After surviving the devastating West Maui Wildfires, our family was forced to relocate across the country. Wanting to support a struggling local community, we chose Wailea Movers, believing a local company would handle our move with care and integrity. Unfortunately, we couldn't have been more wrong. From the start, Wailea Movers was unprofessional--showing up without enough boxes to pack our inventoried belongings and with staff openly requesting gratuities. Upon delivery, we found many of our remaining items damaged, and after cataloging $4,500 in missing and broken belongings, we were immediately directed to their insurance company. Once our payment cleared, the owners refused to communicate with us directly. After four exhausting months of jumping through endless hoops, we received an insulting settlement offer of just $69. When we pleaded with the owners to at least meet us halfway and help make our family whole, we were ignored. Instead, their insurance company informed us to stop contacting Wailea Movers, making it clear that their decision wouldn't change. For a local business to treat a local family this way--especially in the wake of such a tragedy--is nothing short of appalling. Wailea Movers has demonstrated a complete lack of integrity, professionalism, and basic human decency. I would not recommend this company to anyone on Maui or beyond. They do not stand by their customers, their work, or their community. read more

Worst movers ever! I've used Wailea Movers at least a handful of times. We had a move scheduled back in March 2023. On the morning of the move, Wailea Movers called and said they couldn't do the job anymore. We had to scramble to find another moving company at the last minute. It was also highly stressful and costly, as my wife was five months pregnant, and we had to pay a premium and do the packing ourselves. Despite that last-minute cancellation, I gave Wailea Movers a second chance last year in 2024. Most of the furniture arrived damaged, plus many missing items mixed with other people's belongings. On top of that, Wailea Movers overcharged me. Moving Claim Service used by Wailea Movers to handle our $14,000 claim is useless. Their claim process is inconsistent, blaming us for the delays. Our claim has still not been resolved after 4 months! read more

I would absolutely not use this company for moving and storage! I just received my furniture out of being stored for two months and it is completely destroyed. My three brand new linen beds have holes in the corners and dirt all over the frame. My brand new custom chair has a broken foot and a huge scratch down the side. Four side dressers all have chipped legs. My dresser has two gauges. My adjustable frame has a tear.They lost several boxes with my dishes. What did they do?? This is unbelievable! I did not receive a phone call with any "We are so Sorry" Nothing!! Our tenant hired this company to move out and they did over $8K in damage to our like new hardwood floors, admitted that they did it, gave us a huge run around with what appeared to be their insurance company (but wasn't), and now we're having to sue them to collect. We live in Lahaina and are in the process of moving to Oahu for work due to the fires and have spent untold hours trying to get this handled. Good thing my wife is born and raised in Maui and is friends with the mayor and knows the top lawyers. Read their negative Google reviews. Unbelievable. I recently spoke with a former client who is suing because they "lost" her $40K painting during a move. Shame on Wailea Movers...especially after what we've been through in Lahaina. Maybe it's time for the Maui News to do some investigative journalism on your business. read more

I had a move from maui to El Paso this year. when the shipment got here there was missing items and dammage to several items including an antique dresser. they sent me the forms for the insurance and after I waited almost 3 months I was told they were only going to pay less than 10% of the items damage repairs and replacement. I could never get the person at wailea moving to call me back and the insurance company said the movers were not liable for damage or missing items and I should have gotten additional insurance. I do not recommend this moving company, go with a more reputable company. read more

