Leading up to our trial for a custody/parental alienation case it seemed we were dealing with someone who was very busy as we received little communication. I get that's typical in the legal profession, we assumed he had a busy work load. However, we were also paying clients and did not feel that he fully grasped our situation. We reached out occasionally and sometimes get a response days later (if any). I will mention that we requested a call to discuss things around our trial date to ensure we were on the same page. He did make time for us the day before our court date. While we appreciated the contact, it was too late to add any evidence or possibly make changes to help our cause. To make matters worse, he attempted to cross personal boundaries by trying to pursue my girlfriend at the time-- Who was also a client that he offered to represent for free so she didn't file against him(a blatant violation of professionalism and ethics). Robert Butler offered to reimburse me 5000.00 and never honored that arrangement. So I filed a grievance. When I filed a grievance with the Ohio Bar, armed with evidence to support my allegations, they chose to ignore the gravity of the situation. Adding insult to injury, this attorney used his connections, including his new wife, to manipulate the process and have my grievance thrown out. This was an appalling abuse of power and demonstrated a lack of accountability within the system. This experience was a $23,000 lesson learned the hard way.
