I haven't been in a Walmart in some time but I have to say it was a very pleasant experience. I went because online I found that they carry Watkins hand soap so I wanted to buy a few bottles for my home. They only had foamy hand soap in the store and my preference was regularly soap but I bought a couple of bottles anyway because I like the scent. Since I'm new to the store, I asked an employee where the soap was located and they were spot on with the aisle locale. Love that. I then thought about other stuff I needed and headed to carpets to buy the Non-slide layer you put under carpets. Found that and bought a couple of runners for my entryway. So much cheaper than other stores I was looking in. Very good experience here. Staff was knowledgeable. Store was clean. Checkout was fast and friendly. Great stop. Lights off in Deli area and it's 8:15. No sign posted about hours so rang bell for help. Out comes employee who states deli closed at 8pm. Check website posted hours they state deli closes at 9pm. This Walmart has come a long way. I used to shop there when it wasn't a super Walmart. The self checkouts are very nice (since there's only ever 1 cashier on deck at all times ) The reason for the 3 stars is because they don't always have things stocked. (I get it.. things go quicker and don't get ordered daily). Also some aisles are just a disaster. Stuff everywhere and the clothes aisles aren't very clean. Since I don't normally go to a cashier I can only base customer service off of needing help or when I do a return. Went to do a return and the lady didn't even really acknowledge me. Just kept on talking to her friend/ another associate. Bathrooms were well kept and clean. read more

I live in Rosemount, the Apple Valley store has been my go to for years! Until I recently shopped the Hastings store! I never knew 2 stores could be completely different ! The online pickup from groceries, to anything available is 10 × faster in Hastings! I just yesterday ordered 2 things from pickup at AV, 22 hours later still no notification, yes ,they actually had 2 more hours! That's just one example, I went into the store, and was greeted by a happy person, entering, leaving I realize the Hastings store is smaller, supposedly less people, but they have got it figured out! Hastings is a couple more miles, but 10 stoplights, and how ever many cars less! read more

My visits to Walmart are infrequent because of the long lines with one or two registers open with a store full of people waiting to check out. Anyway I only needed a few items today,it was the middle of the day so I figured I would take the chance. I managed to get through the store and find my items but as typical long lines but today they opened another line which was good to see! My chief complaint is the checkout cashier she never said hello or Thank you! I don't understand why this is not part of training! I get it Walmart is not luxury shopping but people are spending their hard earned dollars and I don't think it is unreasonable to expect a greeting from the cashier! read more

The WORST service with the on line Pick Up Service. Last week, I was missing half of my order. Sometimes when using their service, I would be handed my groceries, item by item, NOT even in a bag! I have to tell their drone employees at least 5 times my name. A half-hour later, they finally bring out my groceries. I call the store to complain and I am told they are improving. After trying to use their service the past 3 years, NOTHING EVER CHANGES WITH THEIR CRAP SERVICE. Their lame-ass service is terrible. I just had my worst experience at a Walmart ever, totally inconsistent with reasonable expectations. I just needed to return a recent purchase and then do my grocery shopping. It was baffling and frustrating, and seriously wasted my time. So I left and immediately called to talk to a manager. It was during normal business hours but there was apparently no manager there, and after getting passed between multiple people who didn't seem to have a clue, I couldn't even leave a message or a voicemail but ended up with customer service, which is where the problem happened in the first place. The absence of a manager...big clue to the problems! No way to get to a manager or even leave a message for a manager...hmmmm. And look at the bad rating here on Yelp. I'm thinking this store needs a new manager. So I went elsewhere to do my shopping and will probably continue to do so. I'm not a fan of Walmart to begin with. So, I just can't give them a very high rating. I find the stores (this one in particular) to feel like grungy yet bright warehouses with employees that don't want to be there. I try to keep my visits infrequent. Tonight's stop is simply because the oil light came on in my car, and it's a Sunday night and the auto parts stores are closed for the evening. In the past, I found I shopped more when my kids were young. Prices here are good for diapers and formula. Beyond that, I prefer Target. read more

This is the first Walmart I've ever been to. There is a huge parking lot, and it was quite full, the store seems to be popular, lots of mothers with their kids and a few groups of HS students "hanging out". I am grateful that during my high school days I had better things to do then to hang out at the local Wal-Mart. In comparison to Target, the prices are a little cheaper, and they carry lots of stuff. The store wasn't as clean and organized as many Target stores are. The clothes section was a complete mess. I didn't see a single sales person there. Overall, the people who work there aren't really friendly, but they do "the job". The electronics section is quite nice, large selection, movies, cameras and accessories. There is a photo dept, pharmacy, a food section, little coffee place. Overall, all of your basic needs will be satisfied. Still, I prefer le boutic le targeee. read more

It's walmart, so expectations can't be too high. But I gave 3 stars because this particular store is consistently out of certain items and it takes quite awhile to get them in stock. The staff is not very helpful when I need help finding something and for whatever reason the store typically only has 1 or 2 cashiers at a time and the lines for self check out get crazy! But with that said, it is more convenient than running o several storrs to buy groceries, diapers, soap, school supplies, and Halloween costumes. You just have to be prepared to wait in line for awhile to check out and some items will probably be out of stock. read more

I do site to store here often! The ladies doing the orders do a great job! 4 stars because my Rhodes dinner rolls were all mushed together and then frozen. They did not turn out, but I don't think this was from an order I placed. But I can see it's been a problem before which tells me that they're playing a dangerous game with the temperatures of their foods! It takes a long time for those rolls to thaw enough to mash together when refrozen. Gross. read more

