Before contacting Tradition, I received an estimate from one of "those" kind of roofing companies - You know the type, the ones that come by and leave a business card if your door and when you ask them to check out your roof they, of course, say you need and entirely new roof. When Scott Landa (who, in the interest of full disclosure, is the husband of a former coworker) came out to take a look at my roof he had an entirely different, and thankfully less expensive, opinion. After a quick repair, Scott was able to fix the area of my roof that I was concerned about. As he was leaving, I asked if I needed a new roof. Scott's answer was no. I not only appreciated Scott's professionalism, but also his honesty. I'm sure he would have loved to put an entirely new roof on my home, but it wasn't needed and he was able to accurately assess the situation and didn't rip me off. When the time comes that I do need a new roof, I'll be giving Tradition Roofing and Exteriors a call.

I was looking for a small to mid sized company that had an owner that was actively involved, and had a small crew and knew what they were doing. I am VERY HAPPY I found Tonka Roofing since they exceeded every expectation I had and did a great job! I was told several times the job was sufficient but…read morewhen I finally got a second person to come look at the gutter that was falling off after 3 months, I had him look at the windows. He said they looked like they were "wrapped by my 4 year old grandkid." There was a leak on my porch roof twice during and right after construction and was told to move the A/C out of that window. They had me work with a door installer who told me box store doors were cheap and he doesn't install them but when it came time to install the door they gave me a cheap one from Menards that wouldn't lock. The person who installed it told me to go buy a new spring and lock for it. They left the siding around the door cut unevenly and unpainted and said they would come back for that and to install a new lock. I gave up on arguing over the cheap door. They never came back. They left garbage on my lawn twice and killed a bunch of my plants that never grew back. I got one B.S. line after another. They did fix some things after I pushed but didn't follow through on the rest. Really disappointed.

My biggest compliment is in the clean up. I have dealt with similar situations in the past and these guys are by far the best at making sure they don't leave anything behind. After the regular crew cleans up and they did outstanding. A second couple comes through with a fine tooth comb and goes through the grass, sidewalks, street and driveway to ensure there is not any trace of their presence left. All of the roofing companies were quite busy due to recent storm damage. Some didn't return calls, and we even had a couple no-show on scheduled estimates. Matt K, in contrast, was extremely responsive and reliable. We left a message on a weekend, and he called back that same weekend, and scheduled a time for an estimate within a few days. He came for the estimate at the appointed time, and promptly emailed us a detailed, thorough, and competitive bid. He then answered all of our questions thoroughly and knowledgeably about the proposed work and process. Matt was easy to talk with, explained about roofing in terms that we could readily understand, did not up-sell, and provided honest evaluations and recommendations from his decades of roofing experience. Shortly after that, while we were still evaluating our options, we had a leak concern. In response, Matt was able to juggle schedules to fit our replacement in quickly. His crew (led by Brendan), was efficient and careful, and were able to complete the tear-off and replacement in a day, even though winds reached up to 20 mph some of the time. They also left our property neat and tidy. Someone who saw them work told me that he would without reservation "heavily suggest using them again!!!" (His three exclamation marks, not mine).
