To my surprise, they offered to get me in that day! I wasn't able to accept the appointment that day due to living over an hour away, but they did get me in the very next day. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Dr. Kirk was very friendly as well! I had to have an in-office procedure, in which he had to lance my face... with a scalpel! Sounds WAY frightening right!? Not at all!! He made me feel very comfortable and calm during the entire procedure. This stuff has been around forever...I know this because I used it when I was in middle school - eons ago. My football helmet would leave a series of pimples centered on my forehead and on my chin underneath my chin guard. Anyway, the stuff works. And, there is only one place to get it: Merle Norman. Not to be condescending, but I was shocked to find that this place still had a shop in the local mall; I mean, I don't hear the kids talking about how rad Merle Norman is. Regardless, on my Saturday runs, I swung by to pick up a tube for my kid. There was only one person working when I arrived. She was busying herself with something underneath a cabinet and when I cleared my throat and said, "excuse me," I think I scared the hell out of her. I don't know if it was the extraordinary beard or the fact I am covered in tattoos, or if I was just the first - possibly only male - customer of the day, but I got the sense I am not the average demographic of customer they are used to. I explain to her what I was looking for, and she scrambled around to find it. She was extremely nervous. I tried to make small talk to put her at ease, explaining my history with the product and I was introducing it to the next generation. No matter what I said, I think it just made things worse. She fumbled to find some chapstick to give me as a free gift, she dropped the items trying to bag them, and she forgot to give me my change. Again, very kind, just extraordinarily nervous. On my next visit, I will send my daughter in with the credit card to save anyone the possibility of a breakdown. By the by - the pimple is history.
