This was our third (and final) visit to this store in three days. We are America men in our 50s, well dressed and courteous with ample funds to spend. I am white and my husband is Filipino. We were walking around Oundle and decided to get a little treat. I am in procurement in the States, and I enjoy looking at markets whenever we travel. I am always mindful of serious shoppers and most always make a more-than-nominal purchase. I genuinely get excited about differing selections and packaging. On today's visit we were followed by a (presumed) security employee. The manager was well-positioned at the front of the store, and there appeared to be some poor attempt at a stealth surveillance. We were not carrying any bags, and our clothing (no jackets) would not allow for any concealment of wares. Not only is this patrol stupid (from a common sense perspective), it's a genuine waste of the company's resources. The security detail makes a foolish attempt to canvass presentable customers, but does so poorly that a genuine thief would be easily tipped-off of the action.
*shakes head*
This town appears to be dying; you'd think they'd welcome anyone with ample funds to waste. read more
