For that wee special delicacy it's always worth popping into Waitrose. I wouldn't use it as a regular supermarket though, it's just too pricey for that. Morrisons is more in my budget range for the weekly shop, but there's always something in Waitrose to tempt you into spending more than you intended when you came in. Of course, all supermarkets want to do just that, but Waitrose seem to manage it more easily than most. This branch isn't huge, but it's somewhere larger than a 'metro' size and has more in it than you would think. They've even opened up a wee coffee bar at the front now, which seems to attract a few thirsty shoppers. The upstairs car park gives them a big advantage over Tesco and M&S farther down the road for bulk shoppers with deep pockets, but for me it's always a hand basket '5 items or less' style of visit. read more

The whole of the G12 postcode seemed to have a collective orgasm when Waitrose opened. Conversations in coffee shops shifted from bandwagon-jumping politics to whether or not Waitrose sold quaill's eggs, and it's arrival was exactly what the West End needed. Not only did it provide reassurance to it's residents that they were just as middle class as those from the nice parts of Edinburgh, but it allowed the West Enders to finally ditch their transparent bohemian pretence and concentrate on what's really important in life, like eating pheasant. When people talk about Waitrose it's position as a status symbol never seems far off their lips, but the quality is there too. If you're after something a bit special for dinner they sell countless brands you won't find elsewhere, and things like veal and venison that are often unavailable in other supermarkets. Well laid out, well stocked, and with a token nod to the fairtrade ethos if you feel guilty about spending a tenner on a loaf of bread. I'm glad they've arrived. read more

Waitrose is like the god of all supermarkets. I absolutely LOVE Waitrose! My friend highly recommended me to try Waitrose's sandwiches, so when my family spotted this chain on our way to the University of Glasgow, we stopped by to buy our lunch. Upon entering Waitrose, I was astounded by how spacious, clean, and organized everything is! I have never seen such a high-classed looking supermarket. The first time we came here, we bought sandwiches, dessert, and juice for a meal. The dessert (Cream Slices) was so light and tasty that my dad kept talking throughout the rest of our trip about how we HAD to return to Waitrose for more of their pastries, and that we did with much gusto! I'm not nearly rich enough to shop in Waitrose for the most part. However, you can sign up for a My Waitrose card for free and that entitles you to a free coffee once a day, so I find myself here more often that I would otherwise, usually I get lunch as well. They have about the same selection of sandwiches, wraps and salads as any other supermarket and a significantly wider selection of sushi than I normally see. No meal deal, sadly, but maybe that's a good thing since it prevents me from eating so many packets of crisps. Nice deli section too and, to be fair to them, a lot of their "essentials" ranges is pretty reasonably priced. Apart from that I tend not to buy much here. However, if you're looking at a recipe and thinking, "where on earth can I get jerusalem artichokes/a pheasant/sweet cure pancetta?" A decent enough supermarket, but not as amazing as I would have liked it to have been. It's on a good location on Byres Road next to some other West End hotspots and, as expected, has some excellent food including some of the most amazing potatoes I have ever had. My main annoyance is their meat. It's good, but not any better than any other supermarket really and especially given the price, is disappointing. There is a lack of butchers in the City Centre and the meat in most of the supermarkets is hit and miss, and overly priced.. (insert long overdrawn rant in here). Regardless, this is a great supermarket and one I would visit more often if it wasn't so dear and out the way for me. read more

