They don't have the maintenance of a parking lot, which I can say that's a big plus in Walgreens market, they seem to not maintain those well enough. They do have security inside. Of course people will stop you outside the door "you got any change". It's the charm of this downtown loop location. I'm very impressed with how nicely this Walgreens is. The 6121 N Broadway store is on the short list of pharmacies that my insurance states must be used. I have always had a good experience and attentive staff...until recently. Big staff turnover. Understaffed. Prescription refills can take a week and the store appears not to stock even the most common drugs. I question what would happen if a drug, like an antibiotic was needed immediatly? During my most recent prescription pickup, I was waited on by the rudest, entitled and disrespectful individual. I asked a simple question about a drug pricing and was met with shocking hostility and "attitude". I question why Walgreens, even tho it is now owned by private equity, would want this type of situation or employee to represent their store This experience and the long wait time for refills to be ready, makes me strongly consider moving my prescriptions to Mariano's read more

Still my favorite Walgreens. Always so organized and such a friendly staff. Came to grab a prescription but I continue to forget the pharmacy doesn't open till 9a. Unless there are issues preventing me from getting off on time, I am usually done by 8:30a and will just walk on over. Fifteen minutes may not seem like a long time to and add to a basket you never intended to get. Being a favorite store means you know where everything is. Wow, kuhrazy that I reviewed this exact Walgreens NINE years ago. I thought I was cool now, but turns out I've been cool this whole time! I found myself on State & Lake to reminisce the days I used to take the El here, & show my mother the Chicago theatre. Then... I noticed this Walgreens. I was like "MOM, I used to be there until midnight hanging out in the makeup section!" This did not horrify my mother at all. . . Why do none of the Walgreens locations in any other city I've visited have a second floor devoted to beauty & souvenirs?! Before u hit up a Chicago souvenir shop, come here or any of the Walgreens locations in the Loop or Near North neighborhoods bc the items are much more affordable: shirts, hoodies, baseball caps, magnets, mugs, cups, shot glasses, bags/wallets, etc. The escalator up to the top floor brings you to souvenirs, pain management/vitamins/flu remedies/etc, & beauty. They have the No.7 brand which is an incredible brand I found (in this very Walgreens!!!) that has long-lasting lip colour, excellent face care & moisturizers, & more. They also have an aisle of NYX which has long-lasting lip colour as well & a variety of face make-up. What I love most about Walgreens is their sales. The items I purchased were all $4-6 off. I think you have to register with your phone number to get the discount but registering is very simple. Can't believe I was here nine years ago. Time flies, but Walgreens is eternal... ALSO. In town for a business trip and needed some meds. This location was just down the street so conveniently located. It is a large store with ample products and the employees that I encountered were friendly and helpful. Meds are on the second floor and many are behind glass so require assistance. Purchased Walgreens mouthwash which is a generic version of Listerine. I have purchased it before with no problems. This tasted spoiled - not something I'd gargle with! It's concerning. I called the number on the back of the bottle for "questions or comments". Got a Bot which gave no options to speak to someone and give comments. I wish that I could give the Walgreens at 3000 S. Halsted a minus 1 review due to the woeful ineptness of the management and staff. The Walgreens pharmacy email directed me to retrieve my medications at 12:30 pm on Monday, June 15th. I arrived (not 24 hours later) at 11:10 on June 16th only to be told that the medications were reshelved because I didn't retrieve them on time and that I would need to wait an hour for my refill. The young lady heard me complain about my frustration about their error and told me to "have a nice day", which I found to be utterly patronizing and insulting. As of today I will shop my business elsewhere to avoid having to deal with a pharmacy that has inept management and which evidently finds my business as unimportant. read more

Fantastic Customer Service! A few weeks ago I went there looking for hand sanitizer that I could attach to my purse. The cashier came from behind the counter to show me where they were located in the store! Thank you! Lines move quickly as they are used to high volume. AWESOME SALADS- My favorite is the Turkey, Ham, and Cheese Chef Salad with the Ranch Dressing packet that is on the bottom of the salad and is enough to coat the salad perfectly! Huge portion for less than $5.00. Many salads to choose from too: Southwest Salad, Caesar Salad, and many others as well as vegetable and dip trays for snacking. Really healthy options. read more

