As a large group of 'out of towners' Bertha sure did reach out to us making us feel welcome. We had to have passed a dozen employees where no one spoke at all... but Bertha went completely out of her way to reach us. She gave us some good suggestions on foods and event told us alittle bit about herself and how much she loves her job. She even gave us some cool facts about the meats that come to Ingles 82. The store was super clean with even cleaner bathrooms. Great experience while shopping and even better when we hit the gas station because we got $.15 off each gallon thanks to the $330 we spent inside the store. Love Ingles!

Along the way, I'm stopping here for something from the frozen aisle that I can cook in the campervan. I found some good choices and while the deli was closed, I still managed to pick up some prepackaged meat and cheese that will be tomorrow's breakfast and lunch. The store is clean, stocked and tidy. Well lit and there were very few carts in the cart corral in the parking lot at 6:30pm. This was a great stop and I would shop here again. Ashe County Cheese is located in West Jefferson, NC. It was established back in 1930 by Kraft…read moreCorporation, making it the oldest cheese plant in the state. It is the only commercial plant left in the state. Ashe County Cheese produces 30,000 to 40,000 pounds of cheese a week. The Blue Ridge Mountains were chosen for the facility by Kraft as there was a surplus of milk in the region from all the dairy farming. The lush high-altitude pastures were great for dairy cattle. Kraft bought up many smaller dairy farms and made a more modern, centralized facility so the cheese could be distributed and sold outside of the mountains. West Jefferson was the chosen location to collect the milk within a 50-mile radius. Ashe County Cheese Factory has a viewing room where you can watch cheese being made. This was the highlight of my visit as I got to watch most of the cheese curd process from separating the whey and curds to draining the whey to mixing and agitating to testing the batch to adding the salt. I left at that point to allow others to view, as the viewing room was on the small side. The retail shop is across the street, and you can buy all types of cheese, including the curds. I bought some butter cheese and white cheddar trims besides the curds. They have insulated bags to buy with ice packs so you can keep it cool and refreeze the ice packs. It stayed cold for the three days I needed it to, with time in a hot car and some time in a refrigerator. Besides cheese, they sold fudge, jams, crackers, candies and wine. I found great postcards too. If West Jefferson is too far to travel to buy some squeaky cheese curds, you can order online from their website.

Beautiful little gem of a shop where you're able to test most every honey related product there…read morebefore buying. From honey, to honey butter, and sauces. It's a quiet little shop that has a lot to offer. My favorites were the cranberry and vanilla creme! The kind woman working was very welcoming and informative of the different uses for some of the flavors we inquired about.

We are in love with the honey butters and also the honey flavors. The shop owner is so helpful and personable. She even offered to gift wrap the honey butters as I was getting them early for Christmas, and she also packaged them for traveling for me - such thoughtful customer service! This is long, and I apologize…read more First of all, to preface this statement, I would like to inform you that approximately 2 years ago the employee in question (Alex) worked at Walmart in West Jefferson,NC. We had an unfortunate run-in with each othe, and It was a mistake on my behalf and I will not deny that it happened. Since then, I have taken care of all legal matters and I have learned my lesson and no longer do the things that may have happened previously. I hope that those of you reading this can agree with me in my saying that everyone makes mistakes and learns from them. I know I have. Regardless, this employee seems to making it personal towards me and I am repulsed. Anyway, About a month ago I visited the West Jefferson, NC location of Dollar General. I got the items I came for, went to the register, and paid for said items. Upon leaving, the "manager," Alex, told me that I was not to leave the store, that a police officer was on their way. I asked why, and he told me i was "stuffing my purse." When I asked what I was supposedly stuffing my purse with, he was unable to provide an answer. He basically refused to talk to me. When the officer arrived, he told the officer that he had a screenshot of me doing so. However, he was unable to say what I was supposedly putting in my purse. He also told the officer that what he was accusing me of had happened about 3 weeks prior to the night he was me "trespassed" for this location. He told the officer that when he saw me do this, he tried to catch me and I ran. that, in fact, never happene. I had been to this store multiple times during those weeks and nothing was ever mentioned. Since then, I have been trying to get in touch with this so-called manager to try to make ammends to see if this could somehow be rectified. I have a family, children, the youngest of which is 2, so I often stop at this location to get things they need. I have called this location numerous times, and Alex will never come to the phone and the other young man that works there seems to know that he is intentionally avoiding me, because he is just as rude. So, tonight, I called Wal-Mart in West Jefferson, because I know Alex use to work there. I spoke with a young lady, I asked "Is Alex that works in loss prevention available?" She said no and that she wasn't sure who I was referring to, that he must no longer work there. Within half an hour, I got a call from the West Jefferson Dollar General location. I did not answer because I wasn't sure of the number at first. But I did return the call. Alex answered, I stated that I had a missed call from that number. Alex then went on to tell me that he was calling me to ask why I was calling WalMart to ask for [ladys name]. I was dumbfounded as to why this was being questioned, so I asked him to repeat himself. And he reiterated that, yes, he was calling me to ask why I called walmart to ask to speak to [ladys name]. first of all, I do not know a [ladys name]. Second, why would he care if I called walmart to ask to speak to someone? Do I not have that right? Why is this DG employee harrassing me because I called Wal-Mart, where he no longer works? And why is someone from Walmart calling Alex to tell him I called? Do I not have the right to call a retail store without it being passed around the county as public knowledge? I told him plainly that I had been trying to get in touch with him since the night of the incident. He was very rude. He,again, would not allow me to speak. He would not give me a straight answer about anything. He spoke over me, constantly interrupted me, and finally said that he had infact told the officer he had a screenshot of my license plate. Which is the complete opposite of what happened that night. Then he proceeded to tell me that he thought I had been stealing Listerine. Which is ludicrous. I don't even use Listerine, nor dose anyone in my family. i asked for a picture of the screenshot he told the officer that he had And he said he didn't have one. This young man changed his story to me at least 4 times during the conversation and ultimately ended up hanging up on me instead of acting professionally and dealing with the situation as an adul. Plain and simple, I am appalled about this employees actions towards me. They were very unprofessional, unethical, and to me it shows that Dollar General has not properly trained their employee. I have been falsely accused and harassed. This store has now lost my respect and business as a consumer because this employee is out of control.
