This office does not care enough about it's patients health to require that its staff and patients wear masks durting a high transmission phase of the Omicron COVID variant. Sure, mask mandates were dropped at the time I last went to the Wailea Dental office, but it was the only medical facility I had been to that was not still requiring masks even though the mandate was dropped. Dental patients will be required to sit in a chair, mouth wide open, for the better part of an hour, so you would think that the dental office would do everything it possibly could to minimize the risk to their patients. And wearing masks is the least they could have done. My new dentist office had big signs everywhere that masks are still required, even had a sign tracking the current COVID transmission status. They were shocked when I told them why I was switching dentists. read more

They were disingenuous about insurance coverage and racked up $500 bill while I was on vacation. My dentist said what they did was $80 job. I guess , since I was the only person in the office and they needed to pay bills. In the end old crown was glued on top of existing cavity according to my dentist. I was recently in Maui on a trip with my girlfriend's family, when disaster struck...one of my veneers de-bonded. There I was, 5,000 miles away from my dentist in New York, sitting across the breakfast table from my girlfriend's parents with a missing veneer. Needless to say, it was a dire situation. I figured my only hope was to find a local dentist and hope for the best. After some quick googling, I came across Wailea Dental. The reviews were great but, naturally, I was somewhat anxious about trying a new dentist. I called and spoke to Hailey who informed me that the schedule was full for the day. When I explained my situation to Hailey, she said that she would speak to Dr. Olson to see what they could do. She called me back within a few moments to tell me they would fit me in during the afternoon. I arrived at the office later that day with no expectations. The short of it is that I had an incredible experience. The facility was beautiful and clean. The equipment appeared to be state-of-the-art. Best of all, though, was the people. Dr. Olson went above and beyond re-bonding the veneer. He recommended steps I could take going forward to prevent re-occurrence, offered to call my dentist at home to discuss the situation and described in detail the steps he was taking to ensure I was comfortable in an unfamiliar situation. It was such a good experience that I joked that I may fly back to Wailea for my next cleaning! In case I hadn't had a positive enough experience already, I realized on my way out that it's a true family office, with Dr. Olson, his wife Andrea and their daughter Hailey all playing a role during my visit, only adding to my appreciation for the great work. To top it all off, Hailey called the next day to ensure everything felt okay and to see if I had any questions and then followed up with an email summarizing the procedure for the benefit of my NY dentist. I would give them more stars if I could. Another AMAZING dental visit. Wailea Dental is EXCELLENT. At 66, you can imagine I have been to a few hygienists and Dentists in my life. I have been going to Wailea Dental for a few years now and WHAT A DIFFERENCE. By far the best practice on Maui. Hailey the receptionist is ALWAYS friendly and amazing. Dr Jeff is SO professional and knowledgeable. Formerly a REAL dentist from California, he is not some of the hacks I have had on Maui. Always the most modern techniques and equipment. His latest addition, hygienist Lauryn, his other daughter, is an 11 on a scale of 1-10. She writes notes after each of my cleanings and has VERY skilled hands. I also had a few SDF treatments with her and she was perfect. When I sat down for my visit this past week, she remembered EVERYTHING from my past visits by reading her notes before I arrived. I feel incredibly taken care of and I know things change, but they are my Dental practice "for life". :) read more

Going to the dentist on vacation is terrible but when I found myself in excruciating tooth pain, I had no choice. I searched for a dentist close to my resort and found Wailea Dental. I decided to give them a try based on the positive reviews I read and I was so relieved to receive great service here. Hailey was super friendly and made me feel comfortable during the check in process. It is important to know that Wailea Dental does not take insurance up front but they will file your claim for you. I was quickly reimbursed by my insurance company so this was no big deal. It was definitely far more important to me to receive quality care. Dr. Olson was also very friendly and explained my options to me. I ended up with a painless pulpotomy and was in and out in less than an hour. I had a bad infection and the pulpotomy helped me get through my vacation until I could get home for a root canal. If I lived on Maui, this would definitely be my regular dentist. The facility is very nice and clean and while I am not expert on dental technology, I can say that they appear to have the latest and greatest of everything. I hate to spoil the surprise.. but, the patient chairs have built in massagers! Love it. read more

