If that doesn't convince you, just look at how much restocking they do while the store is at its busiest. As if it's not hard enough to navigate the aisles, there is always a huge cart in each one that you have to try to get around during peak shopping times. I wasn't aware they made low top Walmarts. It's basically a mixture between Harbor Freight and 7-11. Harbor Freight racks and 7-11 selection and roof height. I am not a claustrophobe, but even CVS's have taller ceilings. if you can't fit 2 carts in an isle it's a problem, you can't just cram more stuff into an already small location. The parking, or dedicated parking is surprisingly small, as is the entrance area. Plenty of space for self check out. Greeters are about as lazy as they come. Not only do you have to initiate the greeting, but even initiate acknowledgement. I get that it's not a pleasant job, but way to make it more like the DMV. Prices are decent, selection is limited and the layout must have been done by the same people that do the city planning for the City of La Mesa. Obviously the typical rules of increasing visibility on sale items don't apply here because your just trying to find your way. I walked half the store just looking for 1 item because stuff is everywhere. They need to also do the demonstrations (a la Costco) in an area that can hold a crowd and not in the busiest corner of the whole place. If Target wasn't as tucked away as it is and Walmart still not the cheapest around I would never come here and it's still highly doubtful I'll be returning. This place still haunts me in my sleep. We were looking for a new steam vac for our carpet. We went to this one since it says online that they had it at that particular store. We decided to call them and double check and the person the phone was a complete moron and couldn't tell us if there was one there and we were transferred to the most random people and even got yelled at by a lady with a really strong southern accent that we're calling the wrong department. EXCUSE ME, LADY! Your idiotic fool of a coworker transferred us to your stupid department! So we drove and made our hike there and I was pretty shock as to what I was in for. I know that personally, Walmart is one of the most successful stores because they hire people who are in their deathbeds so they can be written as the beneficiary, I know because I got my degree in Journalism and this was taught during my Law of the Press class. Anyway, the coworkers looked more handicapped here than any other Walmart I've ever been to. I was rather scared, there was even one guy with a glass eye, but the eye was bulging out of his face. Another associate had a hunchback! I don't mean to be mean, but I was just really freaked out walking through there and I didn't want to believe that this was really happening and that MAYBE they were already dressed for Halloween. So we walk to the houseware section and couldn't find the vacuum, so we decided to ask an employee there. He didn't EVEN KNOW WHAT AN APPLIANCE IS! He replied "appliances? what's that?" But I'm giving it 5 stars because I'm crazy about puppy accessories and they have a huge section dedicated to puppy clothes and other fun items for a great value! In addition to that, they're super super cute! Other nice things: It's by Grossmont Center so you can visit other stores while you're at wal-mart. If I could give this Walmart negative star I would! Mariana stated that she was a customer services manager while she did not even know how to be one! She was very rude and disrespectful. Showing racism right in front of customers! She rolled her eyes and unwilling to assist and help. My cashier literally glared at me and then when I got cash over and asked for two ten dollar bills, she said, "if I have them." I look up to take my receipt and she gave me a twenty. The items in the store are actually pretty good. I used to come her regularly for supplies. For example they had a really inexpensive low grain kitten food, and that's hard to find. And their Danskin workout wear is a good deal and comfortable. Not to mention a pretty large selection of vitamins of all things. BUT, when a store becomes this shopper unfriendly, if not hostile, I start buying the stuff online. And it is a fairly recent thing. I can remember the folks, for example, in the garden dept., being quite helpful and friendly at one time. Somewhere around the holidays I noticed I couldn't take the cart into the rest of the mall, a great inconvenience during holiday shopping, and something Target and Cost plus doesn't alienate customers with. Then I noticed when I went in the evenings, no matter how early, they were stocking for some reason. After being boxed in by snickering stockers and their palettes for the third time, I decided I was too tired for this, threw back what I was about to purchase and left. Worse they had compromised my safety by closing off the entrance to their parking lot, Forcing me to walk all the way around the isolated perimeter of the huge badly lit box store. At least I could take the cart. And then there's the lines, and the miserable employees. . . Is this the only company that gets self-defeatingly cheaper as it gets richer? read more