Man I went into this Walgreens and was mad as hell! Why is this not in my neighborhood??? For a downtown location, this place has it all...cheese section, sushi bar, fresh fruit/sandwiches and a booze section to satisfy all price ranges. They even have Hawaiian rolls so I can eat my leftover pate and cheese. Staff was super friendly. Because I had never been in a Walgreen's like this, I was just wandering around, all wide eye. Three different people stopped to to ask me if I needed any assistance locating an item. On the flip side, you are paying downtown prices, but that is not an issue for me. So this is one of those odd stores that straddles the line between luxury and at-risk. There are 2 entrance/exits, and that makes checkout easy but at times the back door is not open! I think because the Red Line (Blood stream) is so close, it's a magnet for thieves and pan handlers. The location is also to appeal to business people and tourists. I came in unexpectedly, on a rainy Sat early evening (7:45) and within 45 seconds I heard a commotion and saw 2 men running out like they were on fire! The 2nd larger guy was prob security. The other guy got away, narrowly missing moving cars State street. Also within minutes I was asked for spare change. That's a slippery slope for downtown: there is a counter in the front for eating the ready-to-eat food, but most of the time 'stragglers' are seated there out of the weather(this is my assumption, I'm not in marketing). Security wants to keep the store 'approachable' but not hassle people. I like browsing this store for the upstairs level and spaciousness but REALLY I go for the Redbox rentals! It's hard to find Redbox in the Loop. This one has only 1 but it's a decent one. It's a brand new year, and Walgreens just made its resolution: kick ass on all of its previous store incarnations and take no prisoners. This bright, two-story W's shines like an airy glass beacon at State and Randolph, and is even open late! (10pm) Waiting for a movie across the street the week this place opened, I could not stop myself from going in, as the huge wine selection was being christened by the Wine Channel, and also with tastings by the Ravenswood winery, complete with its founder in attendance! On the tasting menu were specialty Ravenswood reds that this Walgreens sells for $35/bottle, and also being tasted was the "black" variety at $80/bottle. Plenty of affordable wines and liquors are sold on the first floor, a perfect pop-in place before hitting up Millennium Park summer concerts! On the Randolph Street entrance on the first floor is a sushi bar, with a sushi chef and the offerings looked awesome. Sushi! At Walgreens! There's a juice bar, and also an indoor REDBOX machine, and organic veggies. Heading upstairs is the pharmacy, cosmetics, and the largest selection of 2 oz. travel sizes I have ever seen! Including my favorite face wash, which I've never even seen sold in travel size before this Walgreens. An exclusive! Service here was excellent! Associates standing all around. But maybe that was just opening week. Still, this place definitely has an air of a new upscale store model, and better service at W's is always welcome! A Walgreens with two levels, stocked with tons of wine bottles, specialty/artisan cheeses, fresh fruits/juices, bakery with cakes, sandwiches, bread rolls/focaccia bread, sushi (freshly made), a specific newspaper section, photo area, a redbox machine, a fro-yo (frozen yogurt) machine, phone/phone card area, chips, salsa, drinks galore, and thats just the first level! The second level has all the makeup (looked like Sephora), pharmacy (its huge), personal care, gifts/cards, and other personal effect stuff. Did I mention they also have a nail station for manicures? Only $10 too! Walgreens has really outdone itself with this store. They definitely catered to the downtown crowd. During the grand opening they were giving out free samples of their vegetable and shrimp gzoya (dumplings). Delicious! I purchased a box of their sushi volcano and it was also delicious! The lines here can be long, but dont worry, they have SEVEN check out stands not including the stand near the photo area where you can also check out if there is a cashier there!! A PRESCRIPTION FOR CONVENIENCE The line between drug store and convenience store is getting thin. This Walgreens that according to the sign has been serving Randolph and State Street since 1926 is the bellwether to the drug store of the future. Living in Vegas I have seen the modern state-of-the-art Walgreens that have gone up the last couple years. They make the drug store as we know it outdated. Now when I stepped foot in this Walgreens I felt like I was in Tomorrow Land looking at the drug store of the future. Immediately after stepping on Walgreen's salesfloor I saw a sushi bar. What?! The sushi bar was one piece of the Up Market. In this drug store of the future, the majority of the ground level is the Up Market. The Up Market is a grocery store, wine and spirits shop, cafe, and convenience store. There is the Coke beverage machine featuring the 100s plus Coke beverages next to a slushy machine. Nearby they sell the convenience lunches. Upstairs is the Downtown Living, Well, and Living Boutique. This is the typical Walgreens departments done up in a modern presentation. Downtown Living is the general merchandise including stationary and candles. The Well department is the health & beauty aids, pharmacy, and health clinic. Living Boutique is the cosmetics section. The employees were friendly. When we were walking the salesfloor, the friendly woman representing Walgreens told us this is the first Walgreens. She was wrong but I appreciated her enthusiasm. The pharmacist was also friendly. He told us that the first Walgreens is on Bowen Road in South Chicago. I will not forget the time I spent inside the drug store of the future. After giving them 4 hours to fill a basic prescription they didn't have ready. Waited till someone came it to tell us they don't have that medication. Couldn't call around to find a store with it in stock because "I am going to lunch". Was more worried about his lunch then helping find a solution after 4 hours to fill a prescription and not even letting us know there is an issue. As a tourist staying in the Loop I really found this large two-story Walgreens to be a convenient place for drinks, snacks and forgotten toiletries. They even sell some prepared foods and booze in addition to the usual drug store stuff like makeup, greeting cards and medicine. They had souvenirs as well. This Walgreens is like a mullet...business up top, party downstairs! What I mean by this is that, like the Duane Reade's in NYC (which Walgreens bought), the downstairs is like a mini-grocery store. The upstairs has all your drugstore stuff. The supplies of food are extensive! Lines move pretty fast and the cashiers at the register near the booze are particularly friendly. There are enough cashiers to where the lines aren't too bad and enough employees on the floor to where I can always find someone. It's two stories, so all the groceries are downstairs and the personal care (and pharmacy) are upstairs. I can spend a good lunch hour just looking around the store. read more

