I recently had a large protuberance removed from my scalp by Dr. Proctor at Eastern Dermatology in New Bern. I found Dr. Proctor to be skillful and caring, a combination missing in many surgeons today. A concern was that the area removed would be so large it would be difficult to stretch the skin for sutures. During surgery the doctor frequently asked how I was doing, and after surgery he left a recorded message expressing concern for my pain level and suggested actions I should take if there were complications. It has been five days since surgery and amazingly my pain level never exceeded 3 out of 10, and for the most part it was 0 or 1. My wife, a retired nurse tells me that the area is healing nicely. An experience I had dreaded turned out be not so bad, thanks to Dr. Proctor.
