was able to find some. As much as I love Waffle House, this one was horrible on the day I visited. It wasn't the food (which was good), it was the service. The cashier was rude and tried to talk over every customer she "serviced". Her attitude was awful and if I hadn't paid for my food when I ordered, I would have walked out. The Waffle House used to sit far down on my list of places to have a hang over breakfast due to the fact that regulars sat and smoked and it was just a gross atmosphere to eat in. Just a few chain smokers can ruin a small spot like a Waffle House. My how times have changed. They even have a hostess on weekends! Service is quick and efficient and there is only a wait on weekends. I went this morning around 11am and had the place to myself. I always get the Cheese N Eggs with raisin toast and apple butter and I like my hash browns with onions only. I have friends who live for hash browns with everything but the kitchen sink thrown into them but I guess I don't really understand it.....kind of like french fries with cheese and gravy on them....not my style. The waffles are always crisp and delicious as well. I recommend the Waffle House if you are in a hurry and one is close to you. This is a very busy team! Our waiter, Timothy, took our large order and it all arrived fast, hot, and correct. We sat at the counter and watched this busy team at work. This is a well oiled machine, I loved watching them as they all jumped in and helped each other out. At one point a young child started crying and Laurie didn't miss a beat, she stopped what she was doing to bring this little girl a hat cheering her right up and restoring the peace. Our waitress Tonya was the greatest person we have ever experienced in a restaurant in our entire short 23 years of life. She made us feel more welcome than we do in our own homes. She reminded me of Ghandi and Mother Teresa, except better. She brought a glow to our table that can only be described as the Holy Spirit, and we are so full of waffles and blessings from her kind character and exquisite service. She deserves a significant raise, and it still wouldn't be enough. Next semester in my English writing class we have to write a paper on our childhood hero and I am going to write about Tonya. I disagree with my past self; Waffle House is soooo tasty. I finally tried a waffle at the WH, the pecan waffle, and Oh MY it was so good. The butter they give you is all melty and just spreading that on the pecan waffle was good as is. I ate half my waffle like that and then drizzled it with some syrup. Of course, I gotta get hashbrowns on the side. Onions, tomatoes & mushrooms are my jam, and I don't even care that Ryan C. says the mushrooms are canned and therefore disgusting. It is Dirty everywhere, table, seats, menus, floors, windows, bathroom everything but the prep station which is why we decided to go ahead a stay, that and nothing else is open late for food here on the road and we had no choice. I visited the waffle house @ 8400 brook rd last night, and the staff was throwing food that was left over from customer plates (mine specifically) , taking drinks in and out of the bathroom, not washing hands...awful experience. I think the cook "Oliver" may have been under the influence.... Food was burnt first time and the after asking them to re-cook it, it was partially burned the second. Eggs had egg shells in them, cook was swearing away in front of my two year old. Then they chased me down to pay my mothers bill AFTER we told them the check was together. Came here for lunch yesterday while on my way to North Carolina for the weekend. I don't expect five star treatment at a Waffle House, since it is a diner, but this place was terrible. The table and menus were dirty and sticky. I don't think anyone cleaned the table before we sat down. The server was a bit curt with my girlfriend and I, but nice to the people at the table behind us. We're not demanding people at all so this I didn't understand. She didn't even bring our drinks. Another server noticed we had been waiting a while for drinks and took our drink order a second time. Right now, instead of enjoying our weekend, we're at an urgent care facility in Raleigh, NC because my girlfriend has had stomach pains ever since eating the chicken sandwich she got at this Waffle House. She almost never has stomach problems and eats very healthy so I can't think of anything else that could have made her ill. Our guess is that the chicken wasn't cooked properly, since you have to be very careful handling chicken. I have been to many different Waffle House locations and never had any problems, until now. My girlfriend says she will never have Waffle House again. read more