Fantastic Walgreens! There are two floors of goods for most of my needs- I really only visit the first floor because that's where the redbox & groceries are located. This Walgreens has everything you need. It's got snacks, lunch, sushi, clean restroom. You have a head ache they have the typical pharmacy and over the counter drugs. You need to pick up make up there is a huge section for that. Oh and wow if you need a bottle of wine no problem it's got there too! This Walgreens has it all and then some. So the brand new "upscale/boutique" Walgreens had their grand opening this morning. It happened to be on my way to an appointment, and I had a few minutes to kill. Um, whoa. It's rather...overwhelming. Since when did drugstores become full service? There's a sushi bar, a juice bar, an extensive wine and liquor selection, and even one of those coke machines with 100 flavor options. The downstairs has almost a Trader Joes/Whole Foods feel, with an pretty legit grocery selection. Upstairs, you have your standard Walgreens drugstore, though there appears to be some sort of cosmetic counter comparable to a Sephora. Perhaps because it was a grand opening, but sharply dressed employees were everywhere, greeting you and offering to help. I'm not sure if that's what I want from a drugstore, especially if I'm looking to pick up tampons or Pepto or a box of Milk Duds. But hey, it's an interesting concept. read more

Placed an online order for same-day delivery from my neighborhood store at 2500 N Clark in Chicago. I have done this before and it was great. Today is dreadful. Just Before hitting the 'place order' button I saw that it said 'contactless delivery'. What does that mean these days? I can barely walk now and cannot get downstairs to meet them at my street door so I wanted to find out if they can bring it to my second floor apt. After 45 minutes on the phone and being cut off at least twice, I still don't know, but that's more than anyone at Walgreen's Customer Service knows. Finally got a very pleasant young woman who was going to connect me with Walgreens complaint number. What I got instead was a 'survey' about my satisfaction and then cut off. Do not order same-day delivery from 2500 N Clark in Chicago. Shop in person. Their web site is a hot mess. I will never, ever deal with them again. Horrible experience. I had an appointment at the Advocate clinic at Walgreens. They sent me a confirmation email in the afternoon and I clicked the link to get signed in early online. Then I got there 15 minutes early and had to sign in at the kiosk again. After waiting 30 minutes I realized no one was even there. I ask the pharmacy and they were barely helpful, saying they didn't have anything to do with the clinic. Finally after asking several times and being told incorrectly that I must have been late, the pharmacist finally decided to help me and gave me a number to call (because the one listed on the door is no longer operational). I called the number and found out the clinic closed early because they couldn't find a worker to operate the clinic and my appointment was canceled even though they emailed me a confirmation and the system let me sign in. So huge waste of my time. I'd say this clinic is not ready for prime time. I feel zero confidence in their professionalism and the quality of the workers if they just don't show up for work like it's a Taco Bell or Dollar Tree. I'll never go back. read more

Unbelievable......... this place is HUGE. Every time I come here I still can't believe it's a Walgreens, it's so nice and so big. On the main flood, they have a great alcohol selection, mini food mart with fresh juices, frozen yogurt and yes Sushi. I was reluctant at first to get sushi from a place like Walgreens but it is GOOD! I really love their Crunch Dragon Roll and have tried and loved multiple other sushi rolls.