The most divine supermarket I've been in. I wanted to just wander the aisles for hours and see all the wonderful delights they have here. Much cosier and better use of space than Somerfield which used to be here and so new and shiny at the same time. They have counters for everything you could wish for and the food on display there looks delicious and fresh that it's hard to walk past. I also liked the fact that they give you tokens at the checkout (perhaps only if you spend over a certain amount?) that you then pop into a box as a donation for the charity of your choice (from the ones listed). This Waitrose is my corner shop, albeit it quite a fancy grocer for such a category, so I visit frequently and am probably spoiled beyond redemption at this stage. So much so ... until he discovered the whisky selection ... my vehemently socialist husband refused to even go inside the place, despite extreme convenience, presumably out of some class fealty, an allegiance that apparently stops at single malts. As an American I am less burdened by such loyalties. Bring on the Waitrose 'Essentials' profiteroles and reduced fat Brussels pate! High points include cheese and (finer) alcohol selections, though if you're after a 12-pack of cheap and cheerful cider, your options are a bit limited (revealing my philistine roots!). In a pinch on nights after watching too much Jamie Oliver, Waitrose rarely fails to supply the random, slightly eccentric ingredient. However, if you're looking for 'brown rice' you'll be scunnered - 'whole grain rice' is apparently the germane culinary parlance ... *skeptical eyebrow* It is literally the same thing and justifies at least one eye roll at my social betters per month. A win to balance the economy of snob - snark. Though the abundance of healthy produce and 8 to 10 different varieties of feta makes for fine dining during the week, it is not so easy on the bank account. In some cases, 'Offers' shopping at Waitrose brings the books into a relative balance, but in general, the budget stretches a bit further at Lidl, Asda, and even the larger Tescos (such as Maryhill) and Sainsburys (Partick). The recent campaign to support dairy farmers by buying milk from shops that pay a fair wage (http://bit.ly/1gXpivN) makes me feel a bit better about shopping at Waitrose ....... even if milk is only one of twelve items in my basket that could be bought more cheaply 20 minutes further afield. I wouldn't do my whole shopping in Waitrose because let's face it, I'm no Bill Gates, but occasionally I like to wander the aisles of the byres road branch for something special. If you are a foodie and like weird things like I do, you can find some truly amazing products in there. I am for instance a big fan of their tikka masala kit with "rose petals". Yep, fancy flower petals on my dinner. Bring it on every day. They have recently added "gochujang" to their range which is a sweet Korean chilli paste and I coul't be happier as I use it a lot (for Bibimbap for example). When ever I mention that my local supermarket is waitrose I generally get the same withering look followed buy a comment about how expensive they are. I would reply by going on record that most of their food is very reasonably priced. True there are some very expensive "treats" available should you wish to indulge but I have found that their day to day foods are on a par with, and in some cases better, than other supermarkets in the area. Also of the handful of times I have had to ask something of the staff they have been extremely helpful and informative. My only gripe is that the Japanese cooking wine (mirin?) is misleadingly stocked in the alcohol section and not their otherwise incredibly well stocked world food section. Waitrose has a reputation as an over-priced shop that only 'posh' people go to. (Sainsburys used to be thought of in a similar manner!) I was fairly nervous, but curious, the first time I went but I have gone back many times since! For most brand name items like Heinz or Flora its generally no dearer than other supermarkets. Where it gets a bit dearer is in the fish and meat. However, this is due to it being of such goid quality. I have never had a bad piece from here. It's fun to go for a wander round on Sunday evening after I finish work and pick up some reduced stuff, often you can get whole joints of pork or beef for just a few quid, and their own brand sausages are worth picking up on the 2 for £5 deal. 12 sausages for a fiver is a good buy, especially since they are sooooo good and come in a variety of flavours. They don't leak water and are big and juicy! The cheese section is awesome, and their bakery section has some lovely goodies, both sweet and savoury. The fruit and veg can definitely be dearer than asda, for example, with not much difference in quality but if you just need to pick up a lettuce or sime broccoli on your way home it won't bankrupt you. Their coffee machine makes a decent latte, and you can get a free one if you are a Waitrose loyalty card holder. The staff are always smart, polite and helpful. Formerly a Safeway, then a Somerfield and now an all-singing, all-dancing Waitrose, I used to work at this place when it was a Somerfield, so excuse any negative bias. Though my brother works here now so I guess positive bias will cancel this out (a better review means more customers, more profits, more money for my brother and hopefully more money for me. Clever, eh?). No, seriously now. The shop has been absolutely transformed, to the extent that it is barely recognisable as the shop it used to be, with longer, wider aisles and the checkouts now in a completely different side of the shop together. It seems a lot bigger since it became a Waitrose and I felt as though I had plenty of breathing space when I visited recently, unlike when it was a rather cramped Somerfield. It is hard to say whether or not Waitrose's own brand of food tastes better than Somerfield's but one thing you can be sure of is that the prices have increased. While Somerfield was expensive enough, some of the prices in Waitrose are very hard to stomach. Over £4 for a small pack of grated Mozarella, when Morrisons offer a bigger pack at half the price? The Waitrose brand offers more exquisite, upmarket cuisine than the more basic Somerfield. Though I don't feel that the range of products has been dramatically increased. Thankfully the checkout queues are never too big though and there are several smaller, basket tills at the new cigarette kiosk, which don't keep you waiting long. The more upmarket Waitrose seems to be a welcome step in the right direction in the eyes of most people in the area. But with a more expensive range, I would imagine that many former Somerfield regulars may feel alienated and turn to the newly-opened Tesco Metro on Byres Road instead. read more

