I used to really like this shop, until last year. It was the sort of place that was not much more…read morethan a pound shop, but it had more choice and more goods. Now, however, its been taken over, or passed to a new generation within the same family of business owners, I'm not sure which - it does, at least, still feel like a family business. But the price range has gone up, markedly so. It still sells wooden hangers, for instance - but now they're £1.99 for two. Only two! They sell the size of bubble wrapped envelopes used to post CDs in the mail - but they're £2 for 5. I was appalled, and found them 25% cheaper down the road - at Ryman's, of all places, which tells you how expensive this place now is. There are some more expensive home electronics type goods, but only someone who was trapped by ill-health and age to shop very locally would buy them. Not a recommended shop, sadly.

Today I just bought some glue (98p) but tomorrow, it could be anything; light bulbs, sewing kits, underwear, colouring pencils, cooking pots, you name it, they've got it (for 98p). There's not really much else to say. The shop is clean, well laid out and the biggest bargain centre in Dalston, which is saying a lot. Rumour has it that somewhere in London there is a 97p store, but even if it does exist, in all honesty, I think that anything under 98p is probably just going to be poor quality.