We placed an order online and we came to pick it up around 12 or 1 and they told us the order is not ready yet and they told us to come back at 3:45, we came back at 3:45 after leaving my work, they come and tell us that the order has been cancelled. The prices are good, but the staff are not willing to help and the lines are too long for my liking. I think it's a smarter decision to walk down to target in Grossmont center which is just on the other end of the mall. The thing is target is only a little more expensive, but you save tons of time. I understand needing to ensure things are not shop lifted but this store is getting ridiculous. A lot of items are locked behind glass so you have to get someone to unlock the case. Then today while taking my purchase to my truck, (shopping cart full ) the cart wheels locked in the middle of the street. I had to walk with my items the rest of the way. This place is always clean and week stocked. The prices seem reasonable and I love the fact that it is a one stop shop for everything. Although that could be a problem as well, I always seem to get way more than what I came on for. The only one compliant I have is with the staff. There are some really friendly go out of their way staff. But there has been plenty of times I can't seem to locate anyone and when I do they act as if I am bothering them and not friendly at all. So I recycled my printer last year and never bothered to replace it. I honestly don't miss it. When I googled Ticketmaster retail locations, I noticed Walmart had the monopoly on this. I took a deep sigh and steeled myself for a trip to the evil entity. Yep, I'm not a fan of Walmart. I won't bother to get into the myriad of reasons why. I entered the store and was pleasantly greeted by a nice older woman. Whoa, maybe this trip won't be so painful after all, I thought to myself. A couple minutes later, I was lost. I asked a young girl in a blue smock, who was trying valiantly to avoid eye contact with me, where the electronics department was. She didn't even bother speaking. I don't know, maybe she was mute? She just pointed and kept on walking. This is what I was expecting from Walmart. Once I reached the desk in the electronics department, I got in line. There were three employees at the desk and one customer. I know what you're thinking. That customer must've been getting stellar service! Haha. Nope. One employee was on the phone, and the other two were gossiping. Eventually I did get some service. It went something like this: hey, can I help you? When I explained I was there to purchase tickets, I was told: the machine is broken, go somewhere else. When I asked when it might be repaired, I was told: I don't know when it'll be fixed! And this my friends is customer service brought to you by the friendly folks of Walmart. Would I ever return? Hell no. Would I recommend this place to others? Nope. Why two stars and not one? You've heard the saying: "the freaks come out at night." Well, that theory can be proven between 11:30 and 2:00 a.m. at this location. I don't mean it negatively, it just is fact. Its the entire mentality behind the individual that decides to go to Wal-Mart late at night to shop for random things. You think to yourself: its 1am, I'll be in there for a few minutes, and its freakin' Wal-Mart, so who cares what I look like, what I'm wearing, and what I smell like. Late night Wal-Mart hours will bring the freak/creep outta you even if you lead a normal life otherwise. You might be wondering: "What should I wear to Wal-Mart? What is the dress code?" Allow me to answer. You can wear shoes, but house slippers are preferred. Under shirts, wife-beaters, or the dirtiest shirt from your laundry basket will do. If you choose to wear jeans, please make sure they are either wrinkled or stained; however sweat pants or pajama bottoms will do. Either wear no make-up, or pile it on like a freak. Make sure your face has the "not been washed for days" look. 9 out of 10 times I will be at Wal-Mart around midnight; and so I have become accustomed to the thousands of boxes in the aisles, tons of employees stocking, random boom-boxes playing different radio stations throughout, and the cornucopia of people from different backgrounds and ways of life. Its an experience that ought not be passed. So when the rare chance I plan ahead and think of what I need to buy in the daytime...I don't recognize the store. The aisles are free from boxes and the people are fairly normal looking. Things you should be prepared for. The registers close at midnight, then re-open at 12:01 am. But when they re-open, though there are 30 check-out lanes, only 4 will be in service. I think the person who designed the escalators is European, because the one going up is on the left, and vice-versa. I have been shopping at this Wal-Mart for 40 years, and every time I walk to the wrong one. And lastly, a short vent. WHY ARE BATTERIES SO EXPENSIVE!?! Every time I go to buy batteries I forget just how much they are. Two 9-Volt batteries: $5.50. Twenty 9-Volt batteries: $10.50. I stand in front of the batteries mumbling under my breath, trying to decided if I am going to move forward with the purchase or not. I don't need 20 batteries, but it's such a better deal! Can you give a place "0" stars? Got home with a empty used ink cartridge in a resealed box. And a manager that wouldn't take my call. Really?!? I went to buy an ink cartridge for my printer, Target was out or I would have bought it there, very nice guy in electronics was kind enough to get it out of the locked case and offer to ring it up to get me on my way. Got home, opened the box to find a used ink cartridge with nothing in it. I immediately called the store to express my concern and have the manager put one aside so I wouldn't have to wait to unlock the case, etc. To my surprise the manager wouldn't take my call and told the sales person on the phone to just have me come in.