Waitrose have recently just opened their Byres Road store, the first in Glasgow and I think it will probably do quite well in the west end of Glasgow. For those of you who aren't familiar with John Lewis' supermarket the company is a partnership and staff have a say in how the business is run and a share of the shops profits. In my eyes Waitrose stores sell the best quality products of all supermarkets. They claim to work with local farmers and businesses to support local products, they also have charity funds which they give out to local charities and the food is fantastic. As explained they have a kind business ethic and supply the best food, defiantly my favourite supermarket. Kind of Marks & Spencers end of the spectrum but they sell branded products as a pose to M&S who only sell M&S branded goods. The supermarket has been very busy but I suspect this may because people are keen to try it out as it has only opened recently. The shop itself is a nice place to shop, laid out well (better than Somerfield's use of the space) and has a slightly clinical feel to it, everything is white and clean. This isn't the best and newest waitrose but it does the best it can with what it has! Obviously one of the biggest perks of waitrose is the free coffee with a mywaitrose card. My second favourite thing about this store is the staff. They are always willing to help and offer any advice on a product if asked. Thirdly believe it or not waitrose offers great deals on some of their products which for quality are very reasonable priced compared to competitors. If you aren't happy with any product they are more than willing to refund or replace anything. Overall the whole waitrose and John Lewis partnership are top notch and I'm so pleased I live next door to this waitrose! read more

With the arrival of Waitrose in the West End the battle of the big four has begun. The Bohos of Byres Road see the first West Coast Waitrose to rival the East Coast presence of this high end multiple. Folks have talked about the quality and I had heard of the Waitrose lines from family, friends and the media before. So far everything I have sampled has lived up to the reputation. My wife has fallen love with the White Grape juice, "it is the best she has tasted". The Waitrose branded stuff is stunning but to be honest it would not be enough for me to venture into the crowds and parking hell of Byres on a Saturday. The selling point for me is the introduction of the quickchek system which is similar to the Sainsbury Scan and Save. The store provides a bar code reading device and you wander around scanning in your own groceries. You pack your groceries as you go and have no long line-up at the checkout. However, unlike the Scan and Save it does not provide a running tally of your grocery bill. If the rumours are true and this store will be joined by three others - I believe it has set a very high mark and has nothing to fear. read more

