The swimming was nice but there were a few times we had to fight the drift would debris... it a huge problem...just another fun/creative activity for the kids. Long/endless mountain biking along up the forest rd...one could ride almost forever, heading northwest up all the way to head waters of the Columbia river, just north of Mica Creek and the far northern end of kinbasket lake. Our cabin (Sanctuary) was the roomiest of the cabins from what we could tell. Tucked away on the southern end of the property, south of the forest rd., from the main office. We had great views of rye river but unfortunately the main door to the deck didn't have a screen so...we had to keep our door shut to keep the bugs out. It was hot the first two days so Thai was definitely a bummer. The up stairs master bedroom only had two windows that opened with screens...again, kinda a bummer when it's hot. The kitchen and front room are the same...small area and without being able to rely on a screen patio door to the deck, the room can heat up and get quite full with 4-6 people. The door wall has a leak too so be sure to not put any air mattresses near this part of the room if it rains. Overall it's a nice place and any family should enjoy themselves here. Just be sure to bring All of your food and snacks in. There's really no amenities at this facility from a retail side. I'd suggest booking stays during the cooler months due to the heat. You're only at 2500-3000 feet/1k meters so you can't rely on the mountains to be cooler. You can bring a boat up but the dock seems to constantly full of drift wood. I'm sure it could be pushed out. Not sure what he charges for docking. The fishing is pretty solid. The shoreline offer a pretty substantial drop off so it gets deep, quickly. Great for shoreline trout fishing. I cheated with power bait for tue kids and we killed the bull trout - Good fighters/fast etc. Don't worry about the trash on some of the other reviews.... they actually drive by a few times a day and pick up all the trash from the smaller cans and put them into a bear safe larger receptacle near the main office. The best camping sites for tents and small trailers would be on the far eastern end of the property along the main lake side. It seems to have the most cover and privacy. The last three sites seem to be the largest with amazing views of the lake/river. See my pics The general showers and bathrooms are located centrally to the main property... We had a bathroom and a half bath in our cabin so we did not use these facilities however, my brother-in-law use them with his kids and he said they were warm and suitable. There's a lot of interesting history here... I believe the original owner was a retired Montréal Canadiens hockey player. Keep your expectations in check and again, any family can come here, prepared, and have a wonderful time.

We stayed 3 nights in a private cabin at the end of June as part of our honeymoon at Heather…read moreMountain Lodge. It was opening weekend for the summer season for the Lodge and Restaurant. The cabin (cabin 2) has a wood-burning fireplace, hot tub (use with doors and windows open for full effect), and an extremely comfortable medium-firmness california king bed (my wife prefers a soft mattress and I prefer firm, so medium is as happy as we can find). The views of the mountains in the morning and evenings are truly magical, especially after a day spent doing mountain activities in Glacier National Park. We ate 3 meals at the restaurant. 2 dinners and a breakfast. The service was exceptional, and I wish I lived closer to the food! I had the most inspired charcuterie plate that I've ever had, my wife was extremely impressed with the gluten free bread for her sandwiches, and do not pass on the creamy leeks with baked eggs and maple bacon! I wish this place was in Chicago. Oh, and if you are a beer snob like me, you have to try Mt. Begbie's Cream Ale if they have it.... All the staff are extremely accommodating and ready to help you find things to do between the best meals you'll have in Canada.

I went to this place for my birthday and was pleasantly surprised. It was more beautiful and nicer…read morethan I even imagined. The lodge is simple, but has tastefully appointed rooms with most amenities. The view is stellar, and it was great sitting on the adirondack chairs, or hanging out in the hot tub when the sun goes down facing the beautiful mountains. The staff were EXTREMELY friendly and knowledgable about all the questions we had about the hikes, and activities in the surrounding area. Breakfast was included, and was all local or used food grown in the hotel's garden. My only gripe is, there are no fridges, and you either have to drive to Golden or Revelstoke to eat, otherwise it has to be the food at the hotel restaurant, which isn't cheap. They serve it buffet. Breakfast is $15, lunch $20 and dinner $23. we brought our own snacks, but ate at the hotel twice outside of bfast and then in Revelstoke for the other meals. This hotel is gorgeous in summer and has so many places nearby to hike, and horseback ride, as well as is a heli-skiing heaven. I'd definitely go back. Apparently they have wedding here all the time, we saw one taking place and it was absolutely stunning.
