I am writing this to bring attention to a serious scam that occurred inside your Walmart 24h store in Cancun. During my visit, a man named Mike, wearing a Walmart name tag, approached us inside the store and offered what he claimed was an official Walmart promotion: * 6 round-trip ferry tickets to Isla Mujeres * A full-day golf cart rental * Lunch on the island * Hotel pickup All for USD $120, with a $30 deposit. He repeatedly assured us that he worked for Walmart, not any resort, and that it was NOT a timeshare sales pitch. However, later that night he messaged us saying the pickup would be changed to 8:00 AM so he could take us to another resort for breakfast -- something we never agreed to. When we insisted on sticking to the original 9:30 AM plan, he showed up the next morning and again pressured us to go to the resort to attend a 1.5-hour presentation, which was obviously a timeshare scheme. When we refused, he told us the trip was canceled and that our $30 deposit was being kept by his "boss." He then claimed we would have to return to Walmart to get it back. Before we could even discuss it further, he jumped onto a bus and disappeared. This was misrepresentation, dishonesty, and a clear scam -- all happening inside Walmart premises, by someone wearing a Walmart name badge. I am requesting: 1. Walmart Cancun to investigate how scammers are operating inside your store while appearing to be legitimate staff. 2. The resort involved to take responsibility for using deceptive tactics to lure tourists into timeshare presentations. 3. A refund of the $30 deposit that was taken under false pretenses. 4. Measures to ensure this does not happen to other visitors. Tourists should feel safe inside a well-known retailer like Walmart -- not targeted by scammers pretending to be staff. This Walmart Cancún provides travel service around checkout area, salespeople are having Walmart employee card. I paid $50 in cash to visit tafer resort then go to isla mujeres. The salesman said it's total refundable. Due to my husband got covid, we have to cancel the trip. The salesman said in order to get the refund I have to go to the tafer resort and tafer resort said they don't have the deposit. I won't make the reservation if it's not inside of Walmart. Walmart is one of my favorite stores to begin with so going to one in Mexico was great! I know quite a bit of Spanish so I enjoyed seeing all of the typical Walmart products with Spanish signs and labels. I could have spent all day in here. They had a ton of wonderful souvenirs and anything you could possibly need for the beach. read more

In the beach capital of Mexico, this Walmart has a pathetic selection of Beach stuff. Absolutely no beach shoes in sizes larger than 25 Mexican. also, there is no signage explaining the entrance and the exit. I appreciate that they are controlling the flow for covid-19 safety, but dozens of people parading across the parking lot for the entrance, only to learn that it is the exit, is ridiculous. All they would need is a couple of signs. read more

This Walmart is located in Downtown Cancun right on a main road, so it's easy to get to. The store is more of a supermarket than anything, but like you'd expect from Walmart, you can find just about anything else here too. They even had Vespa-style mopeds for sale. The store is well-organized and neat and their prices are excellent. If you need to do some grocery shopping while in Cancun, this would be my first recommendation. read more

I was pleasantly surprised to happen upon a Walmart in Cancun! But I guess I shouldn't be that surprised, since they are a very popular store, and why shouldn't they be in Mexico? It is pretty average as Walmarts go, offering a little bit of everything at mostly low prices. And of course, Walmarts seem to have a knack of being conveniently located in just about every neighborhood. When it comes to saving money, shopping here became a necessity because many of us have few choices when on a tight budget. The vitamin and herbal remedies aisle was the most disappointing since I couldn't find any of the products I normally use. But I was happy to utilize the pharmacy without having to have a prescription for Retin-A for way cheaper than local pharmacies! We also needed to get some Diazepam because Joe was having a lot of discomfort and unable to sleep after extensive dental work. They did require a prescription for this however, but they actually have a doctor on staff for a consultation for only $15.00! Then he was able to write a script for us. Unfortunately, when we turned in the written prescription at the counter they were out of stock! Maybe they should have checked their supply before referring him to the doctor!!! Even in Mexico the staff at Walmart is friendly and helpful. The store was well stocked and clean. The only downside to this location was the outside parking was limited and you need to bring your own bags because they don't have free plastic bags. read more