Quite probably :-\ Well, in all reality we're more or less in here once a week, picking up the odd thing or three (not all our *messages you understand) and in general no complaints at all, it's usually a fantastic shopping experience. In fact we're usually quite happy to pick up some Nigella-esque ingredients to Heston-up our dinner time, but in the last few weeks there's been a marked difference... Having supermarket managers' in the family the following are GRAND Faux pas, especially at 11am on a Saturday. Half empty shelves in a couple of departments, bread shelves 1/2 stocked, rotisserie items not ready and 2 busy counters manned by 1 person? And to top it off the Free coffee machine's constantly on "clean mode, do not use"! Ahhhh, DISASTER! But seriously, I'll get over it and I'm sure they'll pull their socks up in the next few weeks. I shop at Waitrose a lot when I stay in Berkshire. Not to sound like a bitch, but I don't like to buy non-organic berries or greens, because I know how to read. This location was lacking on both of those things. And a lot of the shelves were under-stocked. I like the layout of the store. It makes sense. Signage is good as well. Only person I interacted with was my cashier. She was very nice. Good selection of soups and those concentrated fake juice type of things that British people put in their water. Wine selection was decent enough. Got a Spanish red blend for £6.66 that drinks like something that'd sell for triple that price... 2004 Navarra reserva from San Antolin's. Very pepper and earthy wine with balancing raspberry notes. Well structured. If I lived near a Waitrose, I'd definitely buy a case of this stuff. Excellent quality-price-ratio. The next wine I tries from here was a 2012 old vine grenache called 'The Cubist' . It was terrible and had nothing on the pallet, and none of the lush fruitiness you'd expect from this varietal. I got a bagged veggie blend... The mushroom one. Mushrooms, carrots, sprouts, kale. It tastes pretty awful. The sprouts are horrible and the other vegetables seem to have inhaled their bad flavor. I was really pleased that they had both Cholula and Frank's Red hotsauces. Those are two of my very favorites. They had a big selection of spicy Indian pastes. With a loud sigh... I admit I have yuppie tendencies and that I'm a real sucker for upmarket grocers. Living in the US, I thrived on Whole Foods Market (a.k.a. Whole Paycheck), Trader Joe's (famous for "3 buck chuck" - delicious wine for only $3!) and other local upmarket grocers. When visiting friends in London, I squealed when I saw Whole Foods had opened outlets in the UK. But alas, Whole Foods has not (yet) reached Glasgow. *tear* However, my foodie needs were met when Waitrose opened up in the West End. The quality and type of product offering surpasses that of ASDA, Tesco and Sainsbury's... and even M&S at times. Prices can be a bit much, but I always keep an eye out for specials. Visits to Waitrose have never really been insanely busy. The boyfriend and I would normally stroll in after training, or just wandering around Byers Road. The shopping experience has always been pleasant, and I love wandering the aisles of foods and looking through the cheese display, and meat and seafood displays (which are a bit small, but it'll do!). We often order online groceries through Waitrose, which is really convenience, and awesome with their free delivery when you spend over £50. The only "downside" is that they deliver with bags, when Tesco offers a "green" option of going bag-less and delivering your groceries in crates. And yes, some of the items are verging on the ridiculous (check the cookware if you ever want to see what people with more money than sense spend their cash on) BUT (and it's a big but) the customer service is really bloody good. If you can't find something you need, or it's out of stock, the staff will go look in the back for you. Like, actually check. No computer-says-no wankery. I'm doing more and more cooking at home and I can always - almost without fail - find the ingredients I need here. Saying that I love Waitress makes me feel uncomfortably middle class, but I do adore it. The store is laid out really well and it has some really interesting bits of things that makes the food nerd in me thrilled. I can't justify to make it my full time shop due to the slightly further distance from me and because I'd spend a small fortune on items that I want but know I don't need. I know I can get by without chorizo jam, fancy cheese, refrigerated cookie dough, katsu chicken kits, rose petals for food, or specialist flour... but I want them. And when I want them, I end up with them. It becomes easy to buy on whims as it's the only shop on my general list of easily accessible shops that lets you scan as you browse. It's one key way to avoid long queues and is another reason I end up loving the store. Some of the standard items aren't honestly badly priced. It can fit into a regular shopping schedule but I find the good stuff too distracting. The MyWaitrose card is useful if you want to take the biggest advantage of sales. I suggest against the coffee. Even at free, I've just found it not worth my time (I know that's picky but I'd prefer to pay and get coffee I want rather than get coffee I don't like for free). It's not a huge store but it feels more like an adventure than other stores at around the same size. My top must tries are the chicken Katsu bento box and the salmon teriyaki bento box. The salmon comes with a sweet potato salad, marinated noodles and pickled beet. There were tears and there were cheers. Locals danced in the street, drivers triumphantly tooted their horns while neighbours embraced and celebrated a true "I was there" moment. Yes, not since Belle and Sebastian pipped Steps to a Brit Award had West End trendies been quite so excited by anything. Waitrosemania, the only topic of conversation in Byres Road cafes, charity shops and vintage clothing boutiques for three months, hit fever pitch in early November as the store opened its doors to its new public. And alas, the hype was worth it. From the rickshaws offering local shoppers a free ride home to the history of the West End sprawled stylishly across the wall by the checkouts, Waitrose pulled out all the stops to become an instant institution in the area; not that it had to of course given its predecessor. While Somerfield did everything to make it seem smaller than it was to the extent that a wide of backside shopper in an aisle frequently resulted in a queue forming, Waitrose looks and feels like a proper, vibrant supermarket. The shelves are well stocked as opposed to bare, while the staff serve you with a smile and award you a token to donate to one of the company's three chosen charities as opposed to a spit on the face and a knee in the groin. The range of food is fantastic and while it may leave your wallet a bit lighter than most other supermarkets, as far as the West End is concerned, it is the best thing since sliced (organic) bread. read more

I'm a Waitrose fan anyway and this one in the West End of Glasgow was one of the first I had visited and one I return to when I'm back in the area. Again- the usual high quality food and great wine selection. There is a decent sized gluten free section for picking up breads, rolls, cereals, biscuits and pastas. This is a busy store but queues never seem to be out of control and it always appears to be well stocked. Staff are friendly and helpful. Really, its a supermarket so there is not much to say about it but its top quality produce and the prices are pretty reasonable too - not vastly different from Tesco or Sainsbury so its well worth a visit. read more

Im not a huge waitrose shopper mainly because i find i can get the same products cheaper elsewhere. I popped in the other day as usually waitrose have a good gluten free section. On this visit i was able to pick up the rolls and sausages i like plus a few other bits and bobs. A bonus of the branch is the parking upstairs. It can get a bit cramped trying to find a space but as I am not here that often i dont mind too much. read more

