She was the first vendor we ever booked, and she is worth every penny and so much more. A month after we got engaged, my fiancé and I decided to try and visit some venues. After visiting seven wedding venues in two days and driving a total of 8 hours back and forth, we decided we can't do this alone, and needed a wedding planner. We chose Janice because of her exceptional background experience and her willingness to customize a package that fit our needs and our budget. Janice is very professional, responds to emails very quickly, which was very important to me, and she's just fun and easy to work with. Janice started us off with a checklist every month that listed things that we should and need to do. Janice helped us find a beautiful venue that fit our required parameters. Without Janice's help, it would be highly unlikely that we would have found Half Moon Bay Golf Links as a venue. It was perfect in the fact that it was by the ocean, had a beautiful backdrop of the Ritz Carlton, and the menu served steak and lobster, which was a must! Not only did Janice help us secure a venue, she also helped us find a DJ and when we decided last minute that we wanted a videographer, she tapped into her extensive network to give us some options within our price range. Janice helped us review all contracts we signed with other vendor which was super helpful because sometimes we would miss details that we would want clarified within the contract. She also negotiated rates on our behalf and saved us thousands of dollars, literally. Janice always had our best interest in mind. Janice was always on top of things and super responsive over emails. We did almost all of our correspondences over email. We met with Janice for the first time during our menu tasting at our venue. She came prepared and full of questions for the venue and took copious notes. After the meeting she followed up with the venue coordinator to nail down the details. Janice sent us a template of a minute-by-minute timeline that served as a way to organized and plan our wedding day. When she first sent it to us, it was one and a half pages. She mentioned that by the time the wedding rolled around, the document would be 10+ pages. It was hard to imagine at first, because we thought how much more details could there possibly be? Little did we know that as we planned and organized our day and all the logistics, the document ended up to be 17 pages long! It literally was a minute by minute break down of our wedding day. We shared it with our family and friends and everyone knew exactly what was going on and when. The father of the bride was so impressed with Janice's professionalism. Our wedding day was a great success and everything went off without a hitch, at least that is how we saw things. If anything did go awry or a miss, we didn't know about it and that was because Janice was on top of everything! She made sure everything and everyone was where they were supposed to be and that our day was flawless. We had many friends come up to us during the reception asking for Janice's contact info, they were all equally amazed by the wonderful work she does. Without Janice, we would not have been able to enjoy our wedding and just be present in the moment. Even after the wedding, Janice sent a friendly email reminding us of things we should take care of, like sending in the marriage certificate and little details on the gifts and cards that people had given us on the day. We live in NY but wed in San Francisco and both of us worked way too much to plan a destination wedding, so she definitely didn't have an easy task. I figured - if she responds right away, she'll be on top of things, and if she can handle NYC corporate events, she can pretty much handle anything. Janice definitely didn't disappoint and was AMAAAZING! Her minute by minute timeline is enough to hire her on the spot. Our vendors and wedding party were really impressed. If there were any hiccups during our wedding, I had no idea about them because she handled everything with grace and kept us both super relaxed throughout the day. Our family and friends also LOVED her and thought she was the best wedding coordinator they've ever seen and have been recommending her left and right. Caveat: We didn't use Schumann's for our wedding. I'm only basing this review on our tasting…read more Schumann's gave us a big list of dishes on various sample menus to choose from before the tasting. We had tried some of their food before at a Brazilian Room bridal fair like onion puffs, and thought they were good but not amazing (GBNA), and wanted to try some new stuff. They served us many of the apps we suggested as well as the onion puffs. At first I was disappointed to seem the ol' onion puffs, but then I realized why they push them so much. They were by far the best appetizer. That's when I realized - there's a reason caterers push certain dishes. Schumann's let us try several appetizers. The curried chicken triangles had too much puffed pastry. The chicken satay was served cold, and overlooking the fact that the meat was still only okay, not nearly as good as what you could get in a restaurant. The accompanying dipping sauce was terrible and tasted like peanut butter instead of a peanut sauce. (We had tried the chicken satay at Ann Walker Catering two weeks before and this paled by comparison). The bruschetta suffered from out of season tomatoes, so as a result it was hard to judge. (But really they shouldn't have served it to us.) The appetizers we liked the most were the curried carrot soup shots. They were GBNA, but we thought they would be fun to serve at the reception. The boyfriend liked the ahi tuna on crostini, but I thought it was only fair to middling. The mushrooms stuffed with pine nuts and pesto were my favorite. And of course the onion puffs shined after the poor showing of the satay, chicken curry triangles, and bruschetta. The best dish we tried by far was the spring greens with candied pecans and pears. It was one of the best salads I've ever had. Even the boyfriend who isn't a big salad fan and doesn't like salad dressing, liked the salad and dressing. The caprese salad of tomato, fresh mozarella, and lettuce was only okay. Again, the tomatoes were out of season, and I don't think there was any basil to punch up the flavors. We also tried sides of asparagus spears, saffron risotto, and broccoli with pinenuts. Of these, the asparagus spears were the only ones worthy of continuing on to our potential wedding menu. The entrees were unimpressive. The seabass with fruit salsa and chicken in a mushroom wine sauce both tasted like bad hotel food. While tasting the food, one word kept popping into my head: "amateurish." That's how I felt about many of the dishes - especially the unfortunate appetizers. And I wanted a caterer where I felt I would pay for their food if they had a restaurant. I did not feel this way about Schumann's. The brothers Schumann are super nice. The tasting is in their office which is super cluttered with books and papers on every piece of furniture. They offer some of the lowest prices for catering around. We're super into food and dining out, so we weren't as impressed with the food, but for a bride who's trying to save a buck this is a good option. And I've seen many good reviews for them online.

We do not have to pay for chinaware and forks, no corkage fee, we provide the drinks, he provides the bar tender, no cake cutting fee and we pay the servers, linens and the food. Our event is not as simple as any other wedding. We had to add ethnic food to our menu, and Al is very flexible with it. As the event comes close, we have to cut some of our expenses and Al does not really mind us doing this. 2 weeks before the wedding, we met at the hall where I will have my ceremony and reception. We had a very stict time guideline and we will need the servers to convert the hall from ceremony to reception, while taking care of the hors'd erves and serving the guest. We almost thought Al will not agree to the time frame we provided him, but to our surprise he said it is difficult but is possible. He is flexible and is willing to work with us every single time. He let us be in charge of our own wedding, and he did the best that he can to provide us with a very good service. We asked for a tasting, and we love the food that was served to us esp. that wrapped artichoke hearts. Al is very warm and easy to work with. With our budget, I think we got a steal.. Food, service and the touch of class he provided is very much appreciated.