This Walmart needs help. Shelves are not stocked...how can you be out of potatoes or cucumbers? I concur with other postings that lack of management is clearly apparent. Lots of staff doing a lot of nothing (mostly talking to each other). I've never see stockers so lax in what they are doing. Forget asking a question...most don't speak English well enough to understand what you are asking and they won't ask for help from someone who might. No checkouts open and if you ask to have another opened, nothing happens. ENOUGH!! I've stopped shopping at this one (even though it's a few blocks from my home) and now go to Burnsville which seems to be a bit better. Next step for me might be ceasing any and all shopping at Walmart. It's just not worth the aggravation for a few dollars. read more

I'm not a bg Wal-Mart person, but the one reason I will do Wal-Mart over Target is to get craft supplies. I went in today to get some cheap yarn for a project only to discover they have the WORST craft department I've seen at a Wal-Mart (and I thought Duluth's was pretty sparse). Very little selection of items, no fabric (except for a couple pre-packed pieces of tulle and felt), and rather unorganized- ribbon would all be thrown together, but not matched up to a shelf sticker so you have no clue what the price of anything is. I also needed plaster of Paris, which didn't appear to be in crafts, so I tried do-it-yourself. No one was there to help the woman who was waiting at the counter for paint (I think she waited at least 30 min- people kept running by telling her "I don't do that, I'll find someone else" and then we'd never see them again). When a woman finally came to help, she gave a monologue about how rough her job is and how her co-workers don't do their share before helping each of us... And then she had no clue what Plaster of Paris is or where to find it. For a Wal-Mart in a very populated area, I expect much better. I'll find somewhere else for craft supplies and go to Target for general items. read more

Cleaner, nicer, more organized than the Burnsville Walmart. I have begun shopping here over that location because I can find what I need. One thing I have noticed that I have trouble with is when having the clearance section so many things don't have prices. If I don't know a price I don't buy it. Otherwise on my visits I have seen employees working and cashiers working through their lines to the best of their abilities. Out of all the walmarts I have been too this is the dirtiest. They did just do a remodel but it still doesn't look nice. Lots of trash outside. Go during the night time hours and you will find my employees that are very unprofessional. They are open 24 hours which is helpful and they do have a large produce section. My advice, go to target and use these guys as a back up read more

Like I've said before, 'It's a Walmart, what the hell are you expecting?' I've been to hundreds... hundreds, HUNDREDS of them. Few things about this place is; It's a tad grungier than some I've been to, The clientele is along the same lines, the night time stock is a bit more chaotic than some. There are Walmarts I've frequented that are clean, well stocked and the people seem happy and non drugged; this one isn't quite like that. Here the customers are more ghetto than I expected but the people working there are overall friendly, at least for a Walmart. Walmarts in heavy Caucasian areas, even poorer ones, are nearly ALWAYS cleaner, calmer, and have parking lots that don't look like cart graveyards. The area seems overall well off, but maybe I'm mistaken. What I see regularly in this one are multiple minorities; loaded up on the Somalian/black side, with some Latino and poorer Asian thrown in. Surprising, given the area. But overall not bad; not a lot of ink or piercings or people yelling on their cell phones or getting into cars with loud stereos in the parking lot, with music with lots of vulgarities and cursing.. Nothing quite so sinister that you'll feel like you're visiting Cell Block D. I've had my usual terrible customer service experiences at it, but I've had enough good ones that it warrants: Three Stars. read more

Oooh, do I miss this Walmart Pharmacy. I got my meds filled there for 12 years. The staff are sooooo very incredibly friendly, courteous, caring, and prompt in delivering customer services. It's silly but I actually looked forward to getting my prescriptions filled. So, naturally, when I left Apple Valley I REALLY insisted they come with me. They politely declined citing silly reasons about family and friends. Seriously, if you live in their area, do yourself a favor and get your prescriptions filled there. read more

Apple Valley Walmart used to be a good store, not dirty and dumpy as it is now.You used to be able to get help from a clerk, not now, maybe rarely,if one is stopped the barely speak English, and look at you like your from mars. The shelves are poorly stocked and there is no smiles or how are you, may I help. When I worked for Walmart that wouldn't have been allowed. Stuff in the aisles a big no no, It's like the job training was either poor, or was nonexistent. The company was a great company to work for when I worked there, but it has really gone downhill. Ridiculous. Get better workers. They are always rude and never say a fricken word to you and just stare at you. And I'm sick of only having a couple lanes open when you have a billion workers just fricking standing around. I should have to wait forever when I have 2 items because you close down self check out way early or you only have 2 lanes open! You seriously have workers just standing in the front chit chatting. Also, one of your managers were extremely rude. My BF had taken some things off the shelf to look at it better and he was scolded for making a "mess." Really? That's how you treat customers? this store was a great store, but looks like some of the new managers just love to make there own rules and regulations, bought a cell phone and took a picture of the receipt in case I lose it, the phone was terrible so I took It back the same day and one of the managers made a huge fuss about me presenting a copy and started huffing and puffing about it, saying they do not accept copies of the receipt , another manager showed up and was completely understanding and apologized for the behavior of the other manager and said a copy of the receipt was as good as an original is. long story short she returned the phone and got me a new one instead. wally world managers should meet and agree on one policy for conducting business. read more
