If you are looking for a dog park here on the west side, this is it! It may be easy to miss, but…read moreit's on the right side of the lower road before you make a right onto the main highway - you'll see a small, blue "shoreline access" sign and just make a right - the dog park is the first lot on your right. If you drive all the way in, you'll find bathrooms and the start of the beach path to Duke's, Airport Beach, and the resorts Honua Kai, Westin KOR, and the new Westin time share property, Nanea. The park is separated into 3 sections - the dog park (first on your right), a grassy patch on the left (which I think may be a run off for sewage.. Ew!), and a very small area with a few picnic tables and a restroom where the beach path begins. Unfortunately you can't take your dog on the beach path, but the first park is big enough for your buddy to run around and socialize with other dogs. There are a few picnic tables for you to sit and hang with your furry friend. Close to the beach path there are also some picnic tables, but it's a really small area and usually there are a good amount of people walking, so don't expect to have any kind of intimate beach picnic here. It's great for a quick lunch, but I wouldn't sit down to BBQ or have a gathering in this area. There is a good amount of beach parking, but the beach out front is pretty rocky so I wouldn't suggest going there for a swim. It's the perfect spot to park and go for a run on the beach path during sunset, but make sure you get back to your car well before 7pm, they close the park gates at 7, even if your car is still in there! Better to walk here if you live or are vacationing close by, that's what we do!