Getting excited about a supermarket seems a bit odd. It's a big space filled with things we have to find, buy, pack, transport, unpack, prepare, ingest, digest and excrete. Unlike a restaurant you have to do all the hard work yourself. It also sells things like bleach and washing-up liquid which you should avoid ingesting and digesting. Waitrose doesn't have hover trolleys, free bar or log fires to toast your marshmallows but it does have a great cheese section, decent booze section and some nice fresh breads. The crisp section sucks big time. At some level the store probably reinforces everything that's wrong with the UK class system, but you can do your bit for people who are worse off by giving them a green plastic token on the way out. They love things that are green and/or made of plastic. When they stopped doing the individually wrapped Florentine biscuits a little part of me died...... read more

Back in the day if you wanted to feel flash you would hit the La Vallee Blanch at the top of Byres Road and order a bottle of champagne. However the balance of power has now shifted across the road and if you want to feel flash you now do your entire weekly shop at Waitrose. It's a great store and in terms of range and stock it actually knocks spots off the bigger Waitrose in Newton Mearns (which the wife demanded we visit). However it is undeniably (and slightly unreasonably) expensive which means it doesn't deserve 5 stars. read more

Byres Road supermarkets have established their very own social hierarchy in recent times. For months, upper class Marks and Spencer towered above the proletarian Farmfoods and Iceland, sneering too at Somerfield at the top of the road, the latter fallen into a slump, amidst hard times compared to its prior glories as the middle class Safeway. But recent developments have changed all this - royalty has moved in, converting what was once a serviceable but unspectacular Byres Road retail unit into the streamlined, sexy and diversely stocked shop that the west end has felt it deserved for eons. Aisle upon aisle of top class produce awaits the Waitrose shopper, with even their so called 'essential range' poo-pooing the best that the Tescos and Morrisons of this world have to offer. Naturally, the price reflects the additional quality and choice of more luxurious "every day product" brands. However, one thing that has surprised me is that many of the products I'll typically buy on a lunchtime trip (sparkling water, sandwiches, biscuits... could go on) are rarely much if at all more expensive than the opposition. Certainly in comparison with Marks and Spencer the difference is perhaps in favour of the newer shop. And amid all this talk of quality and choice, who could forget the fun diversion at the end of every trip, where one is issued with a small green disc and conferred a god-like power to effect real change. You must deposit this token in one of three clear containers, each marked with a description of a local charity. Each will receive a proportion of a £1000 donation from Waitrose corresponding to their overall number of counters received. Now though, Tesco enters the fray, a nouvea riche lottery millionaire that has neither the airs nor graces to even acknowledge Waitrose's blue blood. An exciting time to be a prepackaged sandwich consumer methinks. read more

I can second Adam's review, although I'm going to be a grinch and give it a 4* because it was SOOOOO busy... even though I know that's not their fault and its because the store has newly opened....... and even though the checkout lady was wonderfully cheery considering how hard she must have been working.... and even though it's possibly the nicest supermarket I have ever been in..........OK, OK it's a 5* !!! I was on the hunt for some corn-on-the-cob for Sunday dinner and as Roots and Fruits had let me down, I caved in an opted for a sesh in this shiny new store. What a sight that greeted me; mad west-enders running around all over the place while weary -looking workers tried to keep the calm. Overall the experience was pretty bad as I could feel my blood pressure increase due to the crowds and I had to queue for what seemed like forever, however that still didn't mask how amazing this store is. As Adam says, the quality of food is top notch and the service I experienced was excellent. ANNNNND I was pleasantly surprised by the prices- yes, a lot of it is over-priced however I bought some basics- flour, bread, bananas and my lovely corn-on-the-cob, which were all reasonable. Political motivations aside, the bottom line is that Waitrose is a really nice supermarket. Nicer than Sainsbury's, and ten times nicer than Asda. The aisles are chocced full of unusual and exotic foods - all organic of course - and even cereal seems so much more attractive in here. However, the even bottom-er line is that Waitrose is an expensive supermarket. Yes, those crates of organic apples look lovely, but not quite so lovely when you've seen their price tag. Pity. Worth an occasional wander though, even if all you can afford is a bag of spuds on special offer. (Bet they'd be really nice spuds). read more

