I really got into tours of my city during Covid so I know that I wanted to take part in one when visiting my buddy in Austin. I had very high expectations and they were met by far. Our tour guide was outstanding and a great storyteller. I also liked how much she adjusted the stories for the whole group and could tell what the group liked and didn't like. The only thing I wished was that there was more inside exploring. What I mean is that we didn't get to go into most of the buildings, but some of that was made up by the awesome seating and storytelling in the Driskill hotel! Booked thru Viator, had a digital ticket. Picked an evening tour, which was great for ghost story telling. Hank was our tour guide. He was so enthusiastic telling the stories of Austin. The Driskill is the highlight and I'm glad I wasn't staying there after hearing the creepy stories. Great balance of walking, humor and goosebumps. Picture a mid-morning stroll through the streets of downtown Austin with a great cup of coffee in hand. Clearly, you know what gets us moving in the morning. Luckily, the tour start time wasn't too early (10 AM) as we met in downtown Austin in front of a quaint coffee shop. After ordering 2 cups to go, we were ready to join Walking Tours of Austin for a 90 minute guided tour. One of the standout spots we visited was the Driskill Hotel, where we went inside to see its stunning lobby and Christmas decorations. The Driskill is not only one of Austin's grandest hotels it's also considered one of Austin's most haunted spots. It was beautiful but my partner was especially happy to know we wouldn't be staying here on this trip. But who knows, maybe one day we'll decide to live out our ghostbuster dreams? Okay, probably not. My partner can barely tolerate a scary movie trailer let alone a haunted hotel. Morning tours start at $20 per person. read more

Great for out of towners but also really fun for austinites. We went on the ghost walk with Dan as our guide. We learned so much about the history of Austin and Dan was such a great story teller that we got goose bump in almost every one of his stories. What I loved about Dan is that he has added so much to the tour because he's met some people who have had their own experiences with ghosts or paranormal activity in Austin and he adds all those stories to his tour. This was absolutely a great way to spend an evening in Austin. Awesome walk Daughter and I did the Murder Walk Austin. It was excellent. She got the most out of it. But I was intrigued by the story telling, it has some interesting conclusions to draw on in the end. Tour Guide was very friendly and kept the conversations flowing the whole time we walked. We did the Ghost Walk on a Thursday night from 8-9:30pm. It was dark out which was the perfect setting to hear ghost stories as we walked the city. We walked about 1.5 miles in total and stopped at specific buildings like the Driskill Hotel and Speakeasy (a bar), both of which we toured inside of too. Hank was our tour guide and did a great job. He told stories in a dynamic matter and made sure every person was engaged. This was a fantastic experience and would recommend it to anyone! read more

We did the Murder Walk tour last night and it was fantastic! My husband and I are both locals in Austin, had heard about this series of murders (because I'm a true crime junkie) and decided this would be a fun/different thing to do on a Saturday night. Jim was our tour guide and he is incredibly knowledgeable and entertaining! He gave us very detailed accounts of the murders that took place in 1885, along with many fun and interesting facts about Austin's architecture, people and history. He was able to answer all questions the group had for him. The tour is 105 minutes, with a stop for drinks at The Driskill (where you also may be told a good ghost story). If you're into the darker side of history and enjoy being thoroughly entertained, I HIGHLY recommend this tour, and this tour company in gegeneral! read more

Based on the reviews I think this is really "Haunted Austin Walking History Tour" which is what we did. My wife and I love doing these sorts of tours because it is a fun way to learn some great local history. We were very disappointed in this tour. Our tour guide was a very nice, personable British woman. The first story was just a ghost story only a few years old. Most of the tour is spent talking about, and seeing the Driskill. She told us of a jilted bride who committed suicide in 1991. Trying to get more history after the tour there was several interesting suicide bride stories about the hotel way in the but nothing about her story. Yes, I know ghosts are real but usually you get some interesting history. She then did tell us an interesting story about America's first serial killer and a possible link to Jack the Ripper. But by that time our interest was waning. Note that with the raucous Austin street scene it can often be hard to hear the tour guide. read more

Had a great time on a date night with my Mister. He surprised me by getting us tickets to Jim's tour about the serial killer in Austin in 1885. Jim was a great guide. Set the pace well, super friendly, kept the group all together. It was a Friday night tour, partially around 6th street, and Jim showed some awesome skills with crowd (non-tour) management.
