I happened upon this friendly shop a few years ago and on my first visit I mentioned to the lady…read morethat my dog was fussy with the food she would eat, so rather than advise me on which food to buy she gave me a load of samples and told me to see which one she liked and go from there. My dog took to one, which she still eats to this day. When returning to buy the food she also offered me to join the mailing list for the brand and said I would get offers through the post, which I did. I also tried to groomers recently and have now gone to them a few times. My dogs coat is extremely difficult to maintain and if I don't get to do it daily it gets matted very easily. The groomer there also said the dog has a very difficult coat so would be best to keep is as short as possible. I prefer her head a little longer and the groomer has always done her best to keep it longer than the body. A great personal service, they remember me when I go in store and are friendly and helpful.

The bloke that runs it is very helpful and is happy to order in anything for you that he doesn't currently carry in stock. I asked about the Nature Diet brand of wet dog food that our dogs prefer and he was happy to order in and sell me a box. A 15Kg breeders pack of dry dog food, which he did have in stock, was £11, which is very competitive when compared against the expense and hassle of driving out to a retail park and visiting a larger store, where you might get it for a pound or so cheaper. The last time I went in to the shop they were having issues with their phone line, so if you ring the number it might be dead, but the shop is very much alive and well worth a visit if you have dogs, cats or other super furry animals.

The staff are also friendly and very helpful, when I was waiting to be served the chap behind the counter was giving another customer some advice on food and medication for her dog - something about giving it before or after or with food, so they obviously know what they are talking about. The prices are also reasonable although I have been to cheaper pet stores, but it is not as expensive as some of the chains. Overall, I think this is a good store and would recommend it if you live locally and you have a pet!

The vets themselves are knowledgeable and caring. The centre encourages you to register your pet online and they'll invite you to an Introductory Consultation. The centre regularly runs special offers, at the time of my visit there was 33% off Micro-chipping with a full vaccination course as well as free worming for all kittens and puppies at first vaccination. I signed up for the Pet Health Care Plan, it spreads my care costs over the year with affordable monthly payments rather than huge bills. The plan includes; annual booster vaccinations, full health check twice yearly, year round flea prevention and worming and much more. The cost is £10.00 for a rabbit, £11.00 for a cat, £11.50 for a small dog up to £16.00 for a big fat dog.

It's really sad to see animals locked away in cages but the cages seem spacious enough for the animals as they each have their own cubicle with large spaces to move about if they ever need a stretch. The RSPCA supply a very informative booklet on what animals they are holding within their shelter and display at least a paragraph about these animals personally in order for you to have knowledge about their background, what breed they are and their age all for your reassurance. They have selected viewing times if ever you wish or think of adopting any of these animals so that you can bond with them.

Secondly the proceeds from the vet practice all go to the Cramar Cat Sanctuary which is also on site - how cool is that?? The vets, Sarah and Ruth, are really good with my dog, remembering his name, history and genuinely caring about him. All of the nurses and the receptionist are also welcoming and you can see that they care about your pet by the way they interact with them. Prices are also very reasonable with consultations costing £21 and 3 months supply of Advocate for an extra large dog costing £35 - I have paid a LOT more than that at other vets. Can't recommend them highly enough!