Outstanding. Highly recommend. Very reasonably priced. Can't believe I actually considered moving myself. Honestly my only regret was that I didn't call these guys earlier. Having several professional movers made all of the details so simple. The guys took down my television mounts, rehung doors that I had taken off my closet, were gentle with my houseplants, carefully wrapped every dish and picture frame in my home and saw them placed exactly where I needed them in my new apartment. My dressers got plastic wrapped and draped in blankets before going out of the room and nothing got scratched on the way out. The whole process was really professional and organized. Booking on the phone with James I had a very clear idea of what to expect and what prices were. I got a phone call from the manager, Mike, the morning of the move and text messages on my phone notifying me of the moving crews departure from their base yard. All I really did was explain what I wanted moved and what stayed in the rental unit. I thought I was doing myself a favor buying a bunch of boxes and starting the pack all my own stuff. The move from Maui to Oahu. On Maui we had a 40ft container. Crew were organized & worked fast but we had to help a lot to beat the clock. A few things got broken but what do you do. We bought everyone Jersey Mikes & gave them gifts like a plant they liked, a ukulele they were nice. Next day we flew out & waited for our container to arrive but it didn't. Much later we were told that as no one had checked out the street the container was to big & they took container away & without telling us put it into three Uhauls & of course there were damages & breakages. Our things were literally thrown in the Uhauls. On top of that they took my Costco three pack of bleach from Maui (it wasn't meant to go) & put it on top of my Murphy sofa bed it exploded & burnt through the whole thing. The Maui crew of three were not able to unload everything as they had to leave at three pm. We had to become crew & work very hard ourselves to get our things in as they had to return Uhauls & the remaining one was to be done next day. The next day only one of Wailea Movers employed crew showed up!!!! & this was strange, with someone he met at "a meeting" who had a sore back & kept going missing doing what we don't know & barely helped but out of desperation he brought him as James did not supply a crew. Yep James sent one employee to do the work of three. Plus we had to pay the dude $50 as James didn't authorize payment for him. But he did nothing. Therefore another day of hard labor for us. We busted our butts & It killed us physically. I ended up in Kaiser getting X-rays. Our fridge is scratched, scraped & dented. My ceramic antiques are broken. The Murphy bed is destroyed. I cant find something last seen by a mover. I did inform James. The claims lady Toni talked to me very ignorantly & used bullying tactics. Then said she wasn't going to work with me when I called her out. She said I'd probably send fake receipts it was bad. So how can claims be filed?? James acts nice but he doesn't care even when his guys put the bleach on the Murphy bed. Avoid them. It was a shit show. I've asked James to make right what he knows the crew destroyed & no compensation for us becoming the crew either. I guess I'll hear from him here...... We spent I think close to $30,000 read more

I couldn't buy insurance, and items I begged Wailea Movers not to damage were precisely the things broken: one of three artworks completely demolished, my six-foot tall carved statue, the carved coffee table from Bali, and carved chest had a leg completely broken off. James, the head of the company, had me pay $1500 extra take apart and move my computer furniture, and neglected to tell the receiving movers they needed to put it back together, and of course they didn't. Ditto the sleep number bed. Wailea Movers could place blame on the movers in Florida, but the following could only have been done by them: the portable air conditioner in Hawaii was forcibly pulled out of the wall even though I left a note on it! No one in the crew admitted they'd done it, and I have unpacked everything in Florida, and it is not there. I think they took it for their own personal use since many lived together at the Maui Baseyard. And they all demanded to still be tipped! read more

Buyers Beware! They have a great sales pitch and horrible execution that left us with +$6,500 in damages. Something must have changed in 2022 because there is a recent increase in terrible reviews that match our experience. The short of it is don't believe their 'promise' to protect your belongings, pad furniture, or bring / use the packing materials they itemize in their home audit/ consultation. Their owner James does not seem to care about more than his guys smiling while they ruin your belongings. Don't get fooled by their 'claims department'. I would never use them again. read more

The absolute worst moving experience of my life. I am a single woman who needed and was sold their "white glove service" that included re-assembling my antique furniture. I also wanted them to put the furniture in place and help me unpack the boxes. THAT IS WHY I HIRED THEM..james promised they would be so great and so fast. NONE of it happened. Three guys showed up and moved my things into the house just but didnt come close to finishing. They even left their tools and blankets here. It's five days later and I have to hire another company to finish the job. Charged me $2,000 and I just looked closely at the paperwork...James wrote, "Unpack only" on it! WTH? Wailea Movers charged me over $1100 to move my sofa, a paddleboard and a small surfboard from Kahana to Kihei. The sofa (less than a year old, expensive custom-made piece) got damaged in the process, but I was told I had to pay in full before filing a claim, which I did (leaving me with zero leverage), but their claims process is so detailed and convoluted that it makes it nearly impossible to comply with all of their documentation requirements. The guys doing the move said they would come back the next day to repair it, but of course that never happened. I would have thought that paying the high-end price for moving a small number of items would have come with exceptional service, but I'm sadly disappointed. read more