I am thrilled to have discovered Wailea Dental. I was not satisfied with my previous dental clinic that's been around forever and is in downtown Wailuku so after a particularly inadequate dental cleaning experience, I decided to research online for something better and stumbled upon Wailea Dental on yelp and looked at their website. So wow, now I'm a loyal client and super impressed. For starters, the staff is extremely pleasant, efficient and professional in setting up my appointment and answering my questions. I could even fill out all my new patient forms online if I wanted to....I love new technology, and that's just another example of how Dr. Olson has it. It's a family run clinic, and you can really see the pride of ownership and attention to detail to have the very best for the patients. The location is awesome, walking in is more like entering a first class spa with lovely decor and luxury teas. Everything is new and the latest dental technology, and super clean too which is a huge deal to me. Seriously walking in and meeting everyone who works there, it's like walking into a boutique dental office in Beverly Hills or something, I loved it. I was promptly seen by the dental hygienist, Sherry, and settled into a buttery soft leather dental chair with a back messager .....nice, I'm super spoiled now. :) And my dental cleaning was wonderful, Sherry is very thorough and professional and gentle.....it was completely painless, and my teeth felt and looked sparkly clean afterwards. I am actually looking forward to my next dental cleaning and Sherry is awesome :-) The price was good too, the same fees that I paid for with my previous sub-par cleaning in Wailuku that had an old worn out office and rushed staff. In contrast, Wailea Dental and Dr. Olson really goes the extra mile too, always making sure things are right and wanting you to be happy as a client. Thank you thank you thank you!!! to Hailey and Dr. Olson for accomodating me last minute on the day I landed in Maui!! I had the biggest toothache the day before my trip but the airline wouldn't let me reschedule my flight so I had no choice but to take our early morning flight. I called the minute I landed and luckily, Hailey and Dr. Olson was able to see me in a matter of hours. A few xrays later, turned out I had a tooth infection. I was prescribed antibiotics and was guided on what to do when I get back home from our trip. I can't thank the staff enough and my trip to Maui turned out perfectly!! Refreshing to find a full service high tech dentist using state of the art dentistry techniques and equipment 5 minutes from home. This practice supports good Hawaiian values, family run, staff and dentist Jeff are full of good cheer and patient comfort it top of their mind. Skills are second to none. I have had years of neglect corrected in the past 4 months and can truly recommend their work. Crowns, replacing old metal fillings, and discolored composite fillings- I have a great new smile! Even a crown in the front tooth, it all matches perfectly. Even though they do not take insurance, and you pay the dentist full price at the time of the visit, they do file your claims immediately- before you leave the office for super fast reimbursement by insurance. One recent Thursday evening in Maui, my tooth started to intensely throb for a non-stop 6 hours. The pain was so excruciating that I was chewing on a towel all evening. That Friday morning, I made the (obvious) decision to call up any and every dental place, begging for someone to take me in and diagnose what was going on. Thankfully, Hailey from Wailea Dental called me and let me know that she could see me at 11:45am. This was of course amazing, not only because it was last minute but because this was the 'top rated' dentistry office in town. Let me tell you, Hailey, Dr. Olson, and the rest of the Wailea Dental team are so extraordinarily friendly, knowledgeable, and just outright genuine in their demeanor, approach, and overall care. They took me in without an appointment, saw me quickly after filling out paperwork and let me know what my options were right away. (I needed a root canal...) Hailey took care of the insurance reimbursement, and Dr. Olson and the rest of his team couldn't be more helpful. I met Dr. Olson when he saw me on an emergency cold-call visit to replace a filling (from another dentist) that fell out just 2 days before leaving on a trip to Europe. Expecting a temporary fix, I was surprised at the level of care and attention to detail I received. The repair was meticulously executed and permanent. Long story short, I returned to Walea Dental for a full checkup and I'm thrilled to report that Dr. O is now my new dentist and I couldn't be happier. My worst nightmare came true! I was thousands of miles away from my home and dentist, and found myself in excruciating pain. I had cracked my tooth years ago and neglected to take the proper measures to fix it. It never gave me any pain. When I arrived in Maui on vacation I began to experience shooting pains in my cheek and jaw. I woke up the next day with a swollen cheek and tears in my eyes. I found Wailea Dental on yelp and immediately felt at ease due to all the positive reviews. They were fully booked the morning I called, but managed to sneak me in due to the severity of my pain.