We skipped out on the tourist attractions while in Cancun but our most down to earth tourist attraction was at Walmart lol. Most importantly, free WiFi. There's also a McDonald's here. And they accept credit card. Wins all around. This Walmart was just as large as any Walmart I have seen in the US. We came here out of curiosity more than anything and ended up picking up way too many souvenirs to count, including magnets, shot glasses and mini sombrero topped hot sauce bottles. They were cheesy and touristy and I loved it. Just like every other Walmart, they've got your produce, bakery, deli, perishables and non perishables. They've got your household items, too. If you want to pick up some items you saw in your hotel convenience store but was scared away by crazy up-charges, Walmart is a great place to stock up. I wanted to check out their liquor aisle to see what local goodies they had back there, but there were Walmart (or maybe salespeople from the liquor brands themselves?) staked out, trying to see you some liquor. It stressed me out, because all I wanted to do was browse. In the end, I walked out without a drop of alcohol, but maybe that was what made walking through customs easier. I perused the hot sauce aisle, as well, as that seemed to be an important part of Mexican culture. I ended up buying a few different brands, but I realized all of them were available in the ethnic sections of grocery stores in Atlanta. Suckered in again... Overall, this Walmart can be similar to most Walmarts I've been to but I found there to be a slight difference in offerings, especially when it comes to souvenirs and knickknacks of the sort. Definitely worth checking out if you're interested in getting a little out of the hotel zone in Cancun. read more

Took a walk in the Cancun heat to get souvenirs. They have every souvenir you need! Much cheaper than the beach or street vendors. Bought snacks for my plane ride. I loved this Walmart! Better than the Walmart's in the States. However, I do wish they'd get the air conditioner all over the store. No one likes to be hot while shopping. read more

Your standard Walmart completely full with Americans, lol. A great trip for tourists that are staying a while and need affordable grocery items and goods for the home. Great Walmart prices too! We were on a family trip and staying in a condo so we were able to pick up small amounts of things such as detergent, stuff for sandwiches, and snack foods. Fruits and veggies were pretty good quality and affordable. There's a KFC and Subway in there but we didn't eat at either. Overall it was a good place to shop, especially if you have rented a car for your vacation. read more

For anyone staying in the Cancun Hotel Zone you can easily get to this Walmart- just take the R2 bus ($1USD RT) and it will get you there! This Walmart is a super Walmart so you will also find groceries here. We did our weekly shopping here as our hotel had a kitchen in it and we weren't staying at an all-inclusive. We got a variety of breakfast and lunch options and some beer/water for the week. A 6pk of Corona here is about $2.5USD so it's definitely worth the trip if your hotel is pricy. I'm not sure if it was a Mexico thing or us being in Walmart, but all of our groceries were SUPER cheap and our total was only around $30USD (we got lunch meat, lettuce, cheese, avocados, bread, 4 gallons of water, 12pk of beer, soda, juice for mixers, chips, yogurt, milk and cereal). TIP: If you are a tourist the local timeshare/excursion people will hunt you down and try to suck you into there sales pitch. They are ready and armed by the entrance and the check-out. If you're not interested, let them know or they will follow you into the store as it's there job to get a sale from you... read more

Oh my goodness. Bless this Walmart near our hotel during our stay (Grand City hotel.) it's literally a 3-5 minute walk from our hotel and we came so unprepared during this trip. They had so so so much to offer! I can't get over how life saver this Walmart was! They had all the toiletries and necessities we needed and the prices were extremely cheap for us. A wise man once told me "EVEN A BLIND PIG FINDS AN ACORN"... This is not the case with Wal-Mart. It took me 15 minutes to find a shopping cart let alone the entrance to this restaurant. Listen here... I'm a Mets fan so I got pretty good intuition. I asked a staff member to help me find where the sports jerseys were and they led me to the baking isle. Who needs 5 different kinds of sugar when you only need one type of salt? No Mets jerseys either... All they had was some team called National and none in XXL size!