I had visited a couple of Waitrose down south and didn't think there was much difference between them and the majority of M&S Food stores that have popped up here in the last few years. However, after visiting the Waitrose on Byres Road I realise that they now offer a lot more. And before I get into it try to defer your attention from people who give this place fewer stars simply because it charges a slightly higher rate as there are some serious bargains to have in here. The Waitrose Essentials range is very good value for money and if you fancy a wee Sunday Roast, head down to the butchers on Sunday evening and you can grab a kilo of pork shoulder for £3! A price you wouldn't be able to find in the local butchers! I haven't used any of the self scanners gun things as of yet, but the shop does have a scheme were they give you a little token an you get to choose from three charities the one you wish the supermarket to donate money to. A nice little touch and perhaps somewhat superficial but still a good gesture nonetheless. A cracking wee supermarket and an asset in the West End, it has saved me on a number of occasions and supplied the little extra ingredient that makes the difference in a dish! Recommended. read more

I was surprised by Waitrose. When I learned that Somefield was closing to make way for the upper-class supermarket, I rolled my eyes. I know I did. But it's actually not expensive, at least not like I thought it would be. Though the store has the oddest layout and I feel as though I have to wander in zig-zags to find what I want, I always end up finding more that way. That may be the reason they laid it out the way they did, but it only really becomes bothersome if I'm in a hurry. One tip about Waitrose: if you go to the butcher counter around, say, 6pm, you'll get some nice cuts of meat at discounted prices. Like 2 thick-cut sirloins for £4. Also, if you're looking for Biscquick, they have it here too, as well as a few different types of maple syrup; something my North American friends will appreciate. Equally handy is the 'gluten-free' aisle, which I never thought I'd have to use until my friend confessed a few days before a dinner party I was hosting. I found a very nice selection of gluten and wheat free biscuits there, which I doubt I could have found as easily anywhere else. Wanna know some other news? They also have quail eggs, if you're looking for something exotic. And soon, maybe, to be selling ostrich eggs as well. Definitely try the apple sausages; but you'll have to get them quickly, as they sell out in a jiffy! read more

Waitrose is evil - I go in for bread and spuds and walk out with bread, spuds, houmous, chilli sauce, truffles, elderflower juice, frozen pain au chocolat and some fruit tea. This is the main reason why Waitrose costs so much, everything looks so nice and yummy that you cant just go in for the essentials, you have to leave with a little treat for yourself. The 'its Wednesday but I've had a bad day lets get a cheap £5 or under bottle of vino' selection is a bit small, but you can get a nice bottle for under a fiver here, not as much as in Tescos down the road but they are still there. Getting Waitrose essentials isnt the same as getting the 'value' range anywhere else, the quality as good as the premium ranges elsewhere. A Waitrose essentials spud makes amazing roast potatoes. A big shop will cost you a fair bit, but food is going up everywhere peeps, and the food will last you a bit longer as its a bit fresher. This makes food shopping into a little adventure, and yes I will still buy my frozen chips from iceland and my 3 for £10 meat from Tesco but you can get a great deal worse than Waitrose. read more

This is the first supermarket I ever visited in Scotland. I have to say that I'm throughly impressed with what they have to offer. The spinach and beet falafels are so addicting and now I want to try all their different flavours. They also have a decent variety of home items (paper goods and baby food). If you need a bit more things I would recommend this supermarket over Marks & Spencer. read more

Waitrose Byres Road, is a great little supermarket for picking up bits and bobs that you would normally expect to have to visit a superstore to find. Its also great if your not a big eater and want to make a more tapas style meal for yourself and don't want to buy tons of food to do that, or having friends around for a bite a healthy to eat. I find its not really that more expensive than the other supermarkets and they definitely stock food of a higher quality. read more

My fave supermarket? Nice staff and if you go at the right time, a bargain or two to be found. Also they sell John Lewis socks and tights

I'm giving this 5 stars based on the friendly staff and cleanliness of this place. Is it just me or does anyone think they are charging too much for things? They must get a lot of business being so close to the Hilton hotel. Even though I think it's over priced, maybe because I'm a cheapo. I do like a good Supermarket browse. After a wee West End day out, my boyfriend and I came here for a look. I realise that makes us sound sad and old, but we kind of are (sad that is, not old) It is a big one, and even had those little self hand scanners that you can take around the store with you. That made my day really. I am pretty easily pleased in fairness. I enjoyed checking out the fancier groceries that I may buy once I am a millionaire. Caviar, expensive fish and meats and £200 bottles of champagne, which to my horror were on actual shelves next to £10 bottles of Cava! I was freaking out in case I knocked them over. On the pricey side, but this is in the West End after all! read more
